When she didn’t move, Howard pushed her forward. “Boss, she’s just too worried about you. She’s still in shock upon seeing that you’ve woken up.”

Evan glanced at him and then said, “All of you leave. I want to chat with Danika alone for a while.”
“Evan…” Olivia didn’t want to leave. She didn’t want the two of them to be alone together.
Just as she was about to speak up again, Evan glared at her. His expression was indifferent as he ordered, “Get out!”
Olivia bit her lip, and Howard quickly stepped forward and urged her, ‘Let’s go. Tell me all about the recent situation at home.” Soon, Howard pulled Olivia away, and Danika remained rooted in the same spot.
Evan beckoned at her once more. “Come and sit beside me, Danika.”
After a brief silence, Danika walked over. ‘How’s your injury?”
Despite changing into new clothes and dressing up carefully, her voice was still hoarse. It was obvious, and nothing could be done to cover it up.
“Your voice…Did Howard do that to you?” Evan frowned.
“I’m fine. I was just locked up and not given any food.” Danika smiled as if she really didn’t care.
But Evan’s heart clenched with pain when he heard that. “That bastard!
Don’t worry. I’ll teach him a lesson.”
Teach him a lesson?
Danika looked at Evan and couldn’t help but laugh. “If you care about me, let me leave.”
“Danika-“
“I’m only here because Howard forced me to. You should know that,” Danika cut him off.
Evan knew very well what had happened. Before he was shot and fell unconscious at the airport, the last thing he saw was Howard pointing a gun at Danika. At that time, he wanted to ask Howard to let her go, but before he could speak, he passed out.

Evan knew how much she didn’t want to stay, but he still made her stay. Maybe he really didnt care about what little friendship they had left. Since he didn’t care, Danika felt there was no need for her to care either.
From now on, she and Evan no longer had the same friendship they used to have. Now, what she needed to do was find a way to leave this place.
She didn’t choose to confront Evan. She was very clear that this was his territory, and it wouldn’t do her any good to go up against him.
Moreover, there was also Olivia, who was hostile and constantly trying to hurt her. Danika wouldn’t let her succeed.
“What’s your relationship with Olivia?” Danika asked.

Evan was shocked and then incensed. “How dare she!” “Evan, if you want me to stay, you need to guarantee my safety,” Danika said. If those people from Evan’s group wanted to harm her, it would be too easy for them. This place wasn’t her home country, and these people all had guns. Even if she was skilled, she couldn’t dodge bullets.
Evan didn’t even consider why she was willing to stay and just smiled while promising, “Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, no one will dare to do anything to you.”
Danika then walked out of the room, and Howard was called in. Danika didn’t know what Evan had said to Howard, but the way Howard looked at her changed when he came out.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you to your room,” Howard said, looking at her warily.
He led Danika to a room in the castle that had a particularly good view of the sea. If she opened the window, she could see the ocean outside. Danika was very satisfied with the room. At least it was much better than the dungeon she was in before.
Howard looked at her as she stood by the window and said, “I don’t know what you said to Boss, but since you’re staying, it means Boss treats you like one of his own. I hope you won’t betray his trust.”
There weren’t many people living in this castle. There was only Evan, himself, Olivia, and now Danika. Howard had the feeling that Danika wasn’t the type of person who would easily submit and thought she could be planning something even now.
Danika turned around and smiled at Howard. “Haven’t you been persuading me to stay? Now that I’m staying, you don’t seem too happy.”
Howard shrugged and didn’t say anything in response. Of course, he hoped Danika would stay, but she had to be sincere. However, he also knew that Danika wouldn’t really want that.
“Take care of yourself,” Howard said before leaving the room.
Danika watched the door close, and her eyes became cold. There was no hint of the smile she had just shown.
When Howard went back to Evan’s room, Olivia was there. She’d just found out that Danika had also moved into the castle and was now complaining about it.
“Evan, how could you let that woman move in? Everything here is confidential. What if she…” Olivia was angry, and even more so that Danika was staying on the same floor as Evan. The problem was even she didn’t have that privilege.
Evan’s gaze became as cold as ice as he glared at her. “Olivia, know your place. Danika is my woman. If you dare to disrespect her again, don’t blame me for being merciless.”
Olivia was stunned. She had been with Evan for so many years, and this was the first time he’d said such harsh words to her. Her eyes reddened as tears welled up instantly.
“Boss, it’s already arranged,” Howard spoke up in a timely manner, dispelling the awkward atmosphere in the room.
Evan nodded and instructed him, “Assign a few people to protect her, and don’t let anything happen to her.”
“Boss, this is our territory. There shouldn’t be any problem,” Howard said with a dry laugh. Now that everyone knew Danika was Evan’s woman. Who would dare to touch her?
Evan snorted coldly and glanced at Olivia in an insinuating manner. “I’ve been away for some time, after all. It could be that some people are no longer loyal to me, and I wouldn’t know.”
Howard was helpless and could only nod. “Okay. I’ll assign people to protect Miss Zellweger.”

“It used to be unclaimed territory. The Monaerim government put it up for auction, and someone bought it. We couldn’t find out the specific situation, ” Vincent answered.
After a moment of silence, Eustace speculated, “It seems that the entire island is under Evan’s control, so it’s almost impossible for us to launch a rescue attempt there.’
The person who bought the island was most likely Evan. He set up this place as his stronghold, which was actually quite clever.
“What should we do then? Should we send some people to take a look first?” Vincent asked. As someone who had worked with Eustace for many years, he knew how important Danika was to him. Therefore, even if the rescue mission would be as difficult as going to the moon, Eustace would still do it regardless. It was impossible for him to give up on this.
Eustace remained silent as he formulated a plan. After a while, he said, “Send people but be careful not to get too close to the island. Investigate the surrounding area first, but don’t be too obvious. Make sure not to let Evan’s people notice.”
