And with that, her final resistance broke completely.

“Okay.”

At last, Caden got the answer he sought, and a satisfied smile spread across his face.

His eyes sparkled not only with desire but also with the thrill of victory.

“Okay, what?” He yearned for more.

Alicia, now defenseless, pressed her lips tight and remained silent.

Caden understood it was time to ease off.

He held back, not pressing her further.

Alicia realized she couldn’t retract her words now and scolded herself aloud, “I’m not that easy to win over. Later, you need to get on one knee and formally propose.”

Above them, a drone buzzed, its camera capturing the joyous occasion.

Caden ended their kiss and drew her close, his coat hiding her blushing face.

“I’ll kneel on the bed later,” Caden replied with a mischievous tone.

“How would you like me to kneel? Tonight, your wish is my command.”

Alicia shot him a sharp look.

Her mild rebuke carried no true harshness.

Yet, it only seemed to excite Caden more.

The ring was placed, and her nod sealed their pact.

What more was there to delay?

The fireworks were endlessly bursting, and the rolling ads on the skyscraper screens were merely for those watching online.

Caden had other priorities.

The room, set up long before, featured a 180-degree panoramic view of the glass skyscraper with the billboard.

The setting inside was a vision of romance, luxury, and splendor, a delight to all who entered.

Rose petals covered the bed.

Alicia found herself gently pushed onto it, yielding to Caden’s fervent kisses.

It had been a while since their last encounter, and they responded to each other’s touch with intense passion.

Caden gazed at Alicia’s blissful expression and chuckled lightly.

“Are you still feeling any discomfort?”

Alicia’s eyelids were half-closed, and her cheeks tinged with a rosy glow.

She simply shook her head.

Her body reacted intensely, holding onto him tightly.

Caden adored her responsiveness, playfully nibbling on her earlobe.

“Should we head to the hospital for another checkup?”

Alicia’s throat felt parched as she whispered, “No.” What purpose would a checkup serve right now? It seemed utterly irrelevant.

He had been the one rushing, yet now he delighted in teasing her.

She felt a mix of love and frustration towards him for this.

Caden teased, “I need to figure out why your reactions are so immediate. A single kiss or touch sends you soaring.”

Alicia’s face heated up at his forward comment.

“Stop it.”

Caden didn’t let up, his tone increasingly playful.

“Am I mistaken? Since you’ve been with me, it’s as if your body can’t go a day without my touch.”

Alicia reached her limit, frowning as she attempted to move away, but her hand brushed against something hidden under the sheets.

Thinking it might be a present, she pulled it out.

“What’s this?”

Caden looked at it, a sly smile spreading across his face.

“Just open it. I think you’re going to like what’s inside.”

Alicia bit her lip, a smile playing on her lips as she opened the box, only to discover it was filled with condoms.

Her mouth fell open in astonishment.

Caden nonchalantly grabbed one, ripping it open with his teeth.

His eyes gleamed with an unmistakable longing.

Alicia had no room to refuse.

She could only plead with him to be gentle and hope for the best.

“Gentle isn’t exactly your style, though, right?” Caden pointed out in a playful tone.

Alicia smacked him in the arm and muttered, “Shameless.”

As Caden leaned in to press closer against her, Alicia shifted her position and inadvertently looked out the window.

Once again, she stared at the majestic sight before her-the towering skyscrapers, the banners in the sky spelling out Caden’s marriage proposal, and the luxurious castle.

Her heart softened.

“How much did you spend on tonight?”

Caden clicked his tongue.

“Seriously? Why would you ask something so trivial at a time like this?”

Alicia bit her lower lip.

“I can’t help but think it’s a waste,” she murmured.

After all, everything would be gone in the morning.

Just the thought of it brought a pang to her chest.

But Caden silenced her dreary thoughts with a deep kiss.

He didn’t stop until he heard her breathe a contented sigh.

Unfortunately, good things never last, as the saying went.

The phone that had dropped to the floor began to ring.

They let it be, and the call automatically dropped.

Then the phone rang again.

Caden was set on ignoring it.

All he wanted was to spend a wonderful evening with his future bride.

No one was allowed to disturb them.

But the phone rang incessantly, to the point that they had lost count of the number of calls they might have missed.

Just when they thought the caller had finally stopped, Alicia’s phone started to ring again.

Her heart skipped a beat, and she grabbed Caden’s hands to halt their wandering.

“Maybe it’s something important.”

They had never been called so persistently before.

She couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

Caden took her hand and leaned over the bed to glance at the caller ID.

It was Hank.

Something flickered in his eyes.

He had a rough guess as to why the man was calling them.
