Chapter 69 – The Alpha King’s Intoxicating Mate (Leah & Kace) Novel Free Online

I stopped, panting, Leah slowly sliding off, the feeling pleasurable and torturous. She patted my head as I tensed my body, the urge to mate her increasing by the second.

“Thank you Kace” she whispered, and then stood back, looking at me expectantly.

I swallowed. If I shifted now, she would know that I was turned on. Leah looked puzzled when I didn’t shift straight away. A crease appeared between her brows and she bit her lip, edging closer to me.

“Kace are you okay?”

No, I wanted to shout, I have the world’s biggest hard-on and my wolf won’t stop sending me naughty images of what we’d like to do to you, long enough for my erection to fizzle out!

I was no better than a randy, horny teenager. I saw pack members eyeing the two of us curiously and knew they were wondering what was going on. I needed to speak to James, I needed to speak to patrol. I needed to shift back. I was the King. But instead, I did something totally unexpected. I turned tail and ran, Leah, yelling from behind me, making my way towards a lake on the outskirts of the pack, propelling my body forward and landing with a splash. I shifted and began to swim towards the edge, climbing out and heaving a sigh of relief. No more hard-on. The ice-cold water had made certain of it. I heard a laugh from behind me and turned to see James looking amused.

“Having some difficulty with something were we?” he asked drily.

“You have no idea” I grumbled, “no bloody idea at all.”

Without another word, I began to stalk back to the pack house, with James chuckling behind me. I felt droplets of water dripping down my body and as I approached Leah she looked relieved. “I thought you might be hurt,” she said, worried “Is anything wrong?”

I tried to walk past without answering but James, who had a death wish, chose to answer her “he had a boner he needed to get rid of.”

I stomped into the pack house, feeling less like a king and more like a fool.

…

Leah POV

I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do, so I followed Kace into his study as he stomped into the pack house, embarrassed by James’s words. James was chuckling, following behind at a leisurely pace and I wondered how he had the nerve and decide that he must be good friends with Kace, to still be alive after the comment he’d made. Kace was seated behind his desk, glowering, and I tentatively walked inside the room, sitting myself on the opposite side. His ears tinged red and I pretended not to notice. The poor guy was already embarrassed enough. I didn’t need to make it worse. James sauntered in and if looks could kill, he would have spontaneously combusted from the look Kace gave him.

“You are lucky I haven’t killed you” Kace snarled.

James looked unfazed. “I’m sure your mate felt like it was a compliment that you were turned on by her.”

I tried not to choke. James was literally provoking the Alpha King and what’s more, he was enjoying himself immensely. Kace stared at his friend, looking as though he would like nothing more than to rip his head off his shoulders and toss it to the wolves. I wondered if coming into the study was such a good idea after all. James just raised an eyebrow and grinned, leaning against the wall and looking mischievous.

“Come on Kace, relax, you look like you have a stick up the ass” he chortled.

I made a strangled sound. Kace looked menacing. James just winked.

“Maybe we could um, discuss the rogues,” I said in desperation.

Kace’s eyes turned to me and they softened. James looked disappointed. Clearly, he was hoping to get more of a rise out of his friend. “Yes, the rogues,” Kace said with a snarl “They managed to enter our territory undetected and that is a huge concern” he snapped as James finally began to look a bit more serious and nodded, looking thoughtful.

“Either they managed to slip past patrol or…”

“We have a traitor in our midst. There should have been no gaps for them to take advantage of.” Kace’s voice was chilling and left no room for negotiations.

James looked a bit skeptical. “Come on Kace, these are good men. You can’t honestly tell me that you think that one of them is a traitor to you? I mean, what would be the motive behind it?”

Kace looked at him as though he was an i***t. “How about in order to get my mate?” he said coldly.

James swallowed hard. Evidently, he hadn’t thought of that. “But these men are loyal to the pack. I’m certain of it” he continued to protest.

Kace glared at him. “I want every man that was meant to be at his post today, investigated thoroughly. That means looking into their financials, relationships, backgrounds, everything” he snapped “Is that clear?”
