All the lycans had their assignments, but no one answered me. I’m still a transparent person, I thought.

I didn’t want anyone to see my mess, so I chose to climb up on the branches, leaning against the trunk to relax my trembling limbs. My hair was already wet with sweat, and I pulled up my sleeve to cover my face. The slight pain of the fabric running across my face gave me an inexplicable pleasure.

I tried to catch my breath and opened my eyes to look at Callum in the distance. His Royal Highness was surrounded by his men, his cold face without any expression. His men had set the campfire and cooked the food. The delicious smell of food came from the wind. They took out their bowls and respectfully let him taste it. I heard the sound of my own gulping.

“Jane, come down and eat.”

Alen’s gentle voice under the tree interrupted my thoughts.

Alen, the Prince’s personal bodyguard, was the one who served Callum a drink at the party, and he didn’t sneer at me for being weak. He was probably the friendliest guy on the team. He didn’t have Alpha’s imposing frame. He was thinner, with soft blue eyes, like the sky. I always thought of him as one of those highly regarded gentlemen in human stories.

“Thank you, Alen, but I want to rest in the tree again.” I showed a pale face and smiled gratefully at him. The broth in his bowl smells really good, but I feel weak now. If I go down now, I’m afraid I won’t have the strength to stand.

“Jane, if you don’t have the strength, I can help you. You can jump. I’ll catch you.” He smiled and looked at my exhausted face. He must have seen through my weakness.

“I,” I said. I’m really tired. If someone offered me a quick drink and some food, why would I say no?

“Well, I hope you can keep your word.”

Alen held out his hands and raised his eyebrows at me.

I moved my tired limbs and leaped with my eyes closed.

“It looks like you need more training.”

The deep voice blew into my ears and I felt as if I were lying in a thick body. This doesn’t feel right, does it? I opened my eyes and saw Callum’s face.

What’s going on? Why am I in Callum’s arms? I looked surprised and turned to see Alen standing under the tree. He looked at me and shrugged innocently. Then my head was turned by a large, powerful hand. Callum stared at me with his golden eyes. His good-looking eyebrows furrowed as if I had done something wrong to him.

“What do you mean?” I didn’t understand why he hadn’t put me down yet, but the prince’s pressure kept me from moving.

“I mean,” he said, drawing close to my ear, his hot breath on my neck. My ears began to turn red uncontrollably, and numbness came over my nerves. I began to push him away uncontrollably, though my strength was negligible in his eyes.

“The best way to survive here is to please me, not my guards. Can’t you see the situation, my girl?”

His mocking tone and scorn made me sick and angry, and for a moment I remembered the way Nicole looked at me. I clung to his arm, my lips quivering, but I kept trying to prove my innocence. “I wasn’t trying to please anyone. Alen just brought me a bowl of soup. I was tired. He said he could take me out of the tree, that’s all.”

I don’t care what people say. What’s more, in my childhood, there were more rumors about me than that, and I didn’t care. But his words can break my heart, making me so uncomfortable.

“You’re really weak,” Callum said, sighing as he looked at me.

I don’t know what Callum was thinking, but the next day Callum ordered the team to run as wolves, and Bud was asked to drive me.

The move raised eyebrows in the group. The proud lycans were no camels. When they turn into wolves, they only let their mate ride on their backs, or in some cases, the king and Queen.

But this is an order from His Highness. Despite a look of disapproval in Bud’s eyes, he complied.

So now I’m on Bud’s back, and in the dark of the night, I curl up my arms and legs, trying not to take up too much space. As for Bud, he was a burly lycan warrior with bright brown eyes and long brown hair, but he looked at me with disgust in his eyes.

I understand him. Alen told me that Bud was a great warrior. Now, on Callum’s orders, he’s carrying me like a freight horse, and of course he thinks he’s overqualified.

Callum waved his arm as usual, and the lycans immediately stopped, and Bud immediately bent down to let me down, in a way that couldn’t wait.

“Damn it, that woman feels so strange on me. When will His Highness be able to bring her along himself? This is the woman that he chose himself.” Bud trembled all over his body and muttered to himself as he moved closer to Alen.

Alen touches Bud’s long hair in a funny way and looks at me. He knows I can hear him.

“His Highness’ orders have their meaning. Besides, it’s our future Luna. You should be honored.”

“Really? Look at her. She looks so thin and weak that she can’t turn into a wolf. His Highness is also very strange. He hasn’t talked to her much. Why did His Highness choose her?”

“I don’t know, but either way, I suggest you be nice to her, because…”

I watched Alen transform into a human, and he put his arm around Bud’s shoulder and lowered his voice to whisper until I couldn’t hear them.

Before Callum gives the order, I can talk to Alen and listen to other members of the team gossip about me. But now, even Alen is starting to avoid me.

Thinking of this, I couldn’t help but stare at the man who had started it all. Callum was sitting on a big rock, his back straight and he looked like a sword stuck in a rock.

My gaze may have been so direct that he looked up suddenly. The golden pupils suddenly locked on to me, and I felt my breath stop for a moment.

“Come here,” he told me with his eyes.

I don’t know if I thought about it, but the truth is I went over very obediently, and before I knew it, I was sitting on the grass next to him.

I was definitely mesmerized. After all, he was the prince, and I had found an excuse for my behavior to cover up my out-of-control heartbeat and flushed face.

“Why don’t you speak?” A deep voice came from above me.

“… I don’t know what to say, Your Highness.” I hugged my knees, hung my head, and let my hair cover my face.

“Then why do you and Alen have so much to talk about?”

HMM? I sneaked a look at him, and Callum’s expression was serious, but I felt like he was a little angry.

“Well, I don’t want to disturb you, but the mushroom soup tonight is really delicious. Would you like to try it, Your Highness?”

Alen sneaks up with two bowls of soup. I don’t know when he got here. He’s still as gentle as ever, with a friendly smile. It’s impossible to refuse him.

“Thank you, Alen.” I was about to get up and take Alen’s bowl of soup, but Callum held my shoulder so I couldn’t move, and he took both bowls of soup away before I could.

“Jane, as your host, I’m going to teach you the first rule. Don’t eat other men’s food in front of me.”

Callum looked down at me, and I had to nod under his stare, like a wronged maid to his strict master.

So I missed Alen’s playful raised eyebrow at the word”Master.”.

Callum was probably pleased with my attitude, and then he handed me one of the bowls of soup and said in a lilting voice, “Here, this is the food I gave you. You can eat your food now.”

I have to say, I seem to have rediscovered his intense and unique possessiveness. Since I was the only woman in the group, he went to great lengths to keep his guards at arm’s length from me.

“Your Highness, I received a message from the palace today, from a messenger bird.” Alen’s face became serious. He took out a long, thin scroll about the size of his pinky finger from his arms and respectfully handed it to Callum.

Callum opened the scroll and took out the paper. As he unfolded it, I could clearly see that his face had darkened and his lips were slightly pursed. I didn’t think it was good news.

“Your Highness?” Alen couldn’t resist.

“The people over there want us to go back as soon as possible. They can’t wait,” Callum scoffed as he crumpled the letter into a ball and threw it into an open fire as if he were venting.

“So, what do you mean?” Alen asked calmly, not seeming surprised by the prince’s behavior.

“If they can’t wait, listen to them. Let Bud lead a team back tomorrow. Don’t keep them waiting. As for us,” Callum said, glancing at me as I sat in a daze, “Have Bud send word to the elders that Luna is weak and we need to walk slowly.”

They suddenly spoke of me, but I did not understand their detours and could only stare blankly at them.
