Cameron said, “By the way, Austin’s back. He’ll be here soon.”
“Austin? He’s back already? What brought him back?” Xander looked up at Cameron surprisingly.
His gaze slowly fell on Bradley’s hand wrapped around Cameron’s waist.
Cameron said, “He saw the news and came back to see me.”
Hearing this, Elijah asked with concern, “Cam, they still haven’t caught whoever’s behind all this?”
Cameron shook her head and replied, “Not yet.”
Xander fell silent.
He’d had his own people dig around too, but they’d come up empty-handed.
Whoever was behind this had come prepared – it was never going to be that easy to find them..
Elijah frowned. “Isn’t that dangerous for you?”
Cameron shook her head and said with a smile, “It’s fine. My dad got me a personal bodyguard, plus Brad hardly ever leaves my side. I’ll be fine, really.”
‘Honestly,’ Cameron thought to herself, ‘with my skills, I could handle anything that comes my way. I don’t really need anyone to protect me.’
“Just be careful,” Xander said, his long fingers tapping lightly on the back of his chair as his gaze settled on Bradley
His meaning was obvious, even without words.
Bradley nodded. “Don’t worry. I’ll keep Cam safe.”
Xander’s eyes darkened, but he didn’t say anything.
Elijah stayed silent too.
‘Protect, huh? Bradley had better keep Cam safe,’ Xander mused to himself.
Cameron said, “Let’s sit down and order. I think Austin should be here soon.”
They all took their seats.
It was a large round table.
Cameron naturally sat next to Bradley.
Xander took the seat beside Bradley.
Elijah sat next to Xander.
There were five seats in total.
The seat next to Cameron remained empty.
The four of them began ordering food.
“Hey guys!”
About ten minutes later, just as a plate of cold appetizers, was being served, Austin finally arrived.
“Cam! Brad! Eli! Xan!”
Austin greeted everyone with a big smile, tossing his signature short blond hair as he sat down next to Cameron.
“Looks like I made it just in time,” Austin said with a grin.
Cameron nodded. “Yeah, perfect timing.”
Austin immediately looked Cameron up and down, not even trying to hide it. “Cam, you okay?”
Cameron shook her head. “I’m good, but thanks for worrying about me.”
Austin checked Cameron out again, grinning. “Cam, you look amazing tonight. Can’t believe we lived together in 316 for three months and I had no clue you were a girl the whole time.”
Austin was totally over it now.
Now, Cameron felt just like family to him.
He could praise Cameron without a second thought, completely at ease.
Elijah and Xander both thought Cameron looked gorgeous tonight, but neither of them said a word.
Cameron couldn’t help but smile, “I was deliberately hiding it from you. Of course you wouldn’t notice so easily
Xander joked, “Cameron, if I’d known you were a girl from day one in 316, I would’ve started chasing after you right then. Brad probably wouldn’t have even stood a chance.”
Cameron laughed, “Oh, Xander, don’t joke around.”
Elijah found himself wondering the same thing as Xander.
He was the one with all the advantages.
He sat next to Cameron in class during the day, and was his roommate at night.
With all those chances, he still let them slip right through his fingers.
Austin laughed, “Cam, I even thought you had a thing for me back then… Hahaha…”
Cameron was speechless again.
Dishes kept coming out, one after another.
Everyone started cracking up, swapping stories about all the wild stuff that happened back in Room 316.
The atmosphere was buzzing.
Bradley just watched them with a gentle smile on his face.
After all, those memories weren’t his to share.
After a few rounds of drinks, Xander turned to Cameron and asked, “Cam, when you first moved into 316, I kicked your door, and Brad came to your rescue? Is that when you started liking him?”
Cameron thought for a moment, then nodded. “Yeah, I guess so.”
Bradley’s smile widened.
Austin smiled, “Brad’s such a warm guy. So that’s your type, huh, Cam? If I’d known you liked warm guys, I would’ve tried being one myself!”
Elijah lowered his gaze.
‘What was I doing the day Cam moved into 316?’ Eli wondered to himself.
‘I was warning her not to disturb my studying,’ he recalled.
‘Turns out, I was already at a disadvantage from the very beginning,’ he realized.
‘So no matter what I did after that, it didn’t make a difference, he thought with a hint of regret.
Elijah finally let it all go for good.
He lifted his glass. “Cameron, Brad, congrats to you both. And hey, don’t forget to invite me to your wedding the
“And me!” Austin chimed in, raising his glass as well.
Xander stood up, gazing at Cameron with deep emotion. “Wish you happiness.”
“Thanks,” Cameron said.
“Thank you all,” she added..
Bradley and Cameron raised their glasses too. The five of them clinked their glasses together, letting all their feelings sink into the wine. From this moment on, all that was left between them was their heartfelt blessings for the days ahead.
Time slipped by in a flash.
In the blink of an eye, six months had passed and the New Year had arrived,
Since that incident, nothing bad had happened around Cameron. Still, Levi made sure bodyguards stuck to her like glue, never leaving her side.
The New Year was just around the corner.
Bradley’s law firm had also started its holiday break.
