Filed to story: That Campus Prince Is a Girl

“Gavin?” Cameron’s face filled with shock. She pointed at the ICU room, then at Gavin. “How are you even here?”

Britney spun around at the sound of his voice and saw him standing there.

Gavin was wearing a hospital gown with one arm in a sling, but he looked okay overall; he was just a bit confused.

“Gavin!” Britney called out. The hollow emptiness in her chest instantly filled with relief when she saw him.

She ran toward him wearing only one slipper, carefully avoiding his injured arm as she threw herself into his embrace.

Gavin wrapped his good arm around her, completely stunned.

Britney was wearing pajamas and missing a shoe. She’d run straight into his arms. Her face was streaked with tears and worry.

‘She actually cares about me,’ Gavin thought. ‘She was really worried.’

Along with the joy flooding through him, guilt immediately crept into Gavin’s heart. She’d been so worried about him, but he’d lied to her-deliberately deceived her.

“Gavin!” Britney’s arms tightened around his waist as she felt his genuine warmth against her, and the tears poured down her face again.

“Britney, I’m okay,” Gavin said softly.

Cameron and Bradley had both rushed over to Gavin’s side.

Cameron’s face lit up with relief. “Gavin! Thank goodness you’re alright. But I got a call saying you were still in the ICU fighting for your life?”

“The hospital mixed up identities,” Gavin explained. “They were treating someone else, not me. I’m fine. I specifically told them not to contact my family because I didn’t want everyone to worry. Did the hospital call you guys?”

Cameron nodded. “Yeah, and they gave me your wallet and phone too.”

“Gavin, what happened to your hand?” Bradley asked.

That was when Britney finally snapped back to reality. She quickly let go of Gavin and grabbed his other arm, tears streaming down her face. “Gavin, your hand-“

“I’m fine. I just need to wear this cast for a few days,” Gavin said.

But Britney still looked at him with worry etched across her face. Even though it turned out to be a false alarm, he was genuinely hurt.

Cameron stepped forward. “Gavin, you’re still injured. You should get back to your room.”

Gavin shook his head. “No need. I’ve been here two days already, and I hate the smell of hospitals. I’m going home.”

“Home?” Cameron frowned. “Gavin, you can’t go back there. Mom and Dad would be heartbroken seeing you hurt. I’ve been keeping this from them.”

“Then where am I supposed to go?” Gavin asked.

Britney bit her lip slightly. “Gavin, what if you came to stay at my place?”

Bradley nodded approvingly. “That works. Ms. Watson can take care of you.”

A faint blush crept across Britney’s cheeks.

Cameron turned to Britney. “Ms. Watson, would that be okay with you?”

Britney nodded. “Yes, I’ll take good care of him.”

“Thank you so much, Ms. Watson. Let me drive you both back,” Cameron offered.

Cameron drove Britney and Gavin to her place. After helping them upstairs, Cameron and Bradley left.

Britney carefully helped Gavin settle onto the sofa.

“Britney, I’m fine,” Gavin said gently.

Her eyes were still red from crying, and the sight tugged at his heart. She knelt before him, reaching to help him remove his shoes.

Gavin caught her hands. “I’m okay. I can do it myself.”

Britney bit her lip slightly, watched as he removed his shoes, and then helped place them neatly in the shoe cabinet.

Gavin’s gaze drifted down to her bare feet. “Britney, where are your slippers?”

She looked down at her own feet, curling her toes in embarrassment. “Probably still at the hospital.”

Gavin’s expression softened with emotion. “You were so worried about me that you ran out without even putting on shoes?”

Britney remained silent, but she didn’t deny it either.

Gavin caught her hand and pulled gently, causing Britney to tumble onto his lap.

She immediately tried to stand, bu

Gavin’s arm wrapped around her waist, holding her in place.

“Gavin?” Britney looked up at him, but when their eyes met, she quickly looked away.

Gavin studied her beautiful face, still flushed from crying. “Britney, tell me the truth. You’re falling for me, aren’t you?”

He hadn’t been confident before. He’d been pursuing Britney for so long, and she’d always kept him at arm’s length.

But just now at the hospital, she’d thrown herself straight into his arms.

That had to mean something. Gavin was sure she had feelings for him.

“I-” Britney couldn’t meet his eyes and didn’t know how to answer.

Gavin’s arm tightened slightly around her waist. His gaze dropped to her lips, so close to his own. Slowly, he leaned down and kissed her.

Britney’s eyes went wide with shock.

Gavin had already closed his eyes, kissing her with gentle, questioning tenderness.

Britney didn’t push him away. She didn’t want to.

Gavin was right-she had fallen for him. Even though she didn’t want to admit it, the truth was undeniable.

Gavin’s kiss grew more intense and demanding. His hand slipped under her shirt, fingertips grazing her bare skin. The contact sent a jolt through her, and she quickly grabbed his wrist.

“Gavin, you’re still hurt.” Her face flushed crimson as she scrambled off his lap and bolted into her bedroom, slamming the door behind her.

I Her heart hammered against her ribs like a caged bird. She thought, ‘Am I accepting him? I don’t know. God, I have no idea!’

But she couldn’t deny the truth-she didn’t mind his touch. In fact, she craved it.

Gavin glanced down at his bandaged hand, a satisfied smile playing at his lips.

He’d won completely.

After she spent a few minutes in her room calming down, Britney finally opened the door and stepped out.

She had to take care of Gavin.

Gavin was still sitting on the couch. When he saw her, he looked at her gently.

Britney felt a little embarrassed under his gaze.

“Gavin, have you had dinner?” she asked.

Gavin nodded. “Yes, I have.”

“It’s getting late. I’ll go downstairs and buy you some toiletries,” Britney said.

“No need. Everything’s already in the guest room,” Gavin replied.

Wesley had already taken care of it for him.

“Really?” Britney blinked in surprise. “Let me go and check.”

She indeed found a complete set of men’s toiletries in the secondary bedroom, and even sleepwear, shirts, and suits in the wardrobe.

She’d been living here for three months, but had never even set foot in the guest room, so she had no idea.

Britney helped Gavin into the guest room. “Will you be alright by yourself?” she asked.

Gavin lifted his good arm. “Yes.”

Britney smiled, “Alright. Just let me know if you need anything.”

The guest room also had its own bathroom.
