Eric blew a strand of hair off his forehead. “Cam, if you keep complimenting me like that, Brad’s gonna get jealous. Don’t let his calm, gentlemanly act fools you – he’s actually got a real scheming side.”
Cameron said, “I agree with the second part.”
Eric chuckled.
He studied her face again, his slender fingers resting at her temple as he gently turned her head.
He gathered her shoulder-length hair and put it up into a bun that was both cute and a little sexy.
His gaze fell on her snow-white ear. “I know what’s missing.”
Eric rummaged through the jewelry box and found a pair of heart-shaped diamond earrings, which he carefully put on her.
The earrings swayed gently, making her neck look even longer and more graceful.
Eric snapped his fingers. “Perfect!”
Cameron stared at herself in the mirror, puzzled. “Eric, you’ve made me look like I’m about to walk into some fancy event. Isn’t this a bit much just for hanging out at home?”
Eric smiled, “Why not? Cam, you’re gorgeous – everyone should get to see it. When Brad sees you later, he’s going to be completely smitten.”
Cameron looked at him, then stood up.
Eric went to fetch a rose-red cape for her.
He draped it over her shoulders, the long tassels falling softly around her waist, giving her that extra bit of flair. Eric nodded in approval “With your fair skin, anything in shades of red is a total knockout on you – absolutely gorgeous!”
Cameron couldn’t help but laugh, “Eric you’re making my head spin with all these compliments.”
Eric replied, “I’m just stating the facts.”
He adjusted the cape for her. “No matter how windy it gets outside, you won’t feel cold.”
“By the way, let’s change your shoes,” Erig went to grab a pair of black heels for her.
Her dress was long enough to cover her ankles, so she’d stay warm.
Eric stroked his chin, clearly pleased with his masterpiece. “Seriously, Cam, you should be my model”
Cameron still didn’t say anything.
Cameron and Eric headed downstairs together.
On the couch, they found Camilla and a young, handsome man sitting close together, whispering and laughing.
Hearing their footsteps, Camilla looked up and saw Cameron on the stairs.
Her eyes widened in amazement as she stood up and walked over to them.
She grabbed Cameron’s hand. “Oh my gosh, Cam, you’re drop-dead gorgeous! Eric must have really pulled out all the stops.”
Cameron smiled, “Thank you.”
The young man walked over and nodded slightly. “Hello, I’m Camilla’s husband, Jade Masion.”
Cameron nodded back. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Masion.”
Camilla said with a smile, “Cam, he is your brother-in-law now.”
Cameron was speechless.
Camilla added with a smile, “Cam, Brad’s got a pet in the backyard. Wanna know what it is?”
“A pet?” Cameron asked, intrigued.
Bradley had never mentioned having a pet at home.
“Cam, I’ll take you to see it,” Camilla said, waving the ribbon in her hand. “But I need to blindfold you.”
Cameron raised an eyebrow. “So mysterious?”
Camilla nodded. “Yeah, do you want to go? Brad’s in the backyard right now. I’ll take you there.”
Cameron already had a hunch, but she played along and nodded. “Let’s go!”
Camilla tied the ribbon over Cameron’s eyes.
Eric reminded her, “Camilla, be gentle.”
Camilla laughed, “I know, Eric. I won’t ruin the makeup you worked so hard on.”
Camilla led Cameron to the backyard, and after about ten minutes of walking, they finally stopped.
Even though Cameron couldn’t see, she could feel the change beneath her feet – first cement, then cobblestones, then grass. Suddenly, she stepped onto something incredibly soft. ‘Is this… petals?’ she wondered.
Camilla came to a stop, smiling as she said, “Cam, we’re here.”
She gently removed the blindfold from Cameron’s eyes.
Eric took out a compact he always carried and helped Cameron touch up her makeup.
“Cam, you can open your eyes now,” Eric said.
Cameron slowly opened her eyes, and what she saw took her breath away. The ground was covered in a sea of red and white rose petals.
The entire garden was carpeted with them.
She was standing on a small stage.
Behind her was a large display made entirely of petals.
White roses formed the base, while red roses spelled out the words: [Cameron, will you marry me?]
She had guessed right.
Bradley was planning to propose to her.
‘No wonder, I was just here for a visit, but Bradley made a special trip home,’ she thought.
Cameron smiled gently.
When she looked up, she saw Amelia, Lila, and Sienna standing nearby.
Turning her gaze, she spotted Jacqueline and Levi, Sam, Gavin, Pearl, David, and several key executives from her company.
Cameron had guessed what Bradley was planning, but she hadn’t expected that all her friends and family, even Pearl, would be here.
Pearl let out a soft, happy “awoo…”
As soon as Pearl spotted Cameron, she ran over with excitement, rubbing her fluffy head affectionately against Cameron & knees
Eric quickly stepped back.
“Pearl,” Cameron said, a gentle smile on her lips as she reached down to give Pearl a loving rub on the head.
“Awoo…”
“Cam, you look absolutely stunning!” Amelia walked over, smiling, “Good thing you went undercover as a boy back in high school, or my title as the school’s beauty queen would’ve been in serious danger.”
“Cam, you are just unbelievably gorgeous. And honestly, I never thought Bradley could be this romantic. I was totally surprised when he called me about this,” Lila said.
Sienna chimed in, “Bradley really went all out for this. It’s so sweet that he made sure we could all be here to witness such an important moment.
“Cam…” Jacqueline and Levi walked over as well.
Jacqueline looked at Cameron, unable to hold back her admiration. “You look so beautiful. Are you feeling cold at all?”
She took Cameron’s hand, surprised to find it warmer than her own, even though Cameron was dressed so lightly.
Levi reached out and put an arm around Cameron’s shoulders. “You’re wearing so little,” he said.
Cameron smiled, “Mom, Dad, I’m not cold.”
Gavin was grinning from ear to ear at Cameron, thinking to himself, ‘My sister is really gorgeous.’
But the moment he realized this was Bradley’s carefully planned proposal, his smile instantly vanished.
Lance crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, a proud look on his face. “Cameron, you’re so gorgeous.”
