Filed to story: That Campus Prince Is a Girl
Soothed by her touch, Pearl nuzzled Cameron’s knees.
Jacqueline couldn’t believe her eyes, half convinced she was dreaming
She turned to Levi, who beamed with pride. “My baby girl is incredible. You raise a tiger as a pet.”
Jacqueline was speechless.
Gavin stepped forward hesitantly. “Cam, you said if I hug this tiger, you’ll accept me as your brother?”
Though Pearl seemed tame with Cameron, Gavin knew she was a wild beast. A single bite could turn him into her next meal.
Cameron nodded.
Gavin gritted his teeth like a man marching to his death. “Fine.”
“Gavin!” Jacqueline cried out. She turned to Cameron. “Cam, forget about accepting him. You already have one brother-who needs Gavin?”
Gavin knew his mother feared for his safety, and Cameron understood too.
Since Jacqueline was terrified, Cameron decided to end this prank She’d only wanted to tease Gavin for his initial unfriendliness when she’d rejoined the Yates family. In truth, she’d already accepted him after days of bonding.
Before she could speak, Gavin addressed his mother. “Mom, let it be. A promise is a promise-I’ll do it.”
Levi chimed in, “Go on, give it a hug.”
He wasn’t overly worried-Cameron wasn’t reckless. The tiger, fierce as it looked, wouldn’t harm Gavin.
“Gavin…” Jacqueline still fretted.
“Never mind, just go back, Gavin,” Cameron said.
Gavin protested, “No, Cam. If hugging a tiger means you acknowledge me as your brother, then-
“Brother,” Cameron interrupted, “I said, never mind.”
Gavin froze.
Gavin stood completely stunned, never expecting Cameron to call him “brother.”
He even wondered if he’d misheard. The night Cameron returned, she’d called him “brother” once, but he’d foolishly ignored it. Thankfully, she was calling him that now.
“Cam?” Jacqueline asked, beaming. “You’re accepting Gavin?”
Jacqueline wanted her children to get along, but when Gavin had upset Cameron, she’d naturally sided with her long-lost daughter. Now that Cameron accepted Gavin, she was overjoyed.
Levi, equally happy, teased, “Cam, you’re too soft-hearted. Look how poorly that brat treated you, and you forgave him so easily.”
Cameron smited. “Mom, Dad, Gavin’s been good to me. I actually accepted him as my brother a while ago.”
Gavin felt like he must have woken from a dream. Hearing Cameron say she’d already accepted him was a sudden surge of happiness that nearly made him dizzy.
Overcome with excitement, he rushed forward and hugged Pearl before anyone-even the tiger-could react.
Pearl was knocked to the ground and let out a warning growl, eyeing Gavin fiercely.
The roar was deafening, but Gavin held on tight, shouting, “Cam, I did it! I did it!”
Cameron sighed, half-amused.
“Gavin!” Jacqueline’s legs went weak with fear. She couldn’t fathom why her son would take such a risk after Cameron had already forgiven him.
Levi commented, “You’ve got some guts, at least.”
Cameron pulled Gavin up. “Gavin, you scared Pearl.”
Pearl let out a pitiful whimper. If it hadn’t sensed Gavin’s connection to Cameron, it would have attacked before he even reached it.
Gavin smiled as Cameron helped him up. “Should I apologize to him?”
Cameron nodded.
Grinning at Pearl, Gavin said, “Sorry, Pearl. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Pearl flicked her tail, ignoring him.
Cameron knelt to rub Pearl’s head. “Pearl, we’re taking you home now. We’re going to a new place, and that’ll be your home from now on.”
Pearl nuzzled Cameron’s palm obediently. Wherever Cameron was, that was home.
After Cameron briefed the castle steward, the Yates family left with Pearl. Along the way, she briefly explained how she’d gotten Pearl.
At Viremont Global Law Firm, Bradley sat in his office, staring at the Silvermoss Castle security feed on his phone.
After Cameron and her family took Pearl, the animal trainers packed up and left, leaving only the steward behind.
Bradley felt an emptingas inside, in the past, he might not have understood why, but now he knew it was all because of Cameron.
With Cameron and Pearl gone, the castle felt meaningless.
Bradley turned off the feed and smiled faintly. In a few days, he’d go see Cameron.
In the blink of an eye, October arrived. Ever since the first day of school when Cameron had angered him into leaving, Xander had never contacted her again, practically vanishing without a trace.
Cameron naturally didn’t reach out to him either.
Gavin had already sent all the gifts Xander had bought for Cameron back to Murphy Manor through express.
The day Cameron publicly rejected Austin, he’d disappeared afterward-likely truly wounded in pride.
As for Elijah, newly aware Cameron was a girl, he was still reveling in the joy. Fearful of inadvertently revealing his feelings too obviously, he dared not seek her out, not wanting to end up like Austin, unable to even be friends with her.
Bradley showed remarkable patience.
College life was full of new experiences, so he deliberated and decided not to disturb Cameron for the time being.
On the first Sunday of October, Cameron went alone to the nearest 4S shop to buy a car. She needed wheels to conveniently visit her company.
Though David was running the company and she trusted him, it was still hers-she couldn’t truly ignore it all.
After outlining her budget and needs to the salesperson, he led her to a black Volvo.
“Sir, how about this car? Please have a seat and try it out,” the salesperson said earnestly, holding open the door.
Cameron didn’t correct his address. Nodding, she was about to get in when someone called her name.
“Cameron, it really is you! What are you doing here?” The one who stopped her was her roommate, Sienna in a 4S shop uniform and holding promotional flyers-apparently working a weekend part-time.
Cameron was surprised too. “Yeah, What a coincidence.”
The salesperson hadn’t expected Sienna to know Cameron and quickly gestured to her, hoping their connection would seal the deal. But get it. She asked Cameron, “Are you here for a part-time job too?”
Cameron was speechless.
The salesperson glared at Sienna. “Are you stupid? This sir is here to buy a car.” a didn’t
“Buy a car?” Sienna was astonished. This brand’s cars weren’t cheap-even a basic model cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The latest models in front of Cameron were even pricier.
In Sienna’s eyes, Cameron, who she thought was as poor as her family, couldn’t afford this.
Cameron nodded. “Yes, I’m here to buy a car.”
Sienna was beyond shocked, realizing she’d misunderstood-Cameron’s family must be wealthy.
Standing there, Sienna felt like a fool.
Cameron noticed her expression and said naturally, “Sienna, come take a look at this car. We might go out together often in the future-your input would help.”
Sienna stared at Cameron in disbelief, touched by the trust.
Delighted, she gently ran a hand over the expensive bodywork. “These cars are all great.”
