Filed to story: When His Wife Can’t Forgive

“You two have been together this long, yet I’ve never seen you act like a couple. What’s the point of your relationship?” Cliff exposed.

Laney was annoyed.

“Who says we don’t?”

“What exactly have you done?” Cliff countered, wrapping a dry towel around her hair with a piercing look.

“He can reserve thirty different rooms in a month, each with a different woman, and none with you. What sort of relationship is that?”

Laney was startled.

“How do you know all that?”

“I’ve been monitoring his every move,” Cliff said with a smirk.

“And yours too.”

Laney’s eyes widened in shock.

“What right do you have to spy on me?”

Cliff responded calmly, “Because I’m your cousin. You said we’re family and not to be involved romantically, so I’m just acting in my role as family. Is that an issue?”

Laney felt a surge of anger but was quickly overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness. She knew all too well how much Cliff liked to be in control.

Cliff turned her toward him and began drying her hair with a hairdryer. Laney pushed him away, momentarily forgetting she was only wrapped in a towel, which then slipped off. She gasped in shock, swiftly grabbing it to cover herself again.

However, Cliff had unintentionally seen more than he was meant to. That brief moment was now engraved in his memory. It had been ages since he had last seen or touched her, yet the recollection of her soft skin remained clear.

A quiet, intense longing flowed within Cliff, leaving Laney feeling exposed.

Laney attempted to move away but was unable to.

Cliff held back his impulses, choosing instead to focus on drying her hair.

Just then, Merrick’s voice echoed from outside.

“Laney, are you ready?”

Laney took the chance, swiftly replying, “Yes.”

“Then, why aren’t you out here yet?” Merrick asked as he came to open the door.

Cliff’s expression turned grim as he quickly locked the door.

Merrick tried the handle, but it wouldn’t open.

“Laney?”

Cliff pressed Laney against the mirror, his voice low.

“You’re not even dressed, and you’re inviting him in?”

The hairdryer hummed loudly, yet Cliff’s voice cut through it with sharp intensity.

Unable to withstand his piercing gaze, Laney snapped, “I can do whatever I want, Cliff. Let me go.”

His eyes narrowed, his tone shifting.

“He hasn’t touched you, has he, Laney?”

She remained silent.

From the other side of the door, Merrick’s voice came again.

“Why aren’t you responding, Laney? My mom’s waiting.”

Cliff suddenly lifted her onto the counter, his hands forcing her legs apart.

Shocked, Laney glared at him angrily.

“What are you doing?”

His voice took on a threatening edge.

“Has he touched you or not?”

Furious, Laney taunted him with the words he dreaded.

“Yes! He’s touched me, kissed me, and we’ve even slept together. So what?”

Cliff’s hand froze on her inner thigh, his expression darkening in an instant.

“Touched?”

A sharp pain stabbed at his ribs, spreading to his chest, roughening his voice.

“Where did he touch you?”

His long fingers rose, tracing the curve of her swan-like neck.

“Did he touch you like this?”

The roughness of his fingers sent a shiver through her.

Laney’s cheeks flushed as she protested.

“Cliff, you shouldn’t touch me.”

Ignoring her furious gaze, his hand moved lower, pulling her towel along with it.

She tried to hold on, but he swiftly grabbed her wrists and pinned them behind her.

From outside, Merrick called again.

“Laney.”

Irritated, Cliff snapped, “Stop knocking and go away!”

A moment of silence followed.

Cliff moved closer, pressing his lips against hers.

The kiss was rough, fueled by anger, nothing gentle about it. Overwhelmed, Laney felt tears welling in her eyes.

Sensing them, Cliff pulled back.

“It’s been so long since our last kiss that you’ve forgotten how to respond. Didn’t Merrick show you how?”

A lump formed in her throat, her fury boiling over..

“Let me go!”

Cliff remained firm, his voice low but insistent.

“Tell me the truth. Am I the only one who’s ever touched you?”

Laney had never seen him like this before. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and she remained silent.

Cliff’s patience snapped. He ripped the towel from her and tossed it to the floor.

Her heart pounded in terror, a dreadful thought creeping into her mind-was he really going to force himself on her? His movements were fierce, his lips and teeth relentless. He devoured her in rough kisses before biting down hard, drawing a sharp cry of pain from her. Her stubborn resistance clashed against his unyielding force, but eventually, she broke, collapsing into helpless sobs.

Only after she had soaked his shirt with her tears did he finally stop.

“Do you have an answer for me now? Tell me,” he demanded.

The fresh bite marks on her skin throbbed as she continued to cry softly.

Cliff’s hand slid down her slender waist, his voice dark and threatening.

“Laney.”

Overwhelmed, she couldn’t bear it any longer. Her voice trembled as she cried out, “Yes, it’s only been you.”

Cliff felt a grim sense of satisfaction. These were the words he had been waiting for. Whether they were true or not, he chose to believe them.

Her body had gone weak, and without another word, he lifted her effortlessly and carried her into the dressing room. Setting her down gently, he retrieved a warm towel and carefully dried her body, his focus lingering on her legs. Every inch of her was drenched.

Kneeling before her, he watched as she curled up, her expression filled with fury.

“I don’t want this.”

Cliff remained unfazed.

“I caused this, so it’s my responsibility to fix it. Spread your legs a bit.”

Laney finally realized that when Cliff was serious, there was no changing his mind. All the warmth and tenderness he had shown earlier had been nothing more than an act. He was neither a good person nor a gentleman.

When he lost his temper, he became completely unreasonable.

After helping her dress, Cliff looked at her sincerely.
