Eric must have been understanding the first time Natalie and Lukas hugged, after all, it was a reunion, but for it to happen a second time, especially when Lukas was drunk? Nope, impossible. Not on his watch.
So when Lukas was close to embracing his wife in his presence, Eric simply pulled him back by the collar and Natalie released a sigh of relief. That was close; the boy startled her.
And without a second thought, Eric tossed Lukas over to Rhea who caught him at the last minute with a bit of effort.
“Hey…” Rhea breathed, steadying him.
Lukas lifted his head and saw her only for him to smile so brightly that there were literally stars dancing in his eyes.
Oh boy, that was not good. Rhea recognized a disaster when she saw one.
“You are my love!” Lukas announced and clasped her cheeks with both of his hands while Rhea gave a nervous smile.
“Yes, I am.”
Although Rhea affirmed his claims, she tactically searched around for Victor and when she saw him, pleaded with her eyes for him to save her from his eccentric cousin right now.
“Tell me you love me,” Lukas demanded.
Rhea had no choice but to obey. She said, “I love you, Lukas.”
“Shout it at the top of your voice!”
“I love you, Lukas!”
“Shout it as if your life depends on it!”
“I love you, Lukas!” Rhea shouted it at the top of her lungs and had to catch her breath.
“That’s enough!” Victor grabbed him from behind this time and made sure his grip was strong enough that Lukas was not able to break through it easily.
“No!” Lukas screamed anxiously. What was going on? They were about to separate him from his love, Rhea, he couldn’t let that happen!
He was overdramatic.
Just how much of that wine did he take? Rhea was sure Lukas would be embarrassed to death when he woke up tomorrow morning
A Drunk Lukas
“Are you sure that you can handle him?” Even Natalie was concerned when she saw Lukas had become aggressive especially when Victor tried to separate him from her daughter.
She suggested, “Perhaps we can have one of our people assist you.”
“No, thank you for your concern but I can -“
Lukas bumped his head into his on purpose to break away from his grip and Victor groaned from the pain, cursing out loudly. What on earth had he gotten himself into by deciding to chaperone his cousin today?
As for Lukas, he ran over to Rhea’s side, almost startling her in the process yet she didn’t do anything. She stood as still as a stone as Lukas wrapped his arms around her waist and clung to her side like a little child who was scared of being away from his mother.
“Don’t leave me. Don’t let them take me, Rhea. I don’t want to leave you,” Lukas said, holding on to her tighter, leaving her dumbfounded, as well as shocking everyone else around her with his childish attitude.
Watching Lukas’s drunken drama aggravated Victor and he decided that he was done with him. If Lukas wished to sleep over at the Draven’s residence and risk having one of them slit his throat in the middle of his sleep, then so be it. He was done with him – even though he knew deep down that he couldn’t let him be.
Looking at Lukas who refused to let go of her waist, Rhea thought it over and decided, “I think I should go with him,”
“Huh?”
…..
“What?”
Everyone was stunned by her decision, most especially her mother, who then narrowed her gaze at her.
Seeing her mother’s suspicious look, Rhea quickly explained, “It seems that I’m the only one that can calm him down enough for Victor to safely get him home and then I can return.” She assumed.
And to prove her point, Lukas murmured, “I don’t want to go without you, Rhea.”
Rhea was right, everyone could see that, but all eyes were on Natalie knowing that she would never approve of it.
“It is late.” Natalie hinted at the possibility of her finding it difficult to return home at this time.
Although Natalie finally approved of Lukas because of her close relationship with his mother, Penelope, and her sacrifice in the past, she still couldn’t fathom the thought of her daughter returning to that place where he held her hostage for months. What if Rhea decides not to return afterward? She was unsure about this.
“Urm…” Rhea said to Eric, “Perhaps one of your men can ride with us and take me back then.”
Natalie’s eyes lit up with the idea, “Good idea -“
“He can bring you back home,” Eric cut his wife off before she could conclude on the matter, gesturing at Victor who pointed at his chest,
“Me?”
He blinked at Eric. How did he get involved in this? However, Victor received the secret signal Eric gave him and responded immediately,
“Of course. I’ll bring her back home.”
Thanks to their carefully constructed plan, Natalie wasn’t outnumbered and she couldn’t go against it.
“Fine then.” Her mother had no choice but to give in. Moreover, she already promised to give Natalie a chance and this was the time to prove it.
“Thank you!” Rhea was relieved and then said to Lukas, “Alright, come on, we need to go.” She tried to make him stand upright but he was too heavy for her and Victor had to come to her aid. This time, Lukas did not push him away since he had Rhea by his side and his attention was on her the entire time as they walked over to their car and pushed him in.
“Rhea… where are….?” Lukas groaned, reaching for her as soon as he was seated inside the car and Rhea hurriedly climbed in after him.
“I am here.” She answered.
Lukas at once hugged her waist once again before laying his head down on her lap. He buried his face in her stomach, greedy to make contact with her while a contented smile curved the corners of his mouth. Lukas sniffed in her scent before muttering gibberish Rhea didn’t even bother to interpret.
She simply dug her hand into his silky hair and began to massage his scalp making Lukas release a moan. He then snuggled closer into her and Rhea giggled at the action.
