Chapter 681 – Healing My Disabled Husband Novel by Tracy Swift

Filed to story: Healing My Disabled Husband Novel

It wouldn’t have been fair for anyone involved if they did try pushing such an idea onto Ivy – but thankfully nobody ever did so.

After waiting half a moment while Eden remained silent along with everyone else present there, an almost regretful-looking expression crossed over Ivy’s face before she was saying, “Sometimes we do need some greediness. Just one percent missed out like this.”

All eyes turned towards Ivy at once – including Damion himself.

Ivy smiled slightly and said, “I’ll be done with this project in a month, and after that, I want to take a break.”

Damion looked at Ivy in surprise for a long time before asking, “Have you thought about it?”

Ivy nodded and said, “These little babies are so cute. I really like them. I also want to have a baby.”

Damion’s heart skipped a beat and his eyes even turned red.

Eden remained silent for once.

Normally Eden would have teased Damion about how he must have known all along and conspired with Ivy to trick them into feeling envious of their one percent advantage. But no one dared take the bait so they ended up winning as husband and wife.

But everyone knew how much Damion wanted a child.

He wouldn’t ask Ivy to stop pursuing her career just to have their own child. He couldn’t be that selfish towards her.

However, every time he saw these little babies, he liked them so much that he always bought the most toys for them himself.

Eden had asked him before why not just go ahead with Ivy since they both loved children so much? It was natural that she would eventually conceive if they tried hard enough.

But Damion replied by saying that Ivy had suffered too much in the past. Now she finally had the chance to pursue what she wanted without any hindrances. How could he bear letting her sacrifice herself for him?

So Damion never brought up wanting children with Ivy until now when she mentioned it first. His heart was deeply touched by her words.

If there weren’t too many people around or if there weren’t any children present right now, he really wanted nothing more than to hold Ivy tightly in his arms right then and there as an act of affirmation towards their future together.

Ivy had always felt guilty about Damion over the years. She knew how much he loved children, but she also knew that he had left the decision up to her. His actions made it clear that she should focus on living for herself first.

Ivy wanted to see what she was capable of achieving and if she could become an excellent woman. Most importantly, Ivy wanted to prove that she was a woman worthy of Damion’s love.

Even though people who were close to her didn’t think that Ivy wasn’t good enough for Damion, in her heart, Ivy knew there were many people who thought otherwise.

After all, when news of their engagement became public, many people criticized Damion for choosing someone like Ivy instead of one of the many wealthy heiresses or socialites available.

Some even went as far as calling Ivy a promiscuous woman behind closed doors and using vulgar language against her. Before this period in time, these comments didn’t bother her too much. However, now they hurt because they affected Damion too.

She couldn’t bear seeing him being criticized when he was such a kind person at heart. So over the past few years, Ivy focused on building up her career and doing well at work. Even though it was impossible not to rely on Damion’s company somewhat, no one would ever say again that she wasn’t good enough for him.

Perhaps some might call Ivy immature or selfish in wanting to prove herself worthy of his love. Nevertheless, it remained important to her nonetheless.

Now that she had finally proven herself worthy in his eyes and others’, it was time for Ivy consider things from his perspective too. She knew what he wanted out of life and would do everything possible within reason to make him happy.

As Ivy watched Damien get excited about it at this moment, she felt uneasy inside. If only proving something hadn’t been so important, then maybe Damien could have been happy sooner.

Taking Damien’s hand into hers brought tears into Ivy’s eyes. It was hard for her describe her feelings right now but she just wanted him to be happy.

The atmosphere suddenly became a bit heavy, but Eden broke the tension by saying, “By the way, should we up the ante on our bet?”

As soon as he spoke, Walter and Miles both gave him a sharp look.

They were never in a hurry before, but now they were clearly at the bottom of the pack. Even with Ash and Mikayla, not to mention Beata and Yael, they were still at the back of the group.

This made them compete against each other.

Eden wasn’t afraid of their hostile glares. He provocatively said, “Why are you looking at me? It’s your fault for not being proactive. Let’s just change the bet and see who comes in last.”

Patrick was enjoying watching this drama unfold. As one of the earliest members present, he wanted to know who would be last.

He suggested, “I’ll raise my bet. Whoever comes in last between Walter and Miles will manage our company.”

This caused Walter and Miles to grab their pillows from beside them and throw them directly at Patrick.

That bastard! He was really their “good” brother!

At times like this when there was personal gain involved, it was really unforgivable.

Patrick’s suggestion made everyone laugh uncontrollably except for Kelvin who had managed Hayden Group for six months before returning it back into Patrick’s hands again. Now Patrick was racking his brain every day trying to figure out how to get Walter or Miles to take over management duties because Ridge or Rosemary or Perla wouldn’t be able to do so until twenty years later if ever.

Desperate times call for desperate measures so he had no choice but focus on his two brothers instead.

Ben said, “I’ve never seen anything like you guys before. People might think Hayden Group is nothing special.”

