Seeing Jenarth like this made Carter’s heart ache. The boy had gotten hurt because of him – he felt completely responsible.

“Jenarth, I’m taking you to the hospital right now,” Carter declared. He scooped the boy out of Isabella’s arms and headed straight for the door.

Isabella stood up, watching the worried expression on Carter’s face. For just a moment, she allowed herself a small, satisfied smile.

“Jenarth! Carter! Wait for me!” Isabella quickly wiped her tears and hurried after them.

Carter didn’t waste any time. He pushed the regular driver aside and grabbed the wheel himself. He drove fast, heading straight for the closest hospital.

“Just hang on, Jenarth. I called ahead. They’ll help you the moment we arrive. You’re going to be fine.” Carter pressed hard on the gas, making the car go as fast as it could.

In the back seat, Isabella held Jenarth close. She noticed the clear stress and concern on Carter’s face, and a pleased smile appeared in her eyes.

She looked down at Jenarth. He was pretending to be weak and still, but when their eyes met, he quickly gave her a winning grin.

Carter was too focused on driving to see the quiet moment between mother and son. He didn’t suspect a thing – his only goal was to reach the hospital quickly.

Isabella kept watching Carter, seeing how panicked he was over her and Jenarth. She couldn’t help but feel satisfied.

Carter! When you have to choose, you can only pick me and Jenarth over Victoria!

Too bad Victoria hasn’t died.Madilyn is so stupid. She couldn’t even handle a simple job.

After Carter rushed away, Isabella had been hoping to hear that Victoria was dead. But of course, things didn’t work out that way.

Victoria didn’t die! She only got a bit hurt, with just some scratches on her face.

That made Isabella really angry.

Victoria should have been ruined, but she got away with only light injuries. Facial wounds? She should have been scarred forever.

Victoria, you were lucky this time. Next time, you won’t be so fortunate.

On the day Victoria left the hospital, she received a call about an interview at Cosmos Group.

The news actually surprised her.

Her time in the hospital had been quiet, except for one time when Carter showed up and pissed her off. She had almost forgotten she even applied to work there.

The HR manager called her himself. He said they were very interested in her design work. He even asked if she had more designs to share, suggesting they might want to work together.

As for her designs!

Looking at the big collection of professional drafts she had, Victoria picked only two rough sketches to take with her. She kept all her finished designs hidden away.

While she was choosing, Robert leaned over and sighed. “Mommy, if you just posted your finished designs, every design company would be fighting to hire you. Why apply to them one by one?”

Victoria just shrugged. “Where’s the challenge in that? This is more fun.”

“Mommy, you look really pretty today,” Robert said, giving her a thumbs-up.

Victoria smiled at herself in the mirror.

She had dressed up carefully – this was her first real job interview ever.

“Be good and wait for me at home, okay? If the interview goes well, we’ll go out for a nice dinner tonight!” she told him.

Robert nodded excitedly. “Don’t worry! Mommy is amazing and beautiful. You’ll do great. Who knows – maybe you’ll meet someone cool at work who could be my new dad! Someone who’ll support us and help us have a better life!”

“You little rascal, keep talking like that and I’ll smack your bottom.” Victoria raised her hand, pretending to threaten him, and Robert quickly ran away laughing.

Watching her son hurry off, Victoria turned back to the mirror, her smile growing bigger.

Cosmos Group, HR Department.

After Victoria arrived and introduced herself, the HR staff told her the Cosmos Group found her designs very interesting and was taking them seriously. The director in charge was in the office and wanted to meet her personally.

Victoria hadn’t expected that. She considered it as a test from the company. After all, she had to go through the interview, no matter who was sitting across from her.

“Ms. Lewis, please take this private elevator to the top floor. The director will meet you there,” the staff member said. He led Victoria to the elevator and swiped a card to let her in.

“Alright,” Victoria replied as she stepped inside.

As the elevator went up, Victoria realized she should have asked for the director’s name, but it was too late now.

She knew from Robert’s research that the real owner of Cosmos Group was Eric, the richest man in the world. But the staff had said the “director” was waiting upstairs.

That so-called director couldn’t be Eric, who never appeared in public. It had to be the person running Cosmos Group’s business in the country.

As a junior designer, Victoria knew her portfolio wouldn’t normally reach the company’s top executive. The interviewer had to be the regional director, just as she’d assumed.

Oh well!

Whoever waited upstairs, she’d face them directly. No point feeling nervous.

The elevator chimed softly as it reached the top floor. When the doors slid open, Victoria straightened her posture, ran her fingers through her hair, and stepped out with confident grace.

The office door stood slightly open. The hallway was completely empty, and the entire floor remained silent.

The staff member had mentioned that the director of Cosmos Group was already inside, waiting for her.

Since they were expecting her, there was no reason to hesitate. She reached out, pushed the door open gently, and walked inside.

The spacious office featured massive floor-to-ceiling windows that presented a breathtaking panoramic view of the city below.

The main executive chair stood empty, but someone was seated at the desk with his back turned toward her. Though she couldn’t see his face, there was something strangely familiar about his silhouette.

Who could this be…?

“You…”

Hearing her voice, the man turned around slowly, and Victoria finally saw his face clearly.

When she realized it was Eugene sitting there, she froze momentarily.

Wait… Eugene?

Eugene was actually the director of Cosmos Group? Seriously?

Victoria raised an eyebrow, studying Eugene for a long moment before finally speaking. “And you are?”

“You must be Victoria?” A new, unfamiliar voice came from the side. Immediately afterward, another tall figure emerged from a nearby room.
