“Then go pee,” he says, raising an eyebrow at me, I stand up and walk to the stairs. All the lights are off, and I can’t see the top of the stairs, only shadows. Tobias and Theo watch me, frozen, with one foot on the step, clutching the railing. I hear one of them laugh.
“What’s wrong, Imogen? You’re not scared, are you?” Theo says, trying not to laugh.
“No,” I say defiantly, but my heart rate gives me away. I move up a step and freeze again and look over the railing at them. “Can one of you come with me please?”
Tobias gets up laughing, “I thought you said you weren’t scared.”
“I’m not, it’s just dark up there,” I say, walking up the steps, stopping halfway when I don’t feel him behind me. He’s standing on the bottom step, arms folded, an amused expression on his face.
“Tobias,” I squeak.
“You’re in a house with a vampire and a werewolf and that doesn’t scare you, but a movie does,” he states, walking up the steps behind me.
“Yeah, but you’re not scary,” I state, walking up the steps.
When I reach the landing, Theo jumps out of the shadows. “Boo!” I scream and run before realizing it’s Theo.
“You asshole, you just scared the hell out of me. How did you get past us?” I say, slapping his arm and walking past him into the bathroom, flicking the light on.
“There are stairs at the other end of the house leading up here,” he tells me. I shut the door and quickly pee, I wash my hands and open the door. Both of them lean on the door frame, waiting for me.
“We need to head to bed soon, I have work in the morning,” Tobias states. I yawn, suddenly feeling tired, it must be late. I go to say something but then stop, not wanting a repeat of earlier. I follow them into the room and climb into bed. Tobias takes his shirt off and climbs in next to me.
Theo turns a small lamp on and grabs a book before lying beside me. My eyebrows furrow confused. “You’re not tired?” I ask.
“Vampires don’t sleep, Imogen,” he chuckles.
“But I saw you sleep,” I point out, confused.
“No, we don’t sleep, but we do get stuck in a trance which resembles sleep,” he tells me. Tobias yawns next to me and pulls me against him.
Although I am tired, I still want to know more, so I keep questioning him. “What do you mean?”
“Well, it’s kind of like being stuck in your own thoughts, becoming trapped in a way. You don’t realize time is passing,” he explains.
I would hate to be stuck in my own mind; it’s my biggest critic. I seriously can’t imagine being trapped in it. “How long does it last?”
Theo seems to think for a second before answering. “My longest would be a month before Tobias pulled me out of it.”
“A month?” How lonely must have he felt during that time? I reach out and drape my arm across his lap. It doesn’t take long before I fall asleep.
I’m awoken in what must have been only a few hours by Theo, suddenly climbing back into bed with yet another book. I yawn and wriggle out of Tobias’s grip, moving closer to Theo. I put my head on his lap; his hand playing with my hair. “What are you reading?” I mumble, fighting the urge to yawn again.
“Nothing important, you should go back to sleep.” I shake my head, I always struggle to go back to sleep after waking, and if I do manage to actually go back to sleep, I will feel ten times worse when I get up again.
Instead, I get up and walk over to my phone. I pick it up and the screen lights up, revealing that it’s 4:30 am. I place the phone back down and walk into the bathroom. I quickly pee before stripping the shirt off and turning the shower on and hopping in. I wet my hair, letting the water wake me up completely. Grabbing the soap, I start washing myself, and Theo walks in.
He drops his shorts, opens the shower door and I move over to allow him to join me. Theo turns the other shower head on and faces me, watching as I wash myself. I turn my back on him feeling self-conscious under his gaze.
When I turn around, he is still staring. “Stop staring, pervert.” I mumble but he just smirks.
“I can look, you belong to me.” My heart skips a beat and Theo moves closer, placing his hand on my hip and pulling me flush against him. I let him and continue to wash the shampoo out of my hair as his fingers move up my side, stopping at the side of my breast.
