Hence, Zack and Janet would stay temporarily in Gilbert’s villa.

Gilbert didn’t think much of it.

The villa had many rooms, and they wouldn’t take up too much space. He went into the living room.

“Gilbert,” Janet said as she walked out of the kitchen.

She was wearing a nightgown.

Although it wasn’t revealing, Gilbert still felt uncomfortable since they were not familiar with each other.

“It’s late.You should sleep.”

Gilbert went upstairs.Janet called out to him hurriedly, “Hold on.”

Gilbert looked back at her.I made Zack some soup.Would you like some?”

“I didn’t drink,” Gilbert replied.

Then, he disappeared from her sight.

It was then that Janet remembered that Gilbert had sent Danika home.

He probably hadn’t drunk any alcohol. She’d spent a large part of her night eating with her head lowered and hadn’t noticed. She felt a little guilty. She shouldn’t have asked him that. She sighed.

Perhaps because of her fear of Danika and Gilbert refusing to accept her, she became somewhat of a suckup when faced with them. She knew that people would look down on her for doing that, but Zack was someone who treated her the best in all her years. She truly wanted to be with him.

But then…when she thought of all the things she had done before, she couldn’t help frowning.

Would they support her being with Zack if they knew what she had done? She regretted it all very much, but what was the use? After coming of age, she wanted to escape her family and live a good life.

Hence, she tried taking a few shortcuts, but they never worked.

Perhaps the Heavens still favored her somewhat. She met Zack.

Right now, what she wanted most was to win over his heart completely.

She would not let go, no matter what.

She brought the soup to Zack’s room.

He had just taken a shower and was walking out of the bathroom.

When he saw her, he asked, “Why were you gone for so long? I said there was no need to make it.thuyI’m not even drunk.”

“You’ll get a headache tomorrow if you don’t drink it,” she said, handing him the bowl of soup.

He had no choice but to take it.

“You never complain about getting tired.”

“I’m not tired at all.For you, I’ll never be tired.”

Janet smiled at him, stirring his heart. He gulped it all down at once and cradled her in his chest.

If I’ve Done Something Wrong Before

He hugged her tightly.

“Why are you so good to me, Janet?”

“Am I really that good?” Janet wasn’t so sure.

No one had ever called her good before.

“Of course. You’re the best girl I’ve ever met.”

Zack nodded vigorously.

Why else would he love her so much? Janet opened her mouth, wanting to say something. However, she lacked the courage to do so.

“Well, what if one day you find out that I’ve done something wrong before? Would you forgive me?”

“What could you possibly do wrong? They’re just small matters.I wouldn’t care.”

He loved Janet for who she was now.It had nothing to do with her past.It didn’t matter if Zack had lied. His words calmed Janet considerably.

At least, this was a man who truly loved her.She tilted her head and kissed him, wishing she could give him everything.

The next day in the hospital, Danika went to the ward and found that both the girl and the woman were not there. She hurriedly went to the head nurse and learned they had left the hospital yesterday afternoon. She grew weak in the knees.

“Why were they discharged? Didn’t I say I would handle the procedures today?”

“They looked to be in a hurry. They went to the director, and he handled it for them,” the head nurse said.

Danika was panicking.

“Is there any way that I can contact them?”

It was so hard for her to find hope.Danika didn’t want to give up that easily.

“We only have her husband’s number, but I’ve dialed it before. No one picked up.”

The head nurse gave her the number.

Danika nodded and left, taking the number with her.It wasn’t just ignored.

This time, the phone was shut off—she couldn’t contact them. She sighed and went back to her office. She wanted to comfort herself, saying that was how life was.But then, fate had brought her to them.

Wasn’t that part of life, too? She made her decision. She got Melissa to find the woman for her.

Melissa’s contacts were growing. It wasn’t hard for her to find someone now.

Danika could also make Alfred find her, but it wouldn’t be convenient for him.It was better for Melissa to do it.

After all, Danika established the bar so that she could do things like this.

The whole day, Danika waited for Melissa’s news. She was distracted.

Thankfully, there wasn’t much for her to do that day.

The surgeries were all scheduled for the next day, and Bardoff Hospital had other doctors for surgeries.

There were quite a number of neurosurgeons there, and it wouldn’t matter too much if she asked for a few days’ worth of leave.

After work, she received Alfred’s call.

The apartment was ready for viewing. She wasn’t expecting Melissa to be the one to take her to the apartment.

“Alfred told me to take you to the apartment.”

Melissa jingled the keys in her hand, beckoning Danika to follow her.

Danika nodded, at the same time bewildered.

“Why did he tell you to come?”

“You wanted to find out about that woman this morning, didn’t you? I wanted to come to see you anyway to talk about it.When Alfred knew, he got me to take you to the apartment,” Melissa said.

Melissa didn’t go into too much detail, but Danika was no fool.

“You seem to be on good terms with Alfred.”

“We’re…we’re okay.” Melissa blushed.

Danika understood at once.She smiled.

“That’s understandable.Alfred is indeed a genius.He’s a capable man.”

Feeling Sorry for Him?

The blush deepened on Melissa’s cheeks as she stammered, “B- boss, that’s nonsense.I…”

“Have you looked into what I asked?”

Standing beside Melissa, Danika suddenly changed the topic and asked about the young girl and her mother.

Melissa was taken aback by the quick shift.

“Huh? Oh, yeah, I got what you wanted.Let’s check out the apartment now. After that, I’d bring you to meet with the mother and daughter.”

Tracking them down was a piece of cake, but Melissa wondered if she needed to inform Danika about their pitiful fates to mentally prepare her for the visit.

Danika didn’t ask more questions and followed Melissa to the neighborhood entrance. It took them ten minutes on foot to reach the place, which matched her requirements. She was satisfied with the environment as well.

When she saw the apartment, she could not hold back from saying, “I can really trust Alfred to get it right.

“Finding an apartment that satisfied her conditions right away was no easy feat.
