Chapter 500 – When His Wife Can’t Forgive

“I don’t possess any remarkable talents,” Scarlette mused suddenly.

“If I marry you, won’t that invite gossip?”

A roguish smirk played across Kenji’s features.

“Weren’t you the one who swore never to marry me?”

“I’m speaking hypothetically,” she countered.

“You’ll remain exactly who you are after marriage,” Kenji replied sincerely.

“There’s no need to change for my sake.”

Scarlette’s expression turned thoughtful.

“I have just one requirement for marriage.”

“Right, you prefer someone like your ex, frail enough to topple in a breeze and prone to wandering eyes.”

Scarlette shook her head solemnly.

“That’s merely my type, not necessarily my standard for settling down.”

“Then what is your standard?”

“Nothing too strict. My father simply says my husband shouldn’t fall short of his example.”

Kenji was smart. He knew better than to draw that comparison.

As the hurricane intensified outside, their passion mirrored its intensity. The floor-to-ceiling windows bore witness to their intimate dance as Kenji drew Scarlette close.

Their connection had deepened, and with experience came a newfound sensitivity. They moved in perfect harmony, as if reading each other’s thoughts.

The pleasure they discovered together proved intoxicating. True to her nature, Scarlette remained boldly honest about her desires, pursuing what she wanted with characteristic determination.

This directness complemented Kenji perfectly. It satisfied them both, allowing their passion to flourish naturally.

Yet, Scarlette’s youthful enthusiasm sometimes needed tempering. While she welcomed intensity in certain moments, too much proved overwhelming.

Tonight left Scarlette in a state of blissful exhaustion, her body too weary for movement. Kenji’s gentle aftercare included concerned questions about her comfort, though she could only respond with contented sighs.

Seeing her fatigue, Kenji quietly tended to her needs, ensuring her comfort with careful attention.

By the time sleep beckoned, all discomfort had faded, leaving only a pleasant warmth between them.

Kenji found himself lost in admiration of her peaceful form.

Scarlette stirred drowsily, catching his tender gaze, and shyly drew the covers closer.

“What are you doing?”

Kenji simply smiled and tucked the blanket around her.

Scarlette instinctively curled into his embrace, seeking his warmth.

“How did you learn so quickly?” she murmured hoarsely.

“You seemed less experienced last time.”

A chuckle escaped Kenji’s lips.

“It’s in my genes.”

Surprise flickered across Scarlette’s features. Her mind wandered to thoughts of Kenji’s older brother. The two siblings, each striking in their own unique way, left lasting impressions wherever they went.

“Does that mean your brother shares your talents?” she ventured.

The smile slipped from Kenji’s face.

“Curious, are you? I could share his WhatsApp. You’re welcome to ask him yourself.”

“Why would I do that?” Scarlette protested, her face flushing.

“That’s mortifying! You should ask and tell me instead.”

Kenji’s expression suddenly turned cold as he lied, “He’s renowned for his stamina.”

Scarlette’s eyes widened.

“That impressive? How does his wife manage?”

“Am I not exceptional enough?” Kenji challenged.

Though Scarlette privately agreed about his prowess, she reasoned that his older brother must surely surpass him in that regard. Of course, she didn’t dare voice that thought aloud. She knew better than to speak it-Kenji would be relentless in proving her wrong.

Despite her initial hesitation, Scarlette found herself drawn to memories of their passionate encounters. She moistened her lips, playfully prodding Kenji’s arm with her finger.

Misreading her gesture as a request for closeness, Kenji offered his arm as a pillow.

“Professor Reed, I’m still quite sore,” she purred, snuggling close with a mischievous smile.

Catching the yearning in her tone, Kenji’s hand traced a path down her stomach.

“Then perhaps, Miss Ward, I should examine the situation.”.

Scarlette twisted away gracefully, her body language a silent rebellion against Kenji’s advance. Her eyes lingered on his lips, studying them with deliberate intensity. “You’re so skilled at kissing and cursing. I bet you excel at everything else too, don’t you?”

A shadow fell across Kenji’s features. The youth had made him proud, perhaps too proud. “Your flattery won’t sway me to your whim,” he replied, his voice sharp as winter frost.

“But in the videos, everyone seems to enjoy it,” Scarlette countered.

“It’s all an act for the camera.”

“Why don’t you have a try?”

Kenji recoiled internally at the mere suggestion. His forehead creased with disapproval. “If you’re that eager, find someone else.”

“My back is killing me,” Scarlette whimpered, her lips forming a perfect pout. “I can barely move.”

“Do you really want it tonight?”

“Yes. When I want something, my parents never make me wait until morning. I always get what I want, immediately.”

“I’m sleepy,” Kenji declared, shutting his eyes.

But Scarlette wasn’t just bold in thought-she was daring in action. Fighting through her back pain, she mounted him swiftly, positioning herself directly over his face.

Kenji’s eyes flew open too late. Instinctively, his hands shot to her waist, steadying her.

Threading her fingers through his hair, Scarlette’s sweet voice carried a hint of steel. “Push me away, and you’ll live to regret it!”

Though muffled, Kenji’s voice cut like ice. “What good are those eyes of yours? You’re sitting on my nose.”

Scarlette let out a startled gasp. “Oh, sorry.”

Her apology rang sincere, yet she remained unmoved. “Since you excel at everything, you must be fantastic at holding your breath too. That nose of yours seems quite useful-I could put it to good work.”

Kenji was too stifled to speak. Perhaps desire finally overcame reason. After a brief hesitation, he surrendered to her outrageous demand. He found himself exploring with unexpected dedication.

After their Christmas celebration, Kenji needed to return to Banta to rejoin his parents.

Drawn to Banta’s vibrant energy, Scarlette decided to accompany him for a few days.

Before departing, Kenji made a point of visiting the Ward family’s villa, promising Caden and Alicia that he’d guard Scarlette’s wellbeing.

Alicia imagined their relationship was still in its innocent stages, limited to hand-holding. “Knowing Scarlette is in your care puts my mind at ease. When she’s had her fill of adventure, just call us, and her father and I will come to Banta to collect her.”

“Please don’t trouble yourselves,” Kenji assured them. “I’ll personally escort Scarlette home.”

“That works too.”

Throughout Kenji and Scarlette’s entire visit, Caden’s face remained frozen in a stony mask.

Alicia turned to him, concern in her voice. “What’s troubling you?”

“I can’t put my finger on it,” Caden replied, his expression unchanged.

“But the more I look at Kenji, the more he grates on my nerves.”

“Ah!” Alicia’s eyes sparkled with knowing wisdom. “That’s a sure sign they’re destined for each other.”

“What sort of backwards reasoning is that?” Caden shot back. “You’ll see, in time.”

Since Kenji’s departure for Warrington, his family had been dreaming of his return with Scarlette. Seeing them return together filled the Reed family with such joy that they could barely contain their elation. No sooner had Kenji and Scarlette crossed the threshold than Iker appeared with his wife in tow.

Iker’s commanding presence immediately tamed Scarlette’s usual vivacity. She addressed them both with formal politeness, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Cathleen’s gentle smile accompanied her proffered gift.

Iker maintained careful propriety as he responded, “Likewise, Scarlette.”

“Iker, her surname is Ward,” Kenji cut in with calculated casualness.
