It was even more oppressive than before.
The doorbell rang, and Eustace went to the door to get the food.
He carried it to the living room and opened it, placing it in front of Danika.
“Here, eat something before going to sleep.”
“Alright.Let’s eat together,” she said.
He didn’t refuse.No one knew if they would have a chance to eat together like that again.He had to treasure it.
Why was his heart feeling so bad? They ate in silence.
Occasionally, Eustace gave her the food on his plate, and she thanked him.
Besides that, there were no other sounds.It was so quiet as if no one was around.He didn’t like it at all, but he didn’t know what he could say to make things better.
Thus, the silence carried on.
Gone Mad
Maybe her feelings had been suppressed for too long.
Danika didn’t know what was going through her mind.
When Eustace prepared to leave, she pulled him back and kissed him on the lips.
She felt that she had gone mad.
But then Eustace pushed her away and stared into her eyes.
“Do you know what you’re doing?”
“I don’t.I don’t know anything at all.”
She didn’t want to know, either, and she didn’t want to think.She was only following her heart.
“You’ll have to remember that you brought this on yourself.”
Before Danika could respond, Eustace leaned in and kissed her passionately.
How they got to the bedroom and ended up lying on the bed was just a blur in Danika’s head.But when she woke up the next morning, her body ached all over as if a tank had run over her in the night.She came to her senses and stared at the empty bedroom, their clothes scattered all over the floor.
It was then that she understood what had happened last night.
She and Eustace…
She held her head, feeling a headache coming.
Nothing had ever happened between them when she was his wife.
It was the same when she was his girlfriend.
But now that they were nothing to each other, they suddenly had sex, and just before she moved in to stay with Evan, too.
Eustace had drunk last right, but she was sober.
Danika wasn’t sure why she would agree to it.
If she had to think of a reason, it’d be because she didn’t want to have any regrets.
If they couldn’t be together, at least they’d be able to say that, for one moment, they belonged to each other.
The door was pushed open.
Danika instinctively covered herself with the blanket.
When she saw that it was A-ec, she blushed.
“Why didn’t you krack?”
“Deo we still need to knock around each other? I’ve seen every part of you,” he said with a bright smile.
Danika glared at him and said hotly, “Get out. I wan: to dress myself.
“Alright.I’ll be in the living room waiting to have break-ast with you.”
Eustace smiled, not teasing her any longer.
After he left, Danika got up and washed up in the bathroom.
After dressing herself, she went into the living room.
Eustace had apparently gotten up early.
There was oatmeal and pancakes on the table.
Danika didn’t know how he had the ene-gy to cook so early in the morning.
The pancakes were sich a hassle, too.
“Le:’s eat.”
Eustace waved to her.
Danika walked over, feeling her emotions swirl around in her chest.
“aren’t you tired?”
“I’m fine.”
He smiled and teased, “You slept very quickly last night “
He’d wanted to talk with her after sex, but she had already fallen asleep.
Danika was speechless.
“You’re Mc.Quincey.after all.Even your energy is incomparable,” Danika mocked.
Eustace didn’t mind. He placed a pancake on her plate.
As they lapsed into silence, Danika’s phone rang.
They looked over and saw that it was from Evan.
Their expressions shifted.
“What’s up, Evan?” Danika said.
She felt Eustace’s gaze resting on her, and she was feeling a little anxious.
“I’m outside your apartment building. Where do you live? I’ll come and get you.”
Evan’s voice floated through the speaker. Eustace’s expression turned from nasty to worse.
Don’t You Think It’s Selfish?
“There’s no need.I’ll go over by myself,” Danika declined quickly.
Things were incredibly awkward.
Unfortunately, Evan refused to leave.
“I’m already downstairs.Aren’t you going to let me go up? Besides, you have to move all your things.Can you handle them?”
God knew how happy Evan was when Danika agreed to move in with him.He’d come there early to personally bring her over.
Danika wanted to say that she could, but he was already downstairs.He wouldn’t leave no matter what she said.
“I’ll come down to get you.”
“It’s alright.I have an assistant.Just tell me which floor you’re on.”
Evan didn’t want to trouble Danika.He was wheelchair-bound, but that didn’t mean he had completely lost his mobility.
Danika had no choice but to tell him which floor she was on.She hung up and looked at Eustace anxiously.
“Evan is coming up.Why don’t you…”
Danika opened her mouth to speak but didn’t know how to express what she wanted.
Eustace had made this breakfast.How could she chase him out? Eustace knew what she wanted to say, but he didn’t want to leave.
“It’s not like I have to hide.Do I have to avoid him?”
“I’m just worried that you’ll fight with him.”
Both of them were important to her.She didn’t want that to happen.
