Damion added, “Even Patrick isn’t someone we can see every day.”
In this sense, Patrick was the most unfortunate one.
After they chatted for a while longer, the call ended. Mikayla leaned against Ash and said, “I miss my sister.”
Ash rubbed Mikayla’s head and said, “How about we go to the hospital and look for her?”
“Never mind, going to the hospital is not a good idea. It will disturb her work,” Mikayla said.
“I thought Aimee was going to fully return to her family before. She hadn’t been working for such a long time, but it turns out she has been saving up here,” Ash said.
“My brother-in-law is also quite miserable. He was forced to become a workaholic,” Mikayla said.
Mentioning Patrick, Ash burst into laughter.
Previously, Patrick was still raising the stakes and setting a trap to make either Walter or Miles take over the company. However, now things had changed and he was forced to continue managing the company himself.
Patrick had now turned himself into a workaholic in order to accommodate Aimee’s schedule.
Mikayla was also someone who can’t stop enjoying herself.
However, after all this time had passed, Walter and Miles still hadn’t determined a winner between them.
Mikayla said, “I think I might be able to overtake on the bend.”
Ash lowered his gaze and looked at Mikayla upon hearing her words, saying, “If you want, I can arrange it immediately.”
They had already obtained their marriage certificate. On the day Mikayla reached the legal age for marriage, Ash took her directly to the civil affairs bureau.
For this reason, Matilda and Averi frightened Ash severely, saying that Aimee was very angry and he was just waiting to be skinned alive.
Ash was prepared to take responsibility and make amends.
However, he was also a tough nut to crack. Regardless of anything else, even if he was beaten by Aimee, he did not regret marrying Mikayla.
Of course, he still put forward his own request. To save his life, it was better not to beat him to a disability. Otherwise, no matter whether Mikayla was a widow when she just got married, or she had to take care of a disabled person for the rest of her life, was very bad.
Ash gave a long speech to Aimee, but instead of getting angry like Matilda and Averi had said, Aimee simply handed over a portion of her property to Ash.
Aimee said at the time, “This is the property I’ve saved up for Mikayla over the years, and also my gift to wish you both a happy marriage. Treat Mikayla well in the future.”
Ash was a bit surprised at the time, as it was different from what Matilda and Averi had said.
Of course, Matilda and Averi were both deceiving Ash.
It was only because it was Ash that Aimee didn’t get angry. If it were someone else, Aimee would definitely have been provoked.
As a result, Ash naturally stopped caring about those things.
When Ash realized he had been tricked, he was speechless.
However, he wasn’t upset. After all, he still too advantage of something.
And he couldn’t take advantage and act coy at the same time.
Since the moment he started learning from Aimee, his life had become very different.
Back when he was at home, he was just a wealthy second-generation with a clever mind. He wouldn’t have achieved what he had now without Aimee’s help.
It can be said that Aimee gave him another possibility in life.
Now that even Aimee’s most important sister trusted him so much, what was there for him to be unhappy about?
Mikayla wasn’t in a rush to have children. She felt that she was still young and, although there was some age difference between her and Ash, it wasn’t to the point where he would be too old to have kids.
So there was no need to be in such a hurry.
Now that Ash brought it up, Mikayla thought seriously about one question, “Do you really want children?”
Ash shook his head and said, “To be honest, I’d like to wait a bit longer.”
From Mikayla’s perspective, if she had a child now, it would only slightly benefit her body. However, having children is already very harmful for women’s bodies at any age. The damage may differ slightly depending on the woman’s age but having a child at an early age does not mean there will be no harm.
Therefore, Ash wouldn’t use this as an excuse for Mikayla to have children so soon. Otherwise, her future life would always revolve around the child and how could she fulfill her dreams?
Of course, Ash wouldn’t delay this matter too long either; he wouldn’t allow Mikayla become an older mother.
He would choose a compromise time before considering this matter again.
“If you ever want one,” Mikayla said, “you must tell me. I haven’t thought about it yet nor do I want one right now. It might sound selfish but I haven’t played enough yet, so tell me your thoughts instead of just listening to mine all the time because I also want you to be happy.”
Ash smiled and said, “That’s why you’re my wife; our thoughts are completely in sync with each other.”
Mikayla became happy knowing that Ash wouldn’t lie or deceive her. If he said he didn’t want kids, then he truly meant it.
With this understanding, they didn’t need to put having kids on their schedule anytime soon.
Mikalya asked, “Shall we guess whether Beata will overtake us later?”
After thinking for awhile, Ash replied, “I think she probably will.”
