With a sudden surge of strength, she managed to pull him down onto her. Just like that, Sean fell flat onto her, their lips touching.
“Mm…” Tatiana moaned weakly, toes curling in response.
Sean’s eyes widened at the touch, with an increased blood flow surging through his body in an instant.
He thought that Tatiana tasted so sweet-just like cotton candy.
Tatiana wrapped her arms around his neck as her awareness faded, gently kissing and sucking on his lips.
Their kiss deepened.
The crescent moon outside seemed to watch on approvingly as the minutes went on.
The evening ended in an unceremonious tone due to Simon’s presence. The Lynch family had driven over via three separate vehicles.
Before they left, Spencer said crossly, “Sit with me, Simon. We need to talk. Sean, go with your mother.”
Simon pursed his lips but did not refute.
Sean, meanwhile, sat in the backseat of their car with his mother while Steven sat in the front passenger seat.
Sinead noticed the flush on Sean’s face and his uneven breathing. Worried, she asked, “Are you alright, dear? Do you have a fever?”
“Hm? What did you say, Mom?” Sean asked, distracted. He still hadn’t recovered from that kiss earlier.
“Your face is so red, dude.” Steven looked at his brother from the rearview mirror. “You know, my face was exactly that color when I had my first kiss.”
“Shut up.” Sean scowled, blushing further. “Don’t worry about me, Mom. I’m alright.”
“By the way, I’ll be here tomorrow morning to fetch Ms. Alyssa and drive her back to Solana City. It’s time I get back to work.”
Sinead thought back to when her beloved youngest son knelt to clean Alyssa’s feet. She wrinkled her nose, saying, “You were doing just fine by Mr. Jonah’s side, Sean. He’s KS World’s CEO, after all.
“Why are you going back to Ms. Alyssa’s side now? What kind of future would that hold for you? Winston will want to pass his family business onto his sons one day, not his daughter.”
“Haven’t you read the news, Mom? Ms. Alyssa’s been taking Solana City by storm,” Steven cut in excitedly.
He continued, “The netizens are even calling her ‘Queen of Pseudonyms’ now. By the looks of it, she’s nearly as capable as her brother, Jonah.”
“That’s because she has her father to help her!” Sinead said, still upset.
Sean held his mother’s hand and said earnestly, “Mom, Ms. Alyssa is very generous and kind to me. She needs me. And as long as she still needs me, I’ll always be there by her side… until she decides otherwise someday.”
Sinead was astounded and felt as though she had been neglected or had slipped from importance to a child who was now wholly engrossed with their fiancee.
Spencer gazed incredulously at his younger brother. Sean had basically confessed his love to Alyssa
Taylor.
*Sean, does Alyssa return your affection?” Sinead asked, still worried about her son. She felt like Alyssa might have seduced him into whatever this was. She didn’t want her pride and joy to go to waste like this!
Sinead added, “Look at what Alyssa made you do! Just because we owe it to the Taylor family didn’t mean they could just treat you like you were subservient!”
Sean hugged his mother, seeing the tears in her eyes. “You overthink, Mom. Ms. Alyssa truly is kind to me. She never demands or orders me around. I do what I do of my own volition.”
Meanwhile, the atmosphere was getting heavy and dense in the other car.
“Stay out of the Taylor family’s way from now on!” Spencer reprimanded sternly.
Spencer continued, “Do you not remember what I’ve always taught you? Never forget those who have
“Besides, your net worth is already more than millions! Why do you still need to go work with the Walsh family and turn against the Taylors?”
“I did nothing wrong! The Taylor family is the one who’s pushing my limits!” Simon gritted out, feeling contempt at the humiliation he had suffered earlier tonight.
Simon added, “Alyssa must have told her father about this. That’s why he bought out Evergreen Capital and took control of my firm!
“I refuse to let her get the best of me! I’m going to make her regret it if it’s the last thing I do!”
“When will you wake up from this delusion of yours?” Spencer angrily slapped Simon across his cheek.
Spencer asserted, “Listen and do as I say. I am your father. I.won’t let you down! Do you think you can manipulate the Taylors like the Walsh family? They’re more close-knit than you can imagine.
“I know that better than anyone else! Trying to attack one of them is waging war with their entire family.
You’ll lose everything you have!”
But Simon was still adamant. In the end, all Spencer could say was, “I’m warning you, you can go dig your grave all you like, but keep our family out of this!”
After clearing things up with Alyssa, Sean returned to work by her side. Though his first love had to end so abruptly and sadly, it was still an end to something he had been holding on for years.
What remained on his mind was that kiss from that night in Tatiana’s bedroom.
“Sean. Sean? The eggs are burning!”
Alyssa’s yell jerked him back to the present.
Smoke billowed from the grayish-looking lumps in the pan before him.
“Shit!” He quickly switched off the stove and tossed the pan in the sink before turning on the tap.
“What is up with you? You’ve been so distracted lately.” Alyssa hurriedly came over to see if he had suffered any burns.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Alyssa. I haven’t slept very well these past few days. Please, let me make another omelet for you.”
Sean was about to scrub the blackened pan when Alyssa stopped him.
“No need. We’re running out of time. Let’s just grab breakfast at a cafe outside. I need you to drive me to
Crater Mountain Park later. I want to go see Mr. Forrest.”
Alyssa opted for a mediocre-looking sedan for her drive to the park later that day with Sean’s company.
13 years ago, she had nearly lost her life here while searching for her mother’s belongings. Supposedly, the memory should still traumatize her, but that trauma wavered in the face of her determination to be strong.
Ever since that incident, all that changed was that Alyssa would pay the park a visit every year and hike around the area with Elijah Forrest, aiding any trekkers or hikers in peril.
At first, the park rangers underestimated Alyssa, thinking she would go running back to her parents after a day’s work and never return.
To their surprise, Alyssa pushed through every obstacle without complaint, finally leaving a good impression in front of everyone.
Sean looked at her from the rearview mirror. She was clad in full hiking gear, with no makeup on her skin.
She had a robust elegance to her, like some determined huntress.
“I’ll come with you on the trek, Ms. Alyssa. It will be dangerous,” Sean suggested.
“You?” Alyssa squinted at him. “Did you bring any hiking gear? Have you learned anything about the do’s and don’ts? Do you know any techniques to keep yourself safe?”
“No, but I did surf before, so I know how to dive!” Sean grinned.
Alyssa scowled. “Are we even on the same frequency here?”
Sean pursed his lips, mumbling, “I wouldn’t dare stray …”
“What if we get in danger? Are you going to dive into the ocean? Hey, that might not be a bad idea. I’m sure some sirens are out there looking for an unfortunate human to be their spouse.”
Sean awkwardly scratched his head, taking that as a compliment.
The car stopped halfway through the park. Beyond the road were forests and mountains as far as the eye could see, interspersed with faint mist and fog.
Sean gaped in awe at the tall, snowy peaks. “Whoa… that is very tall … It’s massive …”
*Are those the only words that come to mind for you?”
Alyssa shook her head disapprovingly and recited a poem with a hint of nostalgia.
