“You’re right,” Aimee agreed. “I think Damion is more passionate about this than Ivy.”
Patrick didn’t care what they thought; he only cared about what Aimee thought now.
“So what do you think? Do you want to open one?” Patrick asked.
“You know I’m not interested in these things. I told Mikayla that if she wants to open one, I can provide funding and give her a menu but she has to run it herself. I won’t interfere,” Aimee replied.
“With your menu alone, the restaurant will already be halfway successful,” Patrick said confidently.
Aimee laughed at him and teased him saying, “You were just saying how Ash blindly supports Mikayla but look at yourself now – aren’t you doing the same thing as Ash?”
Patrick naturally replied, “I support my wife. What’s wrong with that?”
Aimee finished the last bite of her noodles and set down her bowl, looking at Patrick. “So, what are your thoughts now? Do you have any plans to open a restaurant?”
Patrick handed Aimee a napkin to wipe her mouth before answering. “Honestly, I don’t have any specific ideas. I’ll be investing money and helping with the menu, but ultimately it will depend on their vision. Mikayla is very unpredictable and always exploring new things, so it’s probably best to discuss this with Ivy.”
“I think Damion wants all of us to invest in the restaurant and have Ivy as the main operator,” Aimee said.
“He doesn’t want Ivy to sacrifice her career for him or their family by leaving the company,” Patrick explained. “From his perspective, he wants to plan ahead for her future.”
Aimee nodded in agreement. “That’s why Mikayla and I suggested that we don’t make any final decisions yet and keep Ivy excited about this project. During the planning phase, Mikayla can handle it while giving time for Ivy and Damion’s family planning. After that, she can hand over full control of operations when she returns.”
“I’m okay with that,” Patrick said. “If that’s how Damion wants to support her, then we should help him out.”
“Great! We can discuss everything in detail during our trip at sea,” Aimee suggested.
Patrick remained silent but was touched by Damion’s thoughtfulness.
They all knew that Ivy had always felt inferior due to their differences in status.
Now even though she was married into wealthier circumstances than before, there were still some sensitive issues between them especially if they were directly involved without considering how she might feel about it.
If Damion just opened up a restaurant for Ivy without consulting anyone else, then it would only add more pressure on her since she would feel like he was trying too hard or didn’t trust her abilities enough.
By doing this together as friends, they could tell Ivy they just wanted an easy investment opportunity without having too much responsibility themselves. And it can let her take charge of making money from running things, which would give them more time off instead of feeling like they needed someone else managing everything, because they couldn’t handle it themselves.
The difference between this and Damion directly giving the restaurant to Ivy was that doing so will not make Ivy feel that Damion disliked her for being idle at home and not having her own career.
“It never occurred me until now how cleverly scheming Damion can be sometimes,” Patrick remarked, finally breaking his silence on what he thought about all this.
Aimee smiled and said, “That just means he really loves Ivy. A man only puts in so much effort when he truly loves a woman. Otherwise, why make things so complicated? Just use money to solve the problem. It’s easier.”
Patrick said, “I suddenly feel envious of him.”
Aimee looked at Patrick skeptically and asked, “Envious of what?”
“Envious that he has the chance to go through all these twists and turns. You haven’t given me that opportunity,” Patrick replied with a hint of grievance in his tone.
Upon hearing this, Aimee burst out laughing. She lifted her hand to hook around Patrick’s neck and said, “What can you do? Is your wife too excellent for you? Do you feel burdened?”
Patrick responded by saying, “The burden is fine. I just feel like something is missing, as if I’m not giving enough to you.”
From the beginning, Patrick had felt lost on how to proceed.
Aimee had no idea that she was putting so much pressure on Patrick. Looking back, it seemed like they didn’t know where to start with each other.
“It’s actually quite fair,” Aimee said. “I haven’t been playing any games with you.”
She wasn’t someone who paid much attention to these things, so many times she couldn’t even remember. This led her to feel pretty bad about herself now that she thought about it.
“But you’ve always given more than I have,” Patrick said.
“If you’re talking about curing you, there’s really no need for that,” Aimee replied. “It’s my job, and you’re my patient. Curing you is a challenge for me and will give me a sense of happiness and accomplishment. It’s just different from other patients because you’re also my husband, but I don’t think that means you owe me anything.”
“I can only be grateful for that you have dual identities,” Patrick said.
Aimee smiled and said, “Okay, even though we’ve been married for a long time now, there’s really no need to make things difficult for ourselves or hold any grudges against each other. We aren’t the type of people who compare how much we do compared to others anyway. As long as we feel comfortable and happy together, then it’s enough.”
“You’re right, my wife,” Patrick agreed.
Aimee kissed at Patrick’s lips before saying, “I just remembered something. I own a row of shops in an excellent location near Ivy’s house which would be perfect if we open our restaurant there.”
Patrick immediately knew which shops Aimee was referring too but pondered before replying, “We could use those shops but the marketing effort required would be greater.”