Beata was almost twenty years old now attending college with Mikalya, but while one had just started school, another was graduating soon.
However, Yael was older than Ash, so he needed consider whether or not becoming an older father was possible or not?
Therefore, judging from the fact that Walter and Miles hadn’t made any moves yet, Yael and Beata really had a chance to come out on top.
Thinking about this, Mikayla sent a message in the group chat, “Beata is turning 20 soon. How are you planning to celebrate her birthday?”
Ash rubbed Mikayla’s head helplessly and said, “You’re up to something.”
Mikayla replied innocently, “I’m just curious.”
The first person to reply was surprisingly River.
It was just a coincidence that River happened to be holding his phone at the time and saw Mikayla’s message.
It was so obvious what she meant.
River was speechless.
Mikayla sent another mischievous smiley face. In response, River sent an angry emoji back.
Miles finally had the opportunity to tease River and said with ease, “Little sister is growing up. You need to be more aware of being an older brother.”
River held his phone and almost got furious when he saw Miles’ message. He regretted not bullying this bastard back then, even though it wasn’t his sister.
“Hehe, you have more experience in this area than I do,” River said.
“Our family has always been open-minded, unlike some people who are clueless,” Miles replied.
River was really angry now. He thought he was already very open-minded as a brother, but these guys kept teasing him every day.
He didn’t even care about Beata anymore; she had moved in with Yael and he had no objections.
What else could he do? Buy them condoms to help them along?
The most annoying thing for River was that Eden insisted on playing truth or dare and asked how Beata and Yael got together. Beata didn’t save him any face at all and said it was because of him.
River couldn’t refute her words at all. It was a fact that his casual remark had led to their relationship. Even though love only needed an opportunity, they would eventually discover each other’s feelings sooner or later because of his words.
This was the embarrassing past of River’s life.
How could he know that such a casual remark would lead to a relationship? It seemed impossible to reason with anyone about this matter.
Originally, it was still a secret until Beata exposed it herself one day. Since then, this matter became something these guys teased him about every time they mentioned it ??making River feel like someone poked into his lungs every time they did so – making him so enraged.
He had never seen a brother worse off than himself before…
Now Miles mentioned it again. River really wanted to pull him over for a fight! Could things ever be good between them?
Averi sat next to River and saw how angry he looked; she gently comforted him by patting his back, “It’s been so many years. Why are you still not getting along with them?”
“These guys used to suffer under me before but now they’re taking revenge on me,” snorted River bitterly.
Averi laughed out loud, “We’re all grown-ups now. Why bother fighting over these things?”
River said, “We always have to keep score.” Averi couldn’t help but laugh. When a group of men got together, they can be incredibly childish. River sighed and asked, “Do you think Beata will come back and tell us she’s pregnant?”
“I doubt it,” Averi replied. “Beata told me that Yael has to wait until she turns twenty.” Once she hit twenty, there was no reason to stop them.
“If I didn’t know him so well, I’d worry that he was fooling around outside,” River said.
“You better not say that in front of Beata,” Averi warned. “She’s very protective.”
This comment stabbed at River’s heart like a knife. He used to be Beata’s protector, but now Yael was the one taking care of her.
Thinking about this made River feel miserable. Luckily, Yael was his friend and on his side; otherwise if some outsider tried to steal her little sister from him, he would really kill them.
Beata saw the messages in the group chat. She hadn’t decided how to celebrate her 20th birthday yet. For her 18th birthday, she celebrated with Yael and didn’t let River throw a party for her. On her 19th birthday, River threw an even bigger party for her.
Now that she was about to turn 20, Beata was still thinking about it. If she told River that she only wanted to celebrate with Yael this year, will it be too obvious? She knew if she did tell him, he’ll be furious.
But this year, Beata really wanted to spend her birthday alone with Yael. He’d been true to his promise since she was 18 years old and he had stuck by his principles for almost two years now.
Beata thought that once she started her education at Innisrial University, things would progress between them but their relationship hadn’t gone any further than before, which frustrated Beata immensely.
She even went to Mikayla for advice but Mikayla’s tactics against Ash didn’t apply when it came to dealing with Yael.
Finally approaching her twentieth birthday soon enough meant those issues were on the agenda again and Beata didn’t believe that Yael can refuse her anymore.
However, Beata also wanted to consider River’s feelings as well because if he got angry, then she won’t know what else can be done about it.
Beata held onto her phone for a while but ultimately didn’t reply back Mikayla’s message. She wanted to pretend like she was busy until coming up with a solution herself before responding back later on.
