Bradley said nothing

Cameron laughed softly, “Gavin, I can tell the difference between gratitude and love.”

“What do you love about him?” Gavin pressed.

“Everything about him,” Cameron replied with a smile.

Gavin fell silent.

Bradley’s face lit up with a brilliant smile, though he tried to tone down his obvious satisfaction. After all, Gavin was clearly struggling right now,

Gavin lifted his wine glass and drained it in one gulp.

“Gavin, stop drinking.” Cameron reached over and took the glass from his hands.

Gavin let out a sigh. “Cam, what do you think I should do to win Britney over?”

Cameron thought for a moment. “Maybe you need to be more patient. If Britney isn’t ready to accept you right now, just wait it out. Try staying by her side quietly.”

Gavin nodded. He didn’t have any better ideas anyway.

Britney figured Gavin had stormed off in anger last night and wouldn’t show his face for a while.

But the moment she got to her desk, a coworker walked over with a bouquet of tulips. “Ms. Watson, your boyfriend sent these again. He sends you flowers every single day, and they’re always different. He’s so thoughtful. I’m honestly jealous.”

Britney held the flowers, breathing in their fragrance. Her feelings were all over the place.

While Britney held the flowers, lost in thought, a receptionist rushed back into her office. “Ms. Watson, your ex-boyfriend is here.”

Soren and Britney had been together for two years. He used to pick her up and drop her off at work regularly, so all the front desk staff knew him.

Britney’s brow furrowed instantly. “Tell him to leave.”

The receptionist hesitated. “But he said he won’t go until he sees you.”

Britney set down the flowers, her frown deepening as she stood and left her office.

Soren stood at the front desk, chatting cheerfully with the staff. This was peak checkout time, and he was disrupting the front desk operations.

Britney’s face darkened. “Soren, please leave.”

Seeing her cold expression the moment she appeared, Soren’s face hardened too. “Britney, is this how you treat customers?”

“What kind of customer are you?” Britney shot back.

Soren immediately pulled out his ID. “Give me a room.”

“Are you sure about that?”

This was a five-star hotel. Even the cheapest rooms cost six hundred dollars a night. Soren worked at an e-commerce company, making only three thousand dollars a month. With his mortgage and car payments, he couldn’t afford to stay here.

Britney’s expression was so obvious it stung Soren’s pride. “What, you think I can’t afford to stay here?”

A monthly income of three thousand dollars made Soren successful for regular people. But they weren’t in the same league as Gavin with his Rolls-

Royce.

Soren thought, ‘Britney’s salary was barely over three thousand dollars, too. What right did she have to look down on me?’

The more Soren thought about it, the angrier he got. He sneered, “Britney, you think that rich guy is serious about you? He’s just messing around with you. Don’t flatter yourself thinking you’re something special. Look at yourself-you’re nothing but a gold digger!”

“Hey, that’s way out of line!” The receptionist couldn’t stand it anymore and jumped to Britney’s defense. “You’re the one who cheated first. How can you talk about Ms. Watson like that? You have no shame!”

Soren’s eyes flared. “I’m filing a complaint! I want to see your general manager!”

It was peak checkout time and the lobby was packed with guests. Soren’s outburst disturbed everyone.

The hotel general manager, Chris West, happened to be doing his rounds in the hotel lobby. When he heard the commotion, going on here?” Chris asked.

Soren immediately turned the tables on him. “Chris, perfect timing. Is this how you train your staff? What kind of service is this?”

Chris recognized Soren right away. “Mr. Brown, let’s talk this through calmly.” ied over. “What’s

“Talk it through? I come to your hotel as a paying customer, and this is the attitude I get from your staff?” Soren turned to the other guests watching the scene unfold. “The service here is terrible! Nobody should stay at this place!”

Chris frowned and looked at Britney. “Apologize to the guest. Now.”

He’d heard about the bad blood between Britney and Soren, but right now Soren was a customer. Britney had to apologize.

Britney’s eyes widened slightly. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“Ms. Watson,” Chris said, “have you forgotten our core principle that the customer is always right? Apologize to Mr. Brown immediately

Britney bit her lip. “I’m sorry, Mr. Brown. My attitude was inappropriate.”

Soren snorted, “With an attitude like that, you call yourself a manager? You should be fired.”

Britney’s hands clenched into fists.

Chris forced a smile. “My apologies, Mr. Brown. This was a failure in our service. I’ll have someone send you a complimentary dinner voucher later.

Chris wasn’t giving in to Soren-he was thinking about all the other guests watching. His response mattered for the hotel’s reputation.

Which meant Britney had to swallow her pride.

Chris spent considerable effort calming Soren down before the situation could disturb other guests.

Ultimately, he offered a dinner voucher for the restaurant and a complimentary night in one of the hotel’s luxury suites.

Soren strutted off with the room key, looking pleased with himself.

Chris called Britney into his office.

Britney’s expression was tight with frustration. She understood Chris had handled things correctly, but having to apologize to Soren left a bitter taste in her mouth.

Chris kept his tone stern. “Ms. Watson, keep your personal issues from affecting your work.”

“I’m sorry.” Britney kept her head down.

Chris waved his hand dismissively, making his point clear. Someone as sharp as Britney knew precisely what he meant.

After Chris left, Britney sank into her chair and stared at the tulips on her desk, her brow still furrowed with tension.

When she thought she could catch her breath, the front desk called. The receptionist’s voice carried both difficulty and sympathy. “Ms. Watson, Soren demands you deliver a phone charger to his room. He says if you don’t come yourself, he’ll file another complaint.”

Britney made her way to the front desk.

One employee immediately grabbed her arm. “Ms. Watson, don’t go up there. Who knows what that scumbag is planning? It’s too dangerous-just let him complain!”

“Ms. Watson, why don’t you just take the day off? Otherwise Soren will definitely find ways to mess with you. He’s a guest now, so there’s nothing you can do about it,” another employee suggested.

Britney thought it over and decided to follow their advice. She called in sick and went home.

When Britney left, Soren’s call returned to the front desk. “What kind of service is this? Where’s my charger? Where’s Britney?”

The receptionist swallowed her disgust and replied politely, “I’m sorry, Mr. Brown. Your charger will be sent up shortly. Ms. Watson isn’t feeling well today -she called in sick. Another colleague will bring your charger up.”/

“Not feeling well?” Soren sneered, “Is she actually sick, or is she just avoiding me? Let’s see how long she can hide!”

Soren hung up abruptly.

The receptionist rolled her eyes. “What a piece of work-cheats on her and still has the nerve to keep harassing her.’

At six in the evening, the black Rolls-Royce parked on the street outside the staff entrance, just like always. By seven o’clock, Britney still hadn’t come out.

“Mr. Yates, should I go check the hotel?” the driver asked, facing Gavin.

Gavin kept his eyes on the reports in his hands./”Wait a little longer.” He thought Britney was busy today.

A few minutes later, someone knocked on Rolls-Royce’s rear window. Gavin rolled it down.

“Wow, you’re hot!” The young woman who’d knocked caught sight of Gavin’s face and blushed crimson. que, Ty Aug

Gavin frowned and started to roll the window back up. “Wait!” the girl called out quickly. “Are you waiting for Ms. Watson?”

Gavin said nothing.

The driver answered instead. “Yes, miss. Is there something you need?”
