Bradley and Eddie headed straight for her car.
“Cam,” Bradley greeted her softly.
**
Cameron stepped out of the car, and Bradley reached for her hand, a gentle smile on his lips.
“There you are at last, Cam! Brad’s been waiting out here at the gate for two hours,” Eddie called out with a grin.
Cameron looked at Bradley for confirmation.
Bradley took off his scarf and wrapped it gently around her neck, then pulled her into his arms. “It’s cold in Steerfall today.”
The closer it got to the New Year, the colder it seemed to get.
Cameron smiled, “I’m not cold.”
“Cam, hurry inside! It’s freezing out here. Let’s talk once we’re in,” Bradley’s mom Beth Saunders called out, beaming as she hurried over.
The whole Saunders family was there, crowded around the entrance, making it almost impossible to get through.
They all started calling out greetings to Cam.
Bradley started introducing everyone, “Cam, this is my grandma, my dad, my mom, my eldest brother and his wife, my second brother, my third brother, my fourth brother, my sixth brother, my seventh brother, that’s Evan and his wife… and this is my little sister, Camilla.”
Cameron smiled and greeted each of them in turn.
Together, they all walked into the main hall of the Saunders Manor.
Yesterday, Bradley made a point of coming back a day early so he could personally supervise as the whole Saunders Manor got a top-to-bottom, inside-and-out cleaning and makeover.
Cameron had brought a mountain of gifts, piling them high on the coffee table.
Beth said kindly, her voice full of warmth, “Cam, just having you here is enough. You really didn’t have to bring so many gifts you’re being way too polite.”
This was only the second time Beth had met Cameron.
Though her face was all smiles, deep down Beth couldn’t help but feel guilty.
‘If I hadn’t lost my head and believed Nell’s lies back then, maybe Brad and Cam would already be married by now, she thought to herself.
Thankfully, even after all those years apart, they still ended up together.
Cameron smiled and said, “Mrs. Saunders, it’s just a small token of my appreciation.”
Bradley’s father laughed, “We’re all family now, so there’s no need to be so polite.”
Bradley’s eyes landed on a beautifully wrapped Barbie doll, a smile playing at his lips. “Cam, you even got a gift for Osborne’s kids.”
“Yeah,” Cameron nodded.
Osborne had three children – triplets, two boys and a girl.
They were off at school.
Cameron knew Bradley’s family pretty well by now.
She had prepared gifts for everyone.
Just like when Bradley had visited her family, he’d brought gifts for everyone, even Pearl.
“Thank you, Cam. That was really thoughtful of you,” Sam’s wife said.
Everyone was chatting away, the whole room filled with laughter and a relaxed, friendly vibe.
Quietly, Camilla slipped into the seat next to Cameron and whispered, “Cam, is it okay if I call you that?”
Cameron smiled, “Sure, go ahead.”
Camilla said sincerely, “Cam, Bradley actually managed to win you over and bring you home to the Saunders family.”
Camilla’s admiration came straight from the heart.
–
The very first time she met Cameron, she found herself wondering what kind of man could possibly catch the eye of a girl as perfect as her?
Cameron was the one and only person Camilla truly looked up to in this world.
Because Cameron had accomplished something she herself could never achieve – she’d developed a breakthrough cure for leukemia!
She had only been cured of ALS because she had gone through another world, but Cameron had managed to do what she couldn’t That was truly impressive.
Hearing this, Bradley squeezed Cameron’s fingers and said, “Camilla, you can hold off on the compliments until I’ve really brought Cam home as my wife.”,
Camilla winked and said playfully, “Go for it, Brad! It won’t be long now.”
Bradley raised an eyebrow.
Cameron smiled softly.
There were so many people in the Saunders family, but Cameron was clever-after just one lunch together, she’d already figured out who was who.
After lunch, Beth suggested everyone take a rest and give Cameron and Bradley some privacy.
Bradley led Cameron back to his room.
The decor in Bradley’s room looked just like his place in Viremont- simple and stylish.
A whole wall was covered with trophies and medals.
Cameron stood by the wall and reached out to pick up a trophy at random. “Brad, when did you get this one?”
It was a golden trophy for Outstanding Lawyer.
Bradley wrapped his arms around Cameron from behind, resting his chin on top of her head with a smile. “Just a couple of years ago,” he said.
Cameron said, “Even after losing your memory, your goals in life never changed. That’s actually kind of nice.”
Bradley gently pulled her around to face him, wrapped his arms around her waist, and said with a smile, “Yeah, even if I forgot everything, seeing you again – I’d still fall for you all over again.”
Cameron couldn’t help but laugh, “Wow, Mr. Saunders, your words are quite sweet.”
Bradley lowered his head slightly, a teasing glint in his eyes. “How would you know it’s sweet if you’ve never had a taste?”
“I… mmm-” Cameron barely got a word out.
In the next instant, Bradley’s lips were already on hers.
He’d come home early yesterday, and hadn’t seen Cameron at all that day.
He’d been going crazy missing her.
With his family around, he’d had to hold back.
But now that it was just the two of them, he could finally let himself go.
Bradley came at her with such force that Cameron could barely defend herself.
She stepped back, her spine almost pressing against the hard shelving behind her, when Bradley’s broad hand braced her waist
Cameron had nowhere left to retreat.
“Brad… mmph-” Cameron barely got his name out before he cut her off, swallowing the rest of her words with his kiss.
She had no doubt-Bradley was practically trying to pull her right into himself, like he wanted her to become a part of him.
He was so passionate, so wild completely different from the gentle, polished man he usually showed the world.
When Cameron tried to respond, Bradley only grew more out of control, leaving her frozen in place, not daring to move a muscle.
Knock, knock…
Just then, as Bradley’s lips lingered on Cameron’s beautiful neck, someone started knocking on the door at the worst possible time.
“Brad, someone’s knocking…” Cameron said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Bradley froze for a second, then ignored it and continued.
