Abigail turned back after preparing the needles and found herself facing a captivating scene.

Lucas lay on the bed, his back muscles clearly defined, strong yet smooth, exuding a sense of power.

His waist appeared exceptionally slender, yet radiated a quiet strength. Moving downward, his firm, rounded hips were visible under the clothing, showing the perfect curve. His long, toned legs were casually stretched out, making the whole scene even more casually seductive.

For a moment, Abigail was lost in thought, wondering how the women in Stonebridge, who were always eager to be close to him, would have reacted. They’d probably want to pounce on him.

She quickly snapped back to reality, pushing those distracting thoughts aside. She walked to the bedside and placed the disinfected needles beside her.

Leaning slightly forward, her delicate fingers gently rested on Lucas’ back. She pressed on a few key acupoints, speaking softly, “Your body’s toxins have accumulated for too long, causing some stagnation in your blood circulation. I’ll be using the acupuncture to clear it. The first session will hurt.”

Lucas let out a soft, steady “Mm,” his voice low and composed, “Go ahead, I can handle it.”

Compared to the pain he endured every night before, this little bit of pain was nothing.

Abigail’s gaze sharpened, and she fully focused on the upcoming acupuncture.

As the needles were inserted, Lucas’ back muscles tensed slightly, but he remained silent, enduring the sharp sting

Abigail’s technique was skilled, one needle after another went into the acupoints, methodically. Before long, Lucas’ back was covered with needles.

Andrew stood by, his forehead sweating with anxiety. His fists were clenched tightly, his eyes fixed on Abigail’s every move, not daring to breathe loudly.

He was worried Lucas wouldn’t be able to withstand the pain and was also doubtful about Abigail’s medical skills. After all, she was only 18, and he wondered if she could truly cure Lucas’ condition.

Abigail secretly admired Lucas’ determination, and her hands moved with even greater care. She began gently twisting the needle, adjusting its depth and angle while closely observing Lucas’ reactions to ensure each insertion had the best possible effect.

Time ticked by, second after second, and the room was filled with a tense, heavy silence.

At last, Abigail finished the first round of needling. She let out a long breath and slowly withdrew the needle, her movements soft and deliberate, trying her best to minimize Lucas’ discomfort.

“All right, that’s it for today. Get some rest first, I’ll write you a prescription for a bath to help with blood circulation and speed up detoxification,” Abigail said as she tidied up the needles.

Lucas slowly sat up and stretched his stiff body. “Thank you, Ms. Gibson. I appreciate your hard work today.”

Abigail gave a small shake of her head and turned to leave to write the prescription.

Lucas noticed her steps were a little unsteady, and his brow furrowed slightly.

Andrew walked over and lowered his voice. “Mr. Hawthorne, the men we sent to Willowstead are back. Abigail did live there before returning to the Gibson family. It matches the file. There’s nothing unusual.”

Lucas gave a slight nod, his eyes dark and thoughtful. “Where was she for the past five years?”

Andrew continued, “The Gibson family publicly claimed she was recovering her health under the care of an old traditional doctor. But in truth, she was locked in an asylum the entire time. I already had someone look into it. According to their treatment records, everything checks out.”

“Oh? Then it seems she’s clean…” Lucas’ fingers tapped lightly against the edge of the bed.

Andrew lowered his head. Yes, everything looked normal on the surface, but Abigail’s impressive medical skills and her personality were completely different from what the reports described. What exactly was she hiding?

After a moment, Lucas spoke slowly. “Send more people into the asylum undercover. I still feel there’s something off about this.”

“Yes, sir.”

Just then, soft footsteps sounded outside the door. Both men immediately fell silent.

Abigail walked in and handed Andrew a prescription along with a diagram. “One medicinal bath per day. After each bath, use the massage techniques shown here. I’ll come back in seven days. If anything happens before then, contact me.”

Andrew accepted it gratefully. “Thank you, Ms. Gibson.”

Abigail gave a small nod, packed up her needles, and looked at Lucas. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading back.”

“All right.” Lucas gave a slight nod in return.

Andrew personally escorted Abigail home.

On the way, Abigail received a call from an unknown number. She glanced at it, then answered. “Hello?”

A few words came through the line. Hearing them, Abigail lifted her eyelids and glanced at Andrew’s back. Her face remained calm as she responded with a few quiet “okay” and “got it”s before hanging up.

When they arrived at the door, Andrew said respectfully, “Ms. Gibson, I’ll come pick you up in seven days.”

Abigail gave a slight nod and turned to enter the Gibson Residence.

The call she’d received moments earlier had come from the head of the asylum. He told her someone had recently started investigating her.

Abigail thought for a moment and immediately figured it had to be Lucas. Given their current partnership, and knowing how cautious he was, he would never stop until he dug up something useful.

Just as she was still considering how to respond, she suddenly sensed something unusual ahead. Before she could react, the sound of vicious barking rang out, sharp and unsettling.

Abigail jerked her head up and saw a large, aggressive shepherd striding toward her with menace in its eyes.

Boone walked toward her, tugging along a massive wolfhound. Daniella, looking flustered, rushed to block him.

“Boone, let’s not go over there,” she pleaded anxiously. “Abigail will be scared. What if she accidentally falls into the pool again? She can’t swim!”

Hearing this, Boone grew even more excited. “Even if she falls in, it’s just a few mouthfuls of water. It’s not like she’ll die,” he said with a laugh.

As he spoke, he actually let go of the leash.

The huge wolfhound lunged straight at Abigail, and right behind her was the swimming pool. Everything was exactly like it had been five years ago.

Seeing the wolfhound charge, Abigail moved swiftly, her body tilting aside like a flash of light. At the same time, a glint of silver flickered at her fingertips.

The wolfhound missed its target and landed heavily, then spun around and bared its fangs, launching another attack.

Abigail seized her chance. The moment the wolfhound leapt into the air, she caught its neck mid-pounce and slammed it viciously against the edge of the pool.

The wolfhound let out a piercing howl of pain and snapped its jaws at her.

With a sharp glint, the silver needle in Abigail’s hand flashed. She struck ruthlessly, plunging the needle deep into the wolfhound’s eye and into its skull.

Blood sprayed out instantly, splattering some onto Abigail’s face.

The wolfhound’s agonized howls sent chills down the spines of the nearby servants, who broke out in goosebumps.

After defeating the wolfhound, Abigail slowly turned around.
