Evan nodded and looked at Howard.

“Put Danika’s things in the room.”

“Alright.”

Howard took her suitcases upstairs.

Danika stared as Howard left.It was then that Evan introduced him to her.

“He was my assistant when I was overseas. When he heard about the incident, he flew over to see me.You can order him around in the future.”

“He…probably isn’t just an assistant, is he?”

Danika smiled dryly.

She wasn’t clueless about what Evan did.

How could he have an assistant in this situation? Evan was stunned.

He’d forgotten that he had already told her about his business overseas.

Although Danika didn’t know that he was the commander of a troop of assassins, she knew that the work he did was dirty.

He snapped back to reality and smiled, saying, “It’s not as bad as you think.

I was just a muscleman.

Because of my skills, I managed to have a few students.”

“Is that it?”

Danika was surprised. She thought that Evan was the ringleader of some sort of gang.

“Of course.Don’t overestimate me.”

Evan smiled, not planning on continuing the topic.

Danika didn’t press on.She remembered Eustace saying that the doctor would arrive in two days.

“There’ll be a doctor coming in two days. Why don’t you let him perform a checkup on you?”

“Alright.”

Evan wanted to refuse, but he couldn’t say it to Danika. He would never let the doctor touch him.

As for what to do when that happened, Evan wasn’t too worried.

Once the room was cleaned up, Evan told Danika to rest.He went back to his own room.

Howard was already waiting for him.

“Have you found that missing henchman?” Evan said, getting up from his wheelchair.

If Danika walked in now, she would be able to see this astonishing sight.

Unfortunately, she was staring into space in the other room. She would never, in a million years, think that Evan’s injuries were fake.

Howard looked upset.

“Not yet.”

“Keep looking. We must find him no matter what.”

Evan would be at ease if he were dead.

What he feared was if he was still alive and was being held hostage by someone.

Especially if that someone was Eustace.

At the thought, he said, “Get someone to observe movement on Eustace’s side. You know what to do if he’s found with the hostage.”

“Alright.”

Howard nodded and asked, “How long are you planning to keep up this pretense? I’m afraid that people are going to attack you once they know you’re hurt.”

Evan sneered.

“Really? That would be even better, then.We could finish them all together.”

Evan was no saint.

“But…we don’t have enough men.”

They had suffered a great loss before, and this plan had caused them to lose yet another group of people.

They were already running out of manpower in the country.

“Don’t fret.I’ve already contacted the other side. There will be people joining us soon.”

Evan waved his hand around, wanting to put Howard at ease.

This is My Personal Business

Howard didn’t fret about the matter. He looked at the room next door, seemingly struggling to find the words to say.

“Do you really like Danika, sir?”

“I’m warning you, don’t you dare harbor any ill-intentions toward her.”

Evan’s face turned sour.He would not allow anyone to lay their hands on Danika, not even Howard.Howard turned pale, understanding what Evan meant.

“You care too much for her. That’s not good.”

If he cared too much about her, she would become his weakness. If Evan had a weakness, he would not be able to be the commander of his assassins.

“This is my personal business. It’s none of yours.”

Evan waved him off, clearly not wanting to talk about it anymore.Howard had no choice but to stay silent.

“You may leave.”

Evan sat in his wheelchair once more, becoming immobile.

Howard’s eyes flickered. He left the bedroom, saying nothing.

After he left, Evan left his room and knocked on Danika’s door.

Danika was lying on the foreign bed.She wasn’t sleepy, so when she heard the knock, she got up and opened the door.

“What’s wrong, Evan?”

“What would you like to have for lunch? I’ll get the kitchens to prepare it.”

Evan was still wearing a smile on his face as if no trace of sadness was to be seen.

Danika felt that Evan was hard to read. She didn’t care either. She just wanted to take care of him.

“I’m fine with anything. You can make the arrangements.”

Danika didn’t care about it.

Besides, she had no appetite. She pushed him downstairs and went into the kitchen. He ordered them to cook their lunch, and it was all food that Danika liked.

They got along pretty well together.

It was just Eustace who was unhappy.

Vincent had found the best doctor in the world and had brought him to Bardoff City.

Before he went to see Evan, Vincent took the records from the hospital and showed ther to him.

However, after seeing the records, the doctor said there was no way to cure him.

Not even by his hands.

“Is it really that serious?” Eustace said, speaking the doctor’s foreign language perfectly.

The doctor nodded.

“Yes.It is very serious indeed. In fact, even sitting in a wheelchair with this condition is hard to do, much less recover.”

“What do you mean?” Eustace frowned.

“He should be resting in bed.It will be very hard for him to move,” the doctor said.

Eustace thought of how Evan interacted with them in the morning and felt that Evan hadn’t even been in pain in that wheelchair.

He sighed.
