She had been third-wheeling the whole night. She couldn’t take it anymore.

Stephanie soon disappeared. Danika was amused. “I don’t even mind. Why does she care so much?’

She felt that even if she had gotten together with Eustace, Stephanie was still her friend. She didn’t think that Stephanie was bothering them at all.

“Do you know how two people can be best friends?” Eustace looked at her.” They put themselves in each other’s shoes and don’t force them to do things that they are uncomfortable with. That’s how their friendship lasts.”

“I know what you mean.” Danika sighed. She understood his reasoning. She just didn’t think there was a need to be so polite.

Eustace opened the door to the car. “Let’s go home.”

“Alright.” Danika nodded and got into the passenger seat.

On the way back, Eustace suddenly said, ‘What Max said is true. When you like someone, you can’t wait to marry them.”

“Are you talking about him? Or yourself?” Danika glanced at him.

Eustace smiled. “I’m just like him. I just want to bind the person I love by my side forever.”

“That’s no use, Mr. Quincey. You have to use your charms to get someone to stay,’ Danika said, smiling.

Eustace laughed. “You’re right, Danika. What, don’t you think I’m charming enough to let you stay?”

“It’s enough.” It was the perfect amount.

Eustace smiled once more. He was in a great mood.

The car quickly reached the villa. Since the night was still young, Eustace went to his study to settle some business affairs. Danika read a book in the meantime.

At first, she’d wanted to head to her bedroom, but Eustace wanted her to stay with him, so she agreed.

She could hear the tapping sounds from his keyboard. She looked at him, watching his long, slender fingers typing rhythmically on the keys. He looked handsome under the warm light.

She trailed her gaze up toward his chiseled face. Paired with his serious expression, he was an attractive sight.

Do I Get A Choice

She no longer turned the pages of the book she was reading. She merely stared at him as if she just couldn’t get enough of him.

Her gaze was scorching. Even Eustace, who was preoccupied with work, could feel it. However, he said nothing and pretended not to notice. He kept on working, albeit a little distracted.

While preoccupied, Danika had gone up to his desk. She knocked on his table. “You’re daydreaming.”

Eustace looked at her. Right now, Danika looked mesmerizing. “Your gaze was distracting me.”

“Are you done with work?” she asked.

“I’m fine,” he replied.

Danika smiled. “Fine?”

“Well, if you’re planning on doing something afterward, I’m done with work. But if you’re not planning on doing anything, I’ll just keep on working.” Eustace’s words were straight to the point. His actions proved to be even more so.

Instantly, Danika was pulled into his arms. “Which one are you choosing?” he asked.

She leaned against his solid chest, hearing his heartbeat. She blushed. “Do

I have a choice?”

She was already in his arms. He was merely teasing her with the illusion of choice.

Eustace kissed her lips fiercely and passionately. Danika responded in kind. She was picturing this while staring at him from the couch earlier.

Their kiss grew deeper, and soon, they began losing their clothes. Everything else that happened afterward was on natural instinct.

Danika fell asleep on the plane. When she woke up, the plane was already beginning its descent.

“Are you awake?” Eustace closed shut the document in his hands. “We’re about to touch down.”

“Didn’t you sleep?”

Eustace leaned in toward her and said softly, “I wasn’t tired.”

Danika rolled her eyes and scolded him for being a pervert. He didn’t mind.” Why should I be all proper around you?”

“I can’t be bothered with you.” Danika placed her attention elsewhere. For whatever reason, her ears had turned red.

Eustace didn’t tease her anymore. He turned solemn. “Once we’ve seen my grandfather, I’ll take you to Orchid Village.”

Their trips back home would only grow less frequent. Eustace wanted to take Danika to her hometown.

Danika was stunned. She hadn’t even considered it. “Okay.”

The people she knew in Orchid Village had basically all gone, but she still wanted to go there. She’d be able to pay her respects to her grandfather, too.

“Is Grandpa really not planning to stay with us in Bardoff City?” Danika was worried. Old Mr. Quincey wasn’t in good condition.

Eustace sighed. “I’ve tried talking some sense into him, but he isn’t willing to move.” Eustace could actually understand him somewhat. After all, Old Mr. Quincey had lived his entire life in Parrington. That was his home. It was only natural that he wouldn’t want to leave.

