Yael came out of the study room and saw Beata sitting on the couch looking worried, so he sat down next to her asking, “What’s wrong? What are you thinking about? You look unhappy.”

Beata pouted and said, “I’m thinking about how I want my birthday celebration.”

“Mikayla asked you,” said Yael who had seen all of the messages in their group chat including River’s reaction.

“I want us two alone,” said Beata hesitantly, “Will my brother get mad?”

“He will,” replied Yael bluntly.

Mikayla had just mentioned it in the group chat, but River was already furious. If Beata were to tell him directly that she and Yael were going to spend time alone together, Yael knew that River would explode.

“What should we do then?” Beata asked.

“Want to celebrate your birthday on a cruise ship?” Yael suggested.

Beata looked at Yael with some confusion. She didn’t have any particular feelings towards cruises and wondered why Yael suddenly brought it up.

“Everyone will be on the cruise ship, so we can just assign rooms,” said Yael.

Beata thought about it carefully and realized that this way they could avoid any issues with finding a venue. Once they left their rooms, everyone would help her celebrate her birthday together. After returning to their room, she could celebrate her birthday alone with Yael without worrying about River keeping them from going home.

Beata’s bright eyes looked at Yael as she said, “Yael, you’re so smart.”

Yael smiled and replied, “After all, he’s your brother and my brother too. We always have to take care of his feelings.”

Beata was almost laughing out loud at Yael’s words. If River heard what Yael said, she knew that with his temper, he might even cause trouble on the cruise ship.

So Beata decided that she had to make this birthday celebration very ordinary and not reveal her thoughts. Of course, there was still something that she needed to do.

For example, when they returned to their room after dinner, Beata had to think carefully about how she would celebrate her birthday with Yael. With the venue issue resolved, Beata picked up her phone and replied to Mikayla’s message in the group chat, “I’ve decided! Let’s go on a cruise together!”

As soon as this message was sent out, everyone in the group chat became excited. Although cruising was a common way of celebrating birthdays for them all by now, since it was Beata, the youngest sister’s special day, they wanted it done right.

They were discussing how they could make this cruise more interesting when River still hadn’t appeared yet. Beata stared at her phone for a long time but didn’t see any response from him, which made her heart beat faster.

She looked at Yael and asked, “Yael, has my brother figured out my plan?”

Yael didn’t answer because it was obvious that River must have already seen through everything. He just didn’t want to tell Beata because then she would start getting nervous.

As expected by Yael and everyone else who knew him well enough, River held his phone tightly while looking at it for a long time until his face turned livid with anger.

Averi tried comforting him but eventually joined in on planning the party instead of trying too hard, as he took Averi’s phone from her hand and hugged her saying, “Babe, please calm me down. I’m feeling uneasy.”

“Don’t be so petty,” Averi said teasingly while trying not to laugh too much, knowing full well what was going through Rivers mind right now. “Beata has grown up.”

“But I’m still uncomfortable,” River replied stubbornly.

He wasn’t really uncomfortable about Yael and Beata’s relationship progressing further; he just saw through their plans clearly, which made him feel like he had been played around with unnecessarily again

This was the most frustrating thing for River.

Did he really look that immature?

They celebrated her 18th birthday alone, but on her 20th birthday, was he really that stingy?

Averi said, “You should be happy. Beata’s arrangement shows that she really cares about your feelings. Otherwise, she would have just gone and registered with Yael like Mikayla did, and you wouldn’t have been able to say anything.”

River was struck dumb.

Hadn’t he been comforted yet?

Averi saw River’s even worse mood and couldn’t help but feel even more delighted.

Holding River’s face, Averi said, “Okay, okay, I’ll coax you. How do you want me to coax you? Huh?”

River pouted and said, “At least give me a kiss first.”

Averi was almost being amused to death by his behavior.

After marrying River, she discovered that he was truly exceeding her expectations.

He was really exceptionally cute.

She really loved him a lot.

As Beata’s 20th birthday approached, Aimee found herself with more free time. After completing her last surgery before taking a break, Aimee walked out of the operating room to see Patrick waiting for her.

In that moment, Aimee realized that she hadn’t spent quality time with Patrick in a long while. She felt guilty and after briefing the patient’s family, she hurried over to him.

Patrick reached out to hug her but Aimee refused, “I’m dirty. Let me go wash up and change first.”

“I don’t mind,” Patrick said.

“Trust me on this one. This patient is dangerous. I need to clean up first,” Aimee explained.

Patrick understood the situation all too well and worried about every surgery that Aimee performed. He knew how much she loved being a doctor but also knew how dangerous it could be.

Aimee said, “Wait for me, okay? I’ll be quick.”

Despite the danger involved in her work, Patrick held onto her hand tightly because he wanted them both to face it together. If anything happened to Aimee, he couldn’t bear it alone.

A few minutes later when she emerged from the bathroom wearing fresh clothes but with wet hair still dripping down her back; she ran towards him exclaiming, “I haven’t seen you in days! I missed you so much!”

She had been working non-stop lately just so they could spend some quality time together during Beata’s birthday week celebration as well as just being able to spend more time with Patrick herself.

Patrick hugged her tightly and said, “I regret not getting you something better than this hospital.”

