Chapter 51 – The Lingering Kiss of Farewell Novel

Which not only meant that he had stalked and attacked an innocent woman, who’d never once approached him with ill intent, but she’d in no way even recognised him, and she had told the truth of the matter about not knowing who he was. Calvin’s utter insistence that he was right, and couldn’t possibly be wrong, had led to Marilyn coming to actual harm, and at the man’s own hands.

Calvin’s obsession had gotten the better of him, and if Marilyn never came around or died from this very accident. Wil was not going to be able to get him out of it. Calvin would also have just orphaned two children, because she herself was an orphan and he could see there was no wedding ring on her hand. He’d also read Marilyn was a single mother of two, it was in her bio, something he was certain Calvin himself would have read by now.

He walked Calvin away up the stairs and out into the hallway. This is bad Calvin, if she dies, you’re going to jail and from all the press leading up to this, Downgrading it to grievous bodily harm causing death, because

I know you’re it was an accident.”

Wil shook his head.

“No one is going to believe that; The press out th here for mediation with Marilyn and Lisa. Her lawyer is going to state it’s manslaughter. If you’re lucky, that is. He could go for murder because you have a clear motive.”

“There is no motive, what are you talking about?”

Calvin frowned at him.

“All the other women you’ve imprisoned, the way you stalked, harassed and harmed Marilyn on the street in public just yesterday, now this, just the very next day. This is really bad Calvin, you’d better start praying she wakes up.”

“I honestly didn’t mean to harm her Wil. I just wanted proof it was Marrin.”

He sighed.

“Did you get that?”

Wil shot at him a full angry edge to his voice, because he already knew the truth.

“No.”

Calvin scrubbed a hand over his face.

“And that right there is the very problem. You hate women that look like Marrin, so it could be seen that you saw it wasn’t her and got angry, that she was an impostor, and so you shoved her down the stairs because of that very thing. That, I believe, is how her lawyer in going to play this. Because that is how I would play it,”

he muttered, because he knew he would.

“But that’s not what happened”

Calvin repented himself.

“Can you prove that beyond a doubt? A trial by jury would see it as you had a motive and then an opportunity arose, and you stalked her and got her alone, and she just happened to wind up injured, and you’re the only witness”

Will shook his head.

“It’s not good Calvin.”

He repeated himself.

“I also don’t doubt that Mr Stevens is on the phone right now, in earshot of the press, making that call to the police to report the crime of you stalking, harassing, assaulting and causing grievous bodily harm to Marilyn Riddley once more. Only this time she is really injured and in need of hospitalization.”

“What now then?”

Calvin asked.

He thought about that for a minute and then sighed,

“You have to admit you got into an altercation, just state the truth when questioned.”

“Right.”

Calvin muttered.

“Calvin, it’s better that, than having everyone make up rumours and lies about what they think happened.”

Wil pressed his point and he knew those out there were going to.

He could hear the paramedics’ sirens loud and clear now, they must be out the front of the hotel.

“We’re not supposed to leave the scene of the crime, but best we head right to the police station to give your statement. They’ll be calling either you or me in short order, once Mr Stevens has ended his own call.”

He knew they would be too. They were going to be gunning for Calvin as well, two attacks in as many days.

That detective, Pullman, had been doing everything he could to arc up Calvin in the last interview. It was only going to be worse this time around. He also knew they were still in the same police district, so it would be the same detective. That man was going to jump right on this.

“I’ll pre??mpt it, call that detective myself.”

he had the man’s number had gotten it last night, when he’d been trying to get Lisa Steven’s or Marilyn’s number,

Wil fished out that card and called the man himself. It rang all of three times before he picked up.

“Well, Mr Jamison, perfect timing, don’t let that client of yours leave the country now.”

“We’re still here, Detective, and about to be on our way to you. There is no need to send anyone my client has nothing to hide and will be coming in for questioning”

“On your way here? Ah! doesn’t want to be seen handcuffed in public in other words… You a. ie hotel still?”
