“I’d like to see you try.”

“Oh, you don’t have to worry about that.”

Before Taliana knew what was happening, Sebastian had her on her back, wrists pinned above her head with one hand. She couldn’t even squeak in protest before he mercilessly began tickling her.

“Tell me!” he shouted over her peals of laughter.

Taliana nearly screamed as his fingers drifted up and down her sides, trying in vain to get him to stop. It didn’t take her long to realize that wouldn’t be happening anytime soon. After gasping for air through her giggles, Taliana managed to get out a breathy, “Never!”

“I won’t stop until you tell me.”

Taliana practically shrieked with laughter when his fingers danced over an extra ticklish spot. She was mere seconds from spilling her guts just to get him to stop, but before she could, his bedroom door swung open.

Sebastian and Taliana looked toward the door and froze at the sight of a shocked Jude standing there.

“Well, isn’t this quite the sight,” he said, eyes wide as he took in their positions. “Am I interrupting something?”

Taliana could only imagine how this looked. Sebastian on top of her, his hands resting on her hips, her shirt high enough to expose her bra…

“It’s not what you think, Jude,” Taliana blurted as she thrust her hands to Sebastian’s chest, pushing him off her.

The action caught him by surprise, and since they were already dangerously close to the edge of the bed, he toppled off and landed with a satisfying thump on the ground. Taliana pulled down her shirt as he groaned from his place on the floor.

“Thanks a lot,” he grumbled.

Taliana peeked over the side of the bed to make sure she hadn’t done any serious damage and flashed a lopsided grin when she saw he was okay. “My bad.”

Jude cleared his throat, causing Taliana to turn her attention back to him. “Were you two about to go at it or something?”

“No!” Once again, Taliana’s answer was too abrupt to be believable.

“I’ll take that as a? definite yes then.”

“Seriously, we weren’t doing anything,” she tried to convince him. She glanced down at Sebastian for backup. “Right?”

“Well,? actually

-“

Taliana grabbed the book on his nightstand and threatened to chuck it at him.

“Okay, okay! I was just kidding!”

“It certainly didn’t look like nothing,” Jude said in a sing-song voice.

Taliana rolled her eyes and let out a loud groan. “All he was doing was tickling me, Jude. And it was only to get information. An interrogation tactic.” She threw her hands up. “Big deal! We weren’t doing what you were thinking.”

“But if I hadn’t walked in, would you have?”

“No.”

The look in his eyes told Taliana he didn’t believe her.

Finally, Sebastian sat up, peeking over the edge of the bed. “What are you doing in here, Jude?”

Jude held up the garment bag in his hands and looked at Taliana. “I figured I needed to bring this one something to wear.” He unzipped the bag, pulling out a dark-purple dress and holding it up so he could admire it before shoving it Taliana’s direction. “Go put it on.”

With that command, she grabbed the dress and stalked into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her. Jude’s choice wasn’t horrible, and it actually looked a little more Taliana’s taste than the others she’d worn in the past few weeks, so she swallowed her pride and put it on. Now all she had to do was show it off to Jude.

Opening the bathroom door, Taliana strolled back into Sebastian’s bedroom, but his cousin was nowhere to be found.

“Where’d Jude go?” she asked Sebastian, who was once again sprawled across the bed.

“He went to help Lacey pick out something to wear.” He took a moment to slowly look Taliana over before dragging his gaze back to hers. “Not half bad, Stick Girl.” A smirk quirked up one side of his mouth. “Now, are you ready to tell me what you were thinking about earlier?”

Trust him to bring it up again. “Like I’m really going to tell you,” Taliana scoffed, rolling her eyes in dismay.

“It must’ve been pretty dirty if you’re refusing to tell me.”

Taliana glared. “Would you just drop it?”

“Not until you tell me.”

“Seriously, just forget about it!”

“Not gonna happen.”

By then, she’d had enough. “I’m leaving,” she groaned, shaking her head as she stalked out of his room.

“Oh, come on!” he called, jumping up from the bed and following her. “Just tell me.”

“I hate you.”

“No, you don’t,” he said, edging closer to where she was standing in the middle of the hallway.

“You’re right, I don’t,” Taliana muttered, hitching her chin up. “I just dislike you? immensely .”
