“What do you mean?” Bradley asked, still looking puzzled.
Cameron couldn’t help but let out a small, wry smile. She stood up, walked over to the window, pushed it open, and with a single leap, she was gone in a flash.
“No, Cam?” Bradley’s heart skipped a beat. He sprang to his feet and rushed over to the window.
His eyes were wide with panic and worry, but when he looked down, he saw Cameron standing there safe and sound.
Cameron looked up at him and shouted, “Brad, watch me.”
Bradley looked down at Cameron on the ground.
With a running start, Cameron launched herself straight over the castle wall in one smooth motion.
Bradley’s eyes wide in disbelief. ‘Did Cam really just jump out? That wall is 15 feet high. How did she even do that?’ he thought.
Even though Bradley could hardly believe it, he had to accept it. After all, it happened right before his eyes.
‘So all my little tricks must have seemed like a joke to Cam,’ he thought.
Cameron strode right back into the castle, headed downstairs, then scaled the wall up to the second floor with nothing but her bare hands- fast and effortless.
Bradley’s jaw dropped all over again.
With a light hop, Cameron slipped straight into the room.
Cameron glanced at Bradley, who was still staring at her in disbelief. “Brad, did you really think you could keep me locked up?”
Bradley froze, at a loss for words. After a long moment, he finally muttered softly, “Cam, why didn’t you leave back then?” ne how
Cameron shook her head. “I don’t know. I didn’t even realize how I felt about you back then, but I guess my actions spoke for me before I even knew it myself.”
Bradley’s eyes widened in shock. “Wait? Are you saying that you already liked me, even seven years ago?”
Cameron nodded. “Yeah. Looking back over the years, I think I did. I just didn’t realize it myself at the time.”
Before Cameron could finish, Bradley caught her arm and pulled her into his arms.
“Cam?” Bradley whispered her name softly, and before she could say anything, he lowered his head and captured her lips in a kiss.
For an entire month, they hadn’t seen each other-not once. Bradley missed her every second of every day. But he just couldn’t bring himself to come back.
Bradley was too ashamed to face her. But what terrified him most was the idea of losing Cameron for good.
Bradley couldn’t even forgive himself for the crazy things he’d done, let alone expect Cameron, the one forgive him. who’d suffered because of him, to
But Bradley never realized that the only reason he was able to keep Cameron back then was due to her indulgence.
The kiss was overflowing with Bradley’s emotions, a whirlwind of longing, nervousness, and joy.
Cameron hooked her arms around his neck, pulling him closer in response. Bradley’s kiss only grew more passionate.
After what felt like forever, he finally, reluctantly let Cameron go. But his hands still stayed firmly around her waist.
Cameron’s breath was a little shaky as she looked up at Bradley, his eyes tinged red at the corners. “Are you still going to keep running from me?” she asked, her voice soft but steady
“I’m sorry,” Bradley whispered, lowering his head until his forehead gently touched hers.
“It’s okay.” Cameron replied softly.
Bradley reached up and pulled the curtains shut, and the room grew darker.
Cameron shot him a puzzled look.
Bradley spoke first. “Cam, is tonight okay for you?”
“Huh?” Cameron blinked, even more confused.
Bradley lifted her up, and Cameron instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist.
He carried her over to the big, fancy bed, his voice low and rough. “After all this time apart, how could one kiss ever be enough?”
Cameron was speechless. ‘Wasn’t he just looking all sad and remorseful a second ago?’ she thought. ‘Men sure can change their tune fast. When Bradley finally pulled away from her lips, Cameron finally had a chance to ask, “Brad, it’s been so long-did you miss me?”
Bradley didn’t answer with words. Instead, he showed her exactly how much he’d missed her.
By the time Cameron finally opened the curtains again, the sky outside had turned a deep shade of twilight.
She sent Jacqueline a quick WhatsApp message, letting her know she wouldn’t be home for dinner tonight.
Bradley draped his long arm around her, watching as she played with her phone. He let out a soft sigh. “Cam, don’t go home tonight.”
Cameron shot him a look. “So you went off the grid, and now you want me to disappear with you, too?”
Tightening his grip on her hand, Bradley chuckled softly, “I just don’t want to be away from you so soon.”
Cameron set her phone down and looked at him. “Don’t you live right next door to me?”
Bradley tightened his arms around her. “I don’t want to be apart from you for even a second.”
Cameron pinched his chin. “Then why did you disappear for so long this time?”
Bradley opened up, his voice sincere. “I was just afraid you would abandon me.”
Cameron murmured, her voice soft, “I already said yes to marrying you, didn’t I?”
Bradley rested his chin gently on her hair and let out a quiet sigh. “Guess I was just being silly.”
Cameron sat up in his arms. “Brad, after dinner, come home with me. My family’s pretty mad you vanished on us like that.”
‘Gavin is especially pissed. Dad’s been kind of gloomy, too,’ she wondered.
Bradley sat up too, reaching for his gold-rimmed glasses on the nightstand and putting them on. He nodded. “Alright, I’ll go back with you and apologize in person.”
Two hours later, Cameron and Bradley walked hand in hand into the Yates Manor’s main hall.
The Yates family fell silent for several seconds because of Bradley’s sudden arrival.
Jacqueline was all smiles. “Brad, you’re back.”
Levi kept a stern face, clearly still unhappy about Bradley’s sudden disappearance.
Amelia chimed in, “Bradley, you finally showed up. Cam’s been going crazy looking for you for over a month.”
Lance said, “Good thing you’re back.”
Gavin scoffed, “You’ve got some nerve showing up here, huh?”
“Gavin, better-” Cameron started.
“Cam, stay out of this,” Gavin interrupted.
Gavin immediately pulled her behind him before she could say another word.
Bradley flexed his fingers, missing the warmth of Cameron’s hand that had just been there.
He looked at Levi and Jacqueline sincerely, then gave a slight bow. “Mr. Yates, Mrs. Yates, Gavin, Lance, Lwant to sincerely apologi disappearing all of a sudden. I’m truly sorry.”/
Gavin scoffed, “You think just saying sorry is enough? How are you going to make up for the hurt you caused Cam? Do you even know what she’s been through this past month?”
Bradley pressed his lips together and met Cameron’s gaze, his eyes full of regret. “I know. I’m sorry.”
He never actually left Viremont the whole month.
While Cameron was searching for him, he kept his distance, avoiding her, yet secretly watching over her from the shadows. It was a constant tug-of-war inside him.
Cameron was miserable, and he was suffering just as much.
Cameron shook her head gently.
Levi watched her reaction and sighed softly to himself, though his face remained stern. “Don’t let it happen again.”
Gavin frowned. “Dad, you’re just going to let him off the hook like that? He left Cam hanging for a whole month.”
Jacqueline chimed in, “Come on, Gavin. Brad must have had his reasons.”
Gavin shot back, “I think he just doesn’t care about Cam.”
Bradley said solemnly, “Mr. Yates, Mrs. Yates, Gavin, Lance, I promise nothing like this will ever happen again.”