Besides, he was growing weaker. Perhaps he was afraid of dying in a city that did not raise him.

You Have Not Disappointed Me

“But you needn’t worry. Warren is looking after him. Normally, nothing really happens.” Eustace didn’t know who he was comforting—Danika or himself.

Danika didn’t talk about it anymore. She was thinking of coming there often to see him so that they would have no regrets in the future.

She couldn’t help thinking of her own grandfather. Although he wasn’t really her biological grandfather, Danika still cared for him a lot. She was grateful that when he died, she was by his side. 1

The plane landed, and they walked out of the airport. They sat in the car that Warren had prepared forthem.

“Mr. Eustace. Miss Danika.” Warren was in a good mood seeing them both.

When he saw Danika, he felt conflicted. Back then, he drove Danika to City Hall to get her divorce agreement. He used to think she and Eustace were not fated to be together. Who would have thought that their fate was already written in the stars?

Eustace didn’t know what he was thinking. He asked, “How is my grandfather? Is he alright?”

“He’s in a pretty stable condition. He seems to be pretty happy, in fact. It might be because of you getting together,” Warren replied.

“Alright. And what did the doctors say?” Eustace asked.

Warren grew somber. “The doctor says that this is the result of him overworking since an early age. He can only rest. As for how long he has to live…that’s an unknown factor.”

Old Mr. Quincey didn’t have any serious illnesses. He was simply old. On top of that, he worried too much in his earlier years. Right now, the effects of that were showing up on his body.

“Thank you for your hard work.” Eustace was grateful to Warren. If it weren’t for his care, Eustace would not have gone to Bardoff City with such ease of mind.

Warren smiled. “You’re being too polite, Mr. Eustace. I’ve been following him for years now. If you don’t mind me saying it, Mr. Quincey is like a brother to me.”

He had watched Eustace grow over the years as well. He was no longer like a butler to them but a relative.

Eustace said nothing else. Some things had to be kept in his heart.

They headed toward the Old Mansion. After Eustace left, Old Mr. Quincey sent away many of his servants, leaving only a few to serve him. It looked desolate now.

“Mr. Quincey said there was no point in having so many people around, so he told me to fire a few of them. These people are enough to keep the house up and running,” Warren explained when he saw Eustace frown.

Eustace nodded and said nothing. It was his grandfather’s decision, after all. He didn’t object to it; he was just worried.

They went into the living room. Old Mr. Quincey was sitting in a wheelchair. Because of his weak condition, it was very hard for him to stand.

“Grandpa,” Eustace and Danika both said, walking toward him.

At the sound of their voices, Old Mr. Quincey’s closed eyes opened. However, his gaze was not as piercing as before. “You’re here, Eustace and Danika.

Come, sit.”

They sat on either side of him. “I brought Danika here to see you, Grandpa.”

Deciding to come to Parrington was Danika’s idea. She said they had to tell Old Mr. Quincey they were together. He would be ecstatic. Eustace, of course, agreed, and they booked a flight to Parrington in the morning.

“Good. Very good.” Old Mr. Quincey nodded and held both of their hands.” You have not disappointed me, Eustace.”

He truly wished for Eustace and Danika to be with each other. He was even worried that Eustace would lose her. It seemed that he had underestimated his grandson.

I Owe You an Apology

Eustace smiled softly and looked at Danika. “Grandpa, I only want Danika as my wife. Of course, I won’t let go of her.”

“Haha!” Old Mr. Quincey laughed heartily. “See, you’re creating trouble for yourself! Had you listened to me, things wouldn’t have ended up this complicated!”

Eustace had only succeeded in making Danika his girlfriend after the winding detour, which was still a far cry from her wife status in the past.

Looking embarrassed, he rubbed his nose and said, “This shows that Danika and I are destined to be. No matter how much we’ve gone through, we still end up together.”

Old Mr. Quincey did not reply, as he had decided to close an eye on Eustace’s remark. After all, his grandson would never admit that he had been making dumb decisions in his relationship with Danika.

The three of them chatted for a while before Old Mr. Quincey shooed Eustace into the kitchen. “Go, go! The kitchen needs your help. I need a private chat with Danika.”
