The moment he saw the news, Xander immediately had someone dig into the whole story.
When he learned they still hadn’t found the mastermind, he couldn’t help but worry about Cameron.
He knew he didn’t really have to call, but he just wanted to hear her voice.
Cameron said, “Xander, I’m fine. Thank you.”
Xander spotted Bradley in the news photos from the scene.
He said, “You free tonight? I want to grab dinner with you and Brad.”
Cameron said, “Hang on.”
Cameron turned to Bradley. “Brad, Xander wants to grab dinner with us tonight. You free?”
“Xander? Yeah, I’m down,” Bradley said.
Xander was left speechless for a moment.
He really didn’t expect Cameron and Bradley to be together.
Xander finally just said, “See you tonight then.”
Cameron said, “See you then.”
Bradley wrapped an arm around Cameron and asked, “You and Xander are pretty close, huh?”.
Cameron said, “I used to tutor him a bit back in high school.”
Bradley sighed, “I don’t remember that.”
Cameron said, “It’s really not a big deal, Brad.”
But Bradley really wanted to recover those lost memories.
But there was nothing he could do.
Later that afternoon, Cameron got a call from Elijah Moore. www.
Ever since she’d had dinner with him and told him she was going to be with Bradley, Elijah had only left a congratulatory comment on one of her Instagram posts.
Even though their companies were working closely together, they hadn’t run into each other since.
Cameron couldn’t return Elijah’s feelings, and she thought maybe it was for the best.
But now, out of the blue, Elijah was calling her again.
“Why aren’t you answering?” Bradley asked, watching her phone screen light up.
Cameron snapped out of it and picked up.
“Hey, Eli,” she said.
“Cam, I saw the news. Are you okay?” Elijah asked, his voice full of concern.
Cameron said, “Yeah, I’m fine. It’s all sorted out now.”
Elijah said, “Cam, you and Brad… I just wanted to say congratulations.”
Cameron said, “Thanks, Eli.”
Bradley chimed in, “Hey Cam, how about we ask Eli to join us for dinner tonight?”
Bradley and Elijah had been pretty tight back in high school.
But they’d lost touch over the years.
What Bradley didn’t know was that Elijah had blocked him everywhere.
Cameron fell silent, staring at Bradley for a few seconds. Before she could say anything, Elijah’s voice came through the phone. “Okay, I’m free tonight.”
Cameron said, “Eli, just so you know, Xander will be there too.”
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the moon quietly rose into the sky.
Cameron and Bradley were driving to meet up with Xander and the others at a private restaurant when her phone rang. It was
Austin.
“Cam! I’m back!” Austin’s voice was filled with excitement.
Cameron paused for a moment. “You’re back? Where are you?”
Austin said happily, “I’m at Viremont International Airport. Where are you? Is it okay if I come to see you now?”
Cameron turned to look at Bradley, who was driving. “Brad, Austin’s back.”
Bradley raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Let him join us.”
Cameron nodded slightly. “Austin, Brad and I are on our way to meet up with Elijah and Xander. Do you want to join us?”
“Xan and Eli are there too? That means everyone from 316 will be there! Of course I want to come. Wait for me, Cam!” Austin said excitedly.
Cameron sent him the address.
When Cameron and Bradley arrived, Elijah was already there.
He was the first to arrive.
Actually, Xander was the first to arrive.
But he parked his car at the entrance of the restaurant and didn’t get out.
It wasn’t until he saw Cameron and Bradley walking in hand in hand that he finally got out of the car, taking his time.
Bradley pushed open the door to the private room and spotted Elijah. He smiled slightly, “Eli, long time no see.”
Elijah stood up and nodded. “Yeah, it’s been a long time.”
His response was rather indifferent.
Elijah used to think of Bradley as a good friend.
But he really couldn’t accept what Bradley had done seven years ago.
There was no way they could stay friends after that.
Bradley was always perceptive, so he quickly picked up on how Elijah was keeping his distance.
But he didn’t dwell on it. He just chalked it up to the fact that they hadn’t seen each other in ages.
“Eli,” Cameron nodded slightly.
Elijah glanced between Bradley and Cameron, then gave a small nod in return.
They really did look good together a perfect match.
Even though Elijah wasn’t happy about losing to Bradley, he still chose to respect Cameron.
All he could do now was give them his blessing.
“Am I late?” Xander asked as he pushed open the door, arriving two minutes after Cameron and the others.
He stepped into the private room.
“Xander,” Elijah said, almost in disbelief at how steady and mature Xander seemed now.
“Eli, long time no see,” Xander replied with a slight nod.
Still in his suit from a meeting, Xander just picked a seat at random and sat down, lifting a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, looking exhausted.
His gaze drifted over Cameron unconsciously.
This was the fourth time he’d seen her dressed in feminine clothes.
After all these years, she took his breath away even more than she did back then.
Xander kept every emotion carefully locked away in his eyes.
