Victoria completed her onboarding process. As the chief designer, she had her own private office. The company even assigned her an assistant – Diana Ball, a recent addition to the design department.

“Ms. Lewis, I’ve been interning here for three months. Please let me know if you need anything at all.” Diana was cute and petite, with a smile that put people at ease.

“Thank you.” Victoria accepted the office key from Diana. With all the paperwork completed, she only needed to return and start work the next day.

She took the elevator downstairs. The moment she stepped out of the Cosmos Group building, she noticed a discreet black car parked nearby.

Victoria’s eyes fell on the car, and she frowned slightly. There was something familiar about it – the longer she looked, the more certain she felt.

Bruce sat in the passenger seat, waving enthusiastically in her direction.

“Hey, Ms. Lewis!”

Just as he spoke, the rear window slid down smoothly, revealing a tall figure seated inside.

Eugene turned his head, his eyes meeting hers. “Let’s get something to eat,” he said calmly. “I still owe you a proper thank you for last time.”

Victoria didn’t respond immediately. She remained where she was, unmoving. Bruce opened his mouth to extend the invitation again, but Victoria finally spoke.

“I’ll drive,” she stated, pressing her car key.

Her red sports car, parked along the street, beeped in reply – almost as if agreeing with her.

Eugene watched her, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

Victoria walked directly to the front of his car and leaned one hand lazily against the hood. “Mr. Rosewood,” she called out to the man inside, “I should be the one thanking you for looking after me in the hospital. And as you can see, I landed a great job today. If we’re having a meal, it’s my treat!”

Bruce had been about to mention the high-end five-star restaurant he’d already booked, but Eugene responded first.

“Alright, I’ll leave it in your hands, Ms. Lewis. Actually, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you.”

“In that case… care to ride with me?” Victoria raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on her lips.

“Sure,” Eugene replied without hesitation, stepping out of the car at once.

“Mr. Rosewood!” Bruce exclaimed, caught off guard.

Eugene turned and gave him a cool glance. That one look told Bruce everything he needed to know.

Stop talking. Time to go.

Bruce didn’t dare say another word. He quickly motioned for the driver to leave.

As the car pulled away, Eugene turned back to Victoria. “Let’s go.”

“Alright,” she said, spinning around and heading straight for her red sports car.

Eugene followed calmly. When they reached her car, he slid directly into the passenger seat.

Victoria glanced at Eugene sitting in the passenger seat and frowned slightly. She was used to driving alone, and with his tall frame now occupying the passenger seat, the interior suddenly felt rather cramped.

Well, she couldn’t exactly blame him for being tall.

Victoria got in and started the engine.

“Mr. Rosewood, any food preferences? Anything you particularly like?” she asked.

“I’m not picky. You choose.”

Hearing that, Victoria instinctively glanced at the man beside her.

Eugene sat with his hand resting casually against the window. Victoria studied the man beside her. He carried himself with such natural authority. Suddenly, it clicked – his showing up right outside Cosmos Group couldn’t be a coincidence. He’d been waiting for her.

Was dinner really all he was after?

Since he’d claimed to have no preferences and left the decision to her, she decided to take him at his word.

“Mr. Rosewood, ever had the urge to try something a little more… ordinary?” Victoria asked with a smile.

Eugene turned to look at her, paused for a few seconds, then replied, “Whatever you decide, Ms. Lewis.”

“Alright then, hold on tight.” With that, Victoria pressed hard on the accelerator, surging forward rapidly.

Eugene leaned back comfortably, unfazed by the sudden burst of speed. He watched Victoria drive, her profile sharp and striking. A faint smile touched his lips before he turned away.

But then, unexpectedly, his gaze fell on Victoria’s neckline.

She was wearing a business suit today, and with her relaxed movements, her collar had slipped slightly lower. She seemed unaware that one button had come undone, revealing a glimpse below her collarbone.

With just that one glance, Eugene caught a generous view of her chest. Acting as though nothing had happened, he turned to watch the passing scenery outside the window.

“Ms. Lewis,” he asked in an even tone, “how long will it take you to complete the concept designs for your Four Seasons collection?”

It seemed he was just making conversation to ease the tension between them.

Hearing his question, Victoria eased off the accelerator slightly. She glanced at the man beside her, thought for a moment, then answered, “About a month. Why do you ask, Mr. Rosewood?”

Eugene kept his gaze carefully averted from certain directions.

“Ms. Lewis, you know I’m a businessman. I enjoy investing.” Eugene offered a light smile. “The reason I was at the Cosmos Group today was to discuss potential investments with them.”

“What are you suggesting?” Victoria asked.

“Cosmos Group has a solid reputation. Putting money into their business seems like a smart move.” Eugene paused as if thinking it over. “Well, I haven’t quite decided which project to fund yet.” He let the words hang for a moment. “But you know, if your Four Seasons collection launches successfully within a month, I might consider putting more money into Cosmos Group.”

Victoria studied Eugene’s serious expression for a long moment before finally asking, “Can I ask what made you decide to invest more?”

Eugene gave her a slight smile. “What if I told you it’s because I was impressed by your designs?”

Victoria raised an eyebrow and shrugged. “Well, that just means you know quality when you see it.”

“Glad you think so.”

“Guess I owe my big investor a proper meal then,” Victoria joked, turning the car toward the downtown area.

Eugene just sat back in the passenger seat, letting her call the shots.

Soon they reached the entrance to a busy pedestrian street.

Victoria found a spot close by and parked.

“This area’s full of amazing food. If you see something you like, let’s give it a try!”

Eugene looked out at the crowded streets. He’d never been to places like this before, let alone eaten at them.