When she was at Innisrial General Hospital before, all of this craziness started happening around them; things were different then – less busy and less hectic than now where patients were constantly streaming through their doors seeking medical attention from doctors. Aimee was now known far beyond their city limits for treating everyone equally regardless of race or social status alike – something which made many people respect and admire about her even more!

She would not prioritize treating the rich and powerful, nor would she turn away patients because of their financial situation. Aimee had only one requirement when it came to treating patients: she would only treat the most difficult cases that other hospitals couldn’t handle.

This high bar kept some people from seeking treatment from Aimee, but it also brought in more patients. Aimee had set up a fund to evaluate each patient’s financial situation, and for those who couldn’t afford medical expenses despite having serious illnesses, their fees were deducted from this fund.

At first, some people tried to take advantage of this system by being clever with their finances. However, no one succeeded in doing so since everyone soon realized that Aimee always put her patients first and nothing else mattered.

Even when performing surgeries, Aimee made arrangements based on each patient’s specific circumstances rather than external factors. This approach earned her the ire of many people but they had no choice since sometimes whether or not Aimee personally performed surgery could mean life or death for a patient.

Patrick often felt sorry for Aimee, who took on all kinds of difficult patients. However, he knew that there was nothing he can do about it.

Aimee loved her job as a doctor and helping people was what she lived for. She’ll work tirelessly to cure her patients without expecting any reward in return and will even develop new medicines day and night just to give them the best treatment possible.

Of course, Aimee wasn’t invincible and there were some patients she simply can’t save. Although she appeared calm on the surface when faced with such situations, Patrick knew better than anyone how much it affected her emotionally.

Despite feeling sorry for his wife’s hard work, Patrick supported her every step of the way. He provided whatever equipment or medicine she needed without hesitation because they both knew that their hospital’s success was due to their joint efforts.

As Aimee leaned against Patrick’s chest, she thanked him for being by her side during this busy period. He kissed the top of her head before suggesting that they take a break together soon.

Aimee leaned into Patrick’s arms and said, “During this time, you have worked hard too. You have been busy with me all the time. Thank you.”

Patrick leaned down and kissed the top of Aimee’s head.

It was not important to be busy. For Patrick, the most important thing was that Aimee was happy.

“During this time, just take a good rest, okay?” Patrick said.

Aimee nodded and said, “Don’t worry. I will definitely not worry about the patient’s affairs during this time, and I will leave it to them.”

Patrick said, “Sometimes I think nastyly. Maybe I should pester you to have more children.”

Hearing this, Aimee looked up at Patrick and asked, “Do you want it?”

Both Ridge and Rosemary had gone to kindergarten. Although Aimee thought that two children were enough, and if Patrick wanted, Aimee can consider it.

He didn’t push the issue though; he believed things should happen naturally between them instead of forcing anything upon each other.

Aimee smiled suddenly, held Patrick’s waist, and said, “You’re afraid of getting another Ridge.”

However, whenever Ridge was mentioned in conversation between them, his face darkened uncontrollably as father and son had never gotten along well with each other despite Ridge being close to both Rosemary and Aimee ??almost like enemies who cannot stand each other’s presence.

Of course, Ridge was just as aloof with everyone else, including Perla.

It was probably because Rosemary and Ridge were twins and had a certain telepathic connection that made Ridge treat her slightly better. There really wasn’t any other way to explain it.

Even though Ridge seemed closer to Aimee and Rosemary than anyone else, it was only in comparison to his attitude towards others that this conclusion could be drawn.

In fact, Aimee felt that Ridge was very cold towards her too. “Ridge is just like that,” she said. “You can’t expect him to be sweet-talking like Rosemary.”

Patrick chimed in, “I can’t figure out whose side he’s on.”

“Maybe he takes after one of my brothers who knows where,” Aimee suggested.

It made sense if they thought about it – like uncle, like nephew.

Patrick and Aimee both thought of one person at the same time: Vincent. It had been a long time since he had appeared, and back then, he caused so much trouble trying to get Aimee to help him before suddenly disappearing.

After that, Aimee didn’t think about investigating what happened. She didn’t care. Vincent’s appearance or disappearance didn’t affect her in any way.

She never felt like she had a family before, even though she knew the Reads weren’t her real family. But Aimee never thought about finding her real family either.

For her, the most important thing was still her present life with Patrick and the Haydens.

Holding onto Patrick’s waist, she said casually, “I just said Ridge is our child so naturally he looks like us.”

Patrick hugged Aimee tightly but felt uneasy inside because no matter how good he was to her now, it couldn’t change the fact that all those times before they were together were spent alone by herself.

Even though she did well on her own during those times when Patrick wasn’t there for support, but for him, it only made him feel more heartbroken seeing how strong and independent she became after going through everything alone.

“Let’s go home,” Patrick said finally.

Aimee nodded but as she pulled away from his embrace, and leaned up on tiptoes to give him a quick kiss on his lips, which caught him off guard, causing him to freeze momentarily before kissing back passionately.

Aimee couldn’t help feeling like maybe she lost some of her agility as they kissed, because in the past, she could predict his movements easily, but now it seemed harder than ever.

Patrick kissed fiercely. These past few days without seeing each other made them both crave each other’s touch even more.