If an outsider saw this situation, they would probably think that Hayden Group was just an empty shell since none of its four siblings wanted anything to do with it.

But anyone who knew better understood that Hayden Group’s performance was outstanding, which meant its managers were extremely busy all year round.

Patrick said, “Anyway, if you two don’t figure things out for yourselves soon, someone else will be taking over for me. I’m just trying to help you guys out.”

The current arrangement was that each person managed for six months and then took turns resting. However, if someone’s wife became pregnant during their turn, they can automatically skip that half- year.

Patrick had been thinking about having a second child with Aimee lately but of course he wasn’t planning on saying anything about it. Who knew what these two might do to trip him up?

Walter and Miles stared at Patrick for a while and at some point they both actually thought he had become kinder. But as soon as the idea popped into their heads, they quickly dismissed it – come on now, Patrick being kind? Haha!

So the two of them looked at each other and realized that in this moment their thoughts were aligned.

It looked like it really was necessary to fight for this because otherwise the last one left standing will be Patrick who will definitely finish this bet off.

Unlike Walter and Miles, who were competing not to be the last, Damion and Ivy seemed particularly relaxed.

Although Damion really wanted a child, he also didn’t want to do something without certainty.

Damion also understood how much damage pregnancy can do to a woman’s body.

He didn’t want Ivy to feel uncomfortable at all, so before having a child, Damion took great care in conditioning Ivy’s body.

Ivy couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time. She hadn’t even gotten pregnant yet, and she’d already gone through her postpartum recovery period.

After drinking soup and taking nutritious food for who knew how many days, Ivy said, “If I keep supplementing like this, I will end up overflowing with losses.”

Damion held Ivy’s hand and said, “Just hold on a little longer. Let’s go for a check-up in a few days.”

What can Ivy do? Damion was doing it for her. She was not an ungrateful person and understood why Damion would act this way.

Fortunately, the results of the physical examination were very perfect. Even the doctor said that this may be the healthiest couple during the pre-pregnancy process.

After receiving the medical examination results, Ivy suddenly felt a wave of emotion.

When she was holding onto Damion’s waist, Ivy’s eyes turned red. “Let’s go home and have a baby. I’m sure I can give birth to a beautiful, healthy, and intelligent baby.”

During this time, Damion had been controlling the number of times, and Ivy sometimes wondered if she had lost her attraction to Damion. Otherwise, she can’t move him no matter what.

However, Damion was a person who, once he had made up his mind, will always follow his own plan.

Now that the results were out, he was also becoming a little impatient.

So when Ivy suggested going home, Damion didn’t hesitate and drove her home right away.

Ivy noticed it, and Damion was excited.

She could feel that his movements were more intense than before, which made Ivy’s heart a little more comfortable.

Anyway, there was an attraction to Damion for her.

After a whole afternoon of struggling, Ivy finally realized that the recent restraint had resulted in her feeling as exhausted as a dead fish now.

However, Damion still held onto her and had no intention of leaving.

Ivy arched her body, wanting to get Damion out.

Unexpectedly, Damion said next to Ivy’s ear, “I asked the doctor, this position is easier to have a baby.”

The two of them were entwined in a harmonious embrace, with Damion holding Ivy tightly. Ivy couldn’t see Damion’s expression and turned her head to ask, “Damion, do you blame me for anything?”

“No,” Damion replied. “I’m happy that you have your own goals and things you want to do. I don’t need your world to revolve around me; that wouldn’t be fair to you.”

“But sometimes I feel selfish,” Ivy said.

“Don’t think like that,” Damion reassured her. “These things happen naturally, and we weren’t prepared before. But it’s not like we were completely avoiding contraception either. Those methods aren’t foolproof. The fact that you’re not pregnant means everything is meant to be this way, and we should start preparing for our baby now.”

Ivy listened to Damion’s words, but deep down inside she was still very sad.

What Damion said was to make all of this rationalize.

However, for Ivy, the past few years had been Damion accommodating her, and this was a fact that no one can change.

Ivy also knew that what she was saying now was actually being sentimental.

In the past few years, she had thought about this issue, but she never actively brought it up to Damion. She knew her own psychology better than anyone else.

The current feeling of guilt was essentially a case of hindsight bias.

Ivy wanted to turn around and see Damion’s face, but unfortunately he was still there and she couldn’t move at all.

Twirling a few times, Ivy tried to find a position that would allow her to see Damion’s face clearly.

However, she was not a flexible person and cannot twist into various angles like a dancer.

Damion’s voice also changed. He kissed Ivy on the shoulder and said, “Are you tired?”

Ivy was actually very tired, but after hesitating for a moment, she still said, “I want to watch you.”

Damion helped Ivy change direction, and Ivy finally got rid of the twisted posture from before. Now she looked very comfortable. Ivy said, “I wonder if it’s still possible to learn how to dance now?”

Damion said, “I can help you.”

Upon seeing Damion’s face again, Ivy’s eyes were filled with longing.

She really loved this man.
