Lilly quickly covered her ears.
Pablo didn’t know when to stop. He wanted to impart knowledge to her every chance he got.
Nothing Pablo said made sense to Lilly. It was something about the basics.
Still, covering her ears did nothing to stop Pablo’s nagging.
“Today, I’m going to talk to you about the five practices of spiritualism.
“They are cultivation, medicine, destiny, prophecy, and observation.
“We can include the training of the mind and body, spells, incantations, and battle strategies in cultivation.
“Understanding medicine is not difficult. It includes anything related to medicine, healing, and even witches’ brew.”
Lilly perked up her ears. “Witches? Do I have to recite an incantation or perform a dance to make potions?”
Pablo was at a loss for words. “Where did you hear that?”
Lilly waved her arms in the air. “I don’t want to learn that! People will take me away!”
She had once gone on an outing with her father and stumbled upon a woman who appeared to be mentally unstable. The woman was dancing and praying to the gods for rain.
The woman seemed to be having a seizure and was eventually taken away.
Unable to find the right words, Pablo said, “That kind of behavior attracts unwanted attention, but advanced spells can be cast with just a snap of the fingers…”
“Forget about that. I will show you when the time comes. Next.”
Lilly was puzzled, her face displaying a huge question mark.
Pablo added, “All you need to know is that you can use those powers to heal your grandmother’s illness.”
Lilly immediately sat up straight, eager to learn.
She had been told by her mother to take good care of her grandmother. That’s why she needed to learn the spell and save her!
Lilly was finally on her best behavior.
Pablo smirked. “Now I have your attention.”
“By destiny, I mean numerology, horoscope, and fortune-telling. Prophecy involves interpreting dreams…”
Lilly raised her hand. “Fortune-telling and dream interpretation? I know about that. I was approached by a police officer too.”
It happened during the same outing with her father. A blind man had wanted to read her fortune.
However, the blind man quickly left when the police officer arrived.
She looked conflicted. “Master, can we learn something that won’t get me taken away?”
Pablo was speechless.
Where had Stephen taken her? The place seemed to be filled with all sorts of people.
“Lilly, where did you and your father go?”
Lilly tilted her head to one side. “I don’t know. Daddy said he was going to buy cigarettes. He told me to stay put and wait for him.
“I waited and waited, but he never came back. It got dark, and the police officer had to take me home in the end.”
Pablo was at a loss for words.
He wiped off the nonchalant expression on his face.
“Oh, I understand now. Stephen didn’t take her out for an outing.
“He was trying to abandon her somewhere.”
Pablo smirked and asked, “Did you really wait there the whole time?”
Lilly nodded. “Yeah.”
She obediently stood on the brick floor without wandering off.
However, Daddy had ultimately forgotten about her…
With the smile on her face fading, Lilly softly asked, “Daddy was trying to get rid of me, right?”
She knew the moment Daddy walked away without looking back that she had been abandoned.
Daddy no longer wanted her.
She stood there for a long time, surrounded by people, but with no idea where to go.
Pablo had no words.
Heh… She’s naive.
“Next time, just write the person out of your life if they don’t want you. Tulip, remember that the people who abandon you don’t deserve forgiveness. He isn’t worth your tears.”
Lilly innocently nodded, and a smile soon lit up her face.
The child’s emotions were like unpredictable weather.
Maybe Lilly was stronger now. She had the love of her uncles and grandparents, so the past hurt and pain no longer mattered.
“Master, please teach me medicine! I know doctors don’t get taken away. They even appear on TV.”
Pablo facepalmed. Did everything in her life involve being taken away?
“On TV?” He casually remarked.
Lilly immediately imitated a TV advertisement she had seen.
“After careful consideration, I have made an unthinkable decision. I plan to reveal the secret of my family…
“I am the descendant of the miracle healer, the great-grandson of a famous doctor. I hold the key to my family’s single secret that can heal and cure everything and anything.
“Here, I have a drug that works wonders for headaches, toothaches, backaches, leg aches, indigestion, stomachaches, loss of appetite, chesty coughs, asthma, kidney failure, and impotence. You name it, I have the drug for it.”
Pablo was speechless, to say the least.
Lilly asked, “Isn’t it awesome? It was on TV. By the way, what’s impotence?”
Speechless, Pablo made something up. “Impotence is when you can’t get up in the morning.”
Lilly had an aha moment.
She understood. The drug must be something extra to help people get up in the morning.
“That’s awesome!” Lilly looked inspired.
Pablo was at a loss for words.
