“What’s wrong?” Eddie asked, following her gaze.

Vicki bit her lip. “I’m not sure if Baron’s home yet.”

A bad feeling crept over Eddie, but he kept his voice steady. “Maybe you should call him.”

Vicki hesitated for a moment before pulling out her phone and dialing Baron’s number.

It took a while before Baron finally picked up.

“Hey, Baron…” Vicki said softly.

“Busy,” Baron said curtly, and then the line went dead.

Vicki fell silent.

The screen of her phone darkened.

“Your brother…” Eddie started, but Vicki cut him off.

“He’s probably not back yet. Eddie, I’m hungry. Let’s make some pasta,” she said, looking up at him with a bright smile.

Eddie finally let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Then, they walked into the villa together.

It was pitch dark and chilly inside.

Eddie switched on the lights and turned on the heat.

He took off his coat, revealing a camel-colored sweater underneath. Rolling up his sleeves, he said, “Just have a seat, Vicki. The pasta will be ready in no time.”

The sweater hugged his tall, broad frame perfectly, showing off his good looks in a way that made it hard to look away.

Vicki quickly looked down.

She slipped off her coat and got up. “Let me give you a hand.”

“Sure,” Eddie replied with a smile.

Making pasta was simple. They both knew how to cook.

Eddie grabbed a pot, poured in some water, and turned on the stove.

Then he took some herbs and vegetables to use as a side dish.

“I’ll wash them,” Vicki said, taking the vegetables from his hands.

Eddie let her handle it and gently reminded her, “The hot water’s on the right.”

He then started preparing the sauce.

When he finished and turned around, his eyes met Vicki’s. She/happened to look at him as well.

Vicki was still holding the vegetables, but she hadn’t washed them yet.

“Let me do it,” Eddie said.

Suddenly, Vicki.said, “Eddie, you look really handsome when you’re serious.”

Eddie was shocked.

‘Handsome?’ he screamed inwardly. ‘She actually said that?’

His eyes widened in shock as he stared at her, completely caught off guard.

When Vicki saw his reaction, her cheeks instantly turned red.

She quickly looked away, turned on the faucet, and started washing the vegetables.

A radiant smile lit up Eddie’s face. “Thank you.”

Vicki kept her head down, washing the cabbage, and Eddie wasn’t sure if she’d heard him at all.

Working together, they soon had the pasta cooked and set out on the table.

They both ate in silence.

However, Eddie couldn’t stop smiling the whole time.

Every time Vicki snuck a glance at Eddie, she’d catch him looking right back at her with that gentle smile.

Her heart thudded wildly in her chest, completely out of her control.

‘What’s happening to me?’ she thought, flustered.

Though Vicki was innocent, she wasn’t exactly clueless about love.

‘Maybe… I’ve fallen for Eddie,’ she thought.

Even though she’d known Eddie for years, the times they’d actually spent together could be counted on one hand.

How did it happen so fast?

Baron had told her again and again to stay away from Eddie, but she still ended up falling for him anyway.

Vicki’s mind was all over the place, and suddenly, the pasta just didn’t taste right anymore.

“You already full?”

Eddie had finished off his food. Noticing the frown on Vicki’s face, he spoke up.

“Yeah, I’m not really hungry,” Vicki said, snapping out of her daze and pushing her plate away. “Sorry, Eddie.”

There were still about half a plate of pasta left.

Eddie reached out, took it over, and started eating her leftovers like it was the most natural thing in the world.

“Eddie!” Vicki’s eyes instantly widened.

She was utterly shocked by his move.

He was actually eating her leftovers?

“Has he lost his mind?’ she thought, unable to believe what she was seeing.

She wanted to stop him, but Eddie had already eaten some of it.”

Seeing the shock on her face, he just smiled and said, “We shouldn’t waste it.”

“But…” Vicki bit her lip, not sure what to say.

Before she could even react, Eddie had already finished off the rest.

Vicki stared at him.

She seriously had no idea what to say now.

Eddie stood up, gathered the dishes, and took them to the kitchen sink.

Vicki was still in shock.

‘Could it be that Eddie feels the same way about me?’ she wondered.

‘He doesn’t even mind eating my leftovers./Does that mean he likes me too?’

But then another thought hit her: Baron would never be okay with this.

Vicki’s mind was a total mess. When Eddie walked over, she blurted out, “Thanks for hanging out with me today, Eddie. I’m going home, bye.

Before Eddie could say anything, she bolted.

Eddie watched her dash away, lost in thought,

Vicki was so innocent. Her feelings were written all over her face.

Eddie was certain she liked him too.

But it seemed like she had some concerns.
