She headed downstairs with Jade, leaving her brother totally out of the picture.
Jade looked at her with that doting smile on his face. “So, how many do you think we should have?”
As they walked away, Bradley couldn’t hear what they were saying.
Bradley walked in, a smile tugging at his lips as he glanced down at Cameron sitting on the carpet. “Did you have a good chat?”
Cameron nodded with a grin. “Yeah, we really hit it off.”
Camilla was the only one she knew who’d been through the same things. So, of course, they just naturally clicked.
Bradley pulled Cameron into his arms. “Caml gets along with every single one of her sisters-in-law.”
Cameron nodded. “Yeah, she’s great.”
Six months later, Bradley and Cameron’s wedding was held right on schedule.
But even on the night before her wedding, Cameron, the bride-to-be, still had no idea where the ceremony was actually going to take place.
Jacqueline took Cameron’s hand. “Cam, everyone’s already settled into the hotel. You really have no idea where the wedding is happening tomorrow?”
Cameron shook her head. “Mom, Brad’s been in charge of everything from the very beginning. I’m totally out of the loop.”
Jacqueline shook her head. “Why is Brad being so mysterious? Even if he wants to surprise you, the wedding’s tomorrow. He should at least let you know today, right?”
Cameron gave a helpless smile. “He really hasn’t told me, Mom. But it’s okay. I’ll find out soon enough.”
Jacqueline wasn’t worried, just curious. She gently touched Cameron’s face and said with a warm smile, “Well, you should get a good night’s sleep tonight. Rest up and be the most beautiful bride tomorrow.”
Just before bed, Cameron received a call from Bradley.
“Nervous?” Bradley’s gentle voice came through the receiver.
“Not really. You’ve been so mysterious that I’m just curious,” Cameron replied, holding her phone as she curled up lazily on the sofa.
It was late September, and the weather was perfect, not too hot, not too cold.
Bradley let out a soft laugh but didn’t reveal anything. “You’ll find out tomorrow.”
Cameron rubbed the pillow in her arms and asked, “It’s not going to be too over the top, right?”
Bradley chuckled, “Ms. Yates, I’ve kept it simple, just like you asked.”
Cameron smiled, “Good.”
Bradley added, “Cam, get some rest. I’ll pick you up early tomorrow.”
Cameron replied, “Okay, see you tomorrow.”
Bradley said, “Cam, I’m even more excited for tomorrow than you are.”
Ever since Bradley got his memories back, he couldn’t wait another second to marry Cameron. And now, that day was finally about to arrive.
Cameron said with a soft laugh, “Yeah, let’s both look forward to tomorrow.”
The next day, it was five in the morning. Someone knocked on Cameron’s bedroom door.
Still half-asleep, Cameron opened the door and saw Camilla standing outside.
“Cami, you’re here so early?” Cameron asked, leaning against the doorframe.
Camilla lifted a huge makeup case. “Cam, I’m your makeup artist today.”
Cameron blinked in surprise. “You actually know how to do makeup?”
Camilla carried the makeup case into the room. “Of course. Though I have to admit, I’m just a tiny bit worse than Eric.”
She turned to the maid behind her, who was holding a wedding dress. “Just set it down here.”
Cameron glanced over and saw only a black garment bag. “Is that the wedding dress?”
She’d tried the dress on once before, but it was a little too big, so they sent it back to get altered.
Cameron had totally forgotten about the whole wedding dress thing.
Camilla nodded. “Yep. Cam, go wash your face and wake yourself up a bit.”
Cameron headed into the bathroom. Camilla started laying out all the makeup stuff she’d need on the vanity.
Cameron came out quickly, and Camilla got to work on her makeup. As Camilla was working on Cameron’s makeup, her friends started arriving one after another.
Lila got really excited when she saw Camilla. “Ms. Saunders, I’m a huge fan of your acting.”
Camilla smiled, her hands never stopping as she continued with Cameron’s makeup.
Sienna looked at Cameron in the mirror and said with a grin, “Cam, you look absolutely stunning.”
Sienna was Cameron’s bridesmaid today.
Bradley had wanted to go all out with six bridesmaids and six groomsmen.
But Cameron thought that was way over the top, so she shot the idea down.
Amelia patted Sienna on the shoulder. “You’re the only single one left in our dorm. Come on, don’t let work be your whole world.”
Lila grinned, “There are going to be plenty of eligible bachelors at Cam’s wedding today. Sienna, you should totally take your shot.”
Sienna just smiled, “God has his plan.”
Having truly known what it was like to be poor, Sienna understood that work was what mattered most. Since graduation, she’d worked hard and made a lot of money.
As for love, if it came, great. If not, it didn’t really matter to her.
Lila raised an eyebrow. “My son’s already running around on his own, you know.”
Sienna turned to Amelia. “Amy, you’ve been married almost a year-still not thinking about having kids?”
The conversation quickly veered off into other topics. Eventually, though, they circled back to Cameron’s wedding.
Lila grinned, “I’m definitely going to hit up Mr. Saunders for a few more gifts later.”
Amelia nodded. “We can’t let him get away with marrying Cam so easily. We should give Bradley a hard time later.”
Sienna hesitated. “Isn’t that a bit much?”
Camilla laughed too, “Did Brad offend you guys before?”
Lila quickly shook her head. “No, we just want to make it fun.”
Cameron shot them a helpless look. “Guys, can I ask you for a little favor?”.
Amelia raised an eyebrow. “Cam, you’re the boss today. Seriously, you could ask for ten favors and we’d still say yes.”
“Totally, whatever you want,” Lila and Sienna chimed in, nodding along.
Camilla glanced at Cameron in the mirror, curiosity written all over her face.
Cameron smiled, “It’s not a big deal.”
“So what is it?” Lila asked.
Cameron hesitated for a second before saying, “Can you guys not give Brad a hard time later?”
Everyone fell silent.
Gaam
A small smile tugged at Camilla’s lips. ‘Looks like Cam really loves Brad. It’s so nice to see their feelings are truly mutual,’ she thought.
“Are you sure?” Amelia asked, sounding a little exasperated.
Back then, Amelia and Lance had gotten married in a whirlwind. But on their wedding day, her friends had really put Lance through the wringer.
Amelia thought that was only fair. She honestly hadn’t expected Cameron to be so soft-hearted.
Cameron nodded. “Yeah, I’m sure. Just let Brad come in without any trouble later, okay?”
“Huh? Letting Mr. Saunders in directly is too easy,” Lila said.