“Leave that up to Miles,” Aimee suggested confidently. “He can easily send some artists from his company over there. They’ll become famous overnight.”
Patrick chuckled softly before saying, “Why not just send your sister-in-law?”
Aimee burst out laughing without hesitation as she replied bluntly, “I wish! But Miles wouldn’t let her go anywhere near such an opportunity.”
Miles had planned Matilda’s career path at the highest level possible by securing endorsements from some of the world’s most prestigious brands; he had absolutely no intention of letting her engage live-streaming e-commerce market which was currently booming in popularity right now.
It was not that Miles looked down upon this industry, but since Matilda had already been positioned in that position, there was no need to do anything to get closer to everyone. This will not make people feel approachable, but rather make them feel like she had fallen from the pedestal.
Therefore, even if she went to a restaurant for advertising, Miles was likely to find the most top- notch custom restaurant for Matilda.
The restaurant they were going to open obviously won’t be that.
Patrick said, “If Matilda is willing, Miles can’t do anything about it.”
Aimee thought about it and decided not to experiment with this matter because she knew Matilda very well and she was completely obedient to Miles. She would never do anything that Miles did not want.
Miles was actually a pretty decent man. Whenever his behavior deviated even slightly, obedient people like Matilda were pushing him into a pit of fire.
However, Matilda was not really that kind of woman.
If she really met such a man, Matilda would definitely make him end badly.
So, Matilda and Miles were just spoiling each other without any bottom line.
On Beata’s 20th birthday, everything went according to plan as they all went on a cruise together. River had been unhappy with this arrangement for several days, but when the day finally arrived, he couldn’t help feeling happy.
After all, Beata was his little sister whom he had raised himself and his feelings for her were particularly deep.
Watching that little girl who had grown up so much that she was now of marriageable age filled River’s heart with indescribable emotion. On one hand, he was truly moved by the fact that his sister had grown up so fast. On the other hand, he felt a bit reluctant to let her go.
Even though Beata had been with Yael since she was 18 years old and seemed more than ready to get married, River still felt like it was only today that he realized how much of a woman Beata really was becoming.
So River prepared some very generous gifts for Beata on this special occasion. This wasn’t the first time either; ever since her 18th birthday when River transferred ownership of part of their family assets to her name alone, every year had brought new surprises for Beata.
She even began to feel like she didn’t know what money really looked like anymore, because there always seemed to be an endless supply around her.
River took out a notebook and listed out each gift one by one until it became overwhelming for poor Beata. She hesitated before asking him nervously, “River, you don’t want me anymore, do you?”
Why did she suddenly feel so uneasy?
“I will always be your brother,” replied River reassuringly.
Beata sniffled before asking another question, “River, can you just tell me now what kind of surprise you have planned for me next year? I mean… how can you top this?”
“You’re quite optimistic if you think I’m going to keep doing this every year. Spend it with Yael next year,” laughed River teasingly as if feeling jealous.
Beata rolled her eyes at him playfully; clearly not taking him seriously at all!
She immediately moved closer to River, hugging his arm and saying, “Oh brother, even though I will definitely marry Yael, I am still your little sister. You have to celebrate my birthday every year and give me a birthday gift. Don’t think about passing me off to Yael.”
River felt warm at the sight of his little sister in his arms. He naturally hoped that she would always be happy like this.
River said, “You and Yael are doing well, you know?”
Beata nodded vigorously and said, “Then River, after we go back home, what do you think about Yael and I getting married?”
River was speechless.
What did he think?
He didn’t really like it!
Right now he just wanted to throw Beata off the cruise ship.
Beata quickly sensed the change in River’s mood and let go of his arm before sitting back down next to Yael.
Originally Beata didn’t plan on getting married so soon but it was only a matter of time since they were already at marriageable age. She never expected such a strong reaction from River when she brought up the topic.
Beata covered her heart with her hand as she secretly glanced over at River.
Thankfully he didn’t explode despite looking angry.
River really didn’t know how to describe his mood.
However, he also understood Beata’s thoughts. After all, when he was with Averi, he was so domineering that he didn’t pursue her properly and just got together with her.
It can be said that he was very dominant and overbearing in bringing Averi into his world.
After all, Beata was his sister. Although their personalities were vastly different on the surface, deep down they shared many similarities.
For something that one truly desired and knew was meant for oneself, there was no need to hesitate or beat around the bush – just claim it as one’s own.
However, River still felt speechless.
It was often said that girls were outgoing, but his sister seemed a bit too eager.
After a long silence, River gritted his teeth and said, “You think he can marry you without even proposing? Dream on.”
Yael lifted his eyelids and looked at River upon hearing the words.
They were too familiar with each other, to the point that River’s gnashing of teeth was not only childish but also immature to Yael.
Yael didn’t care about stabbing River in the heart at all, and said directly, “Have proposed.”
River was struck dumb and shocked at the same time.
His pupils dilated in shock, and he glared fiercely at Yael. It was clear that he expected an explanation from him.
