Filed to story: Sinful Mates (Imogen) Book by Jessica Hall
“Calm down, Imogen. I can hear your heart pounding, practically see your thoughts running through that head of yours,” Tobias says, trying to move closer, his hand reaching for me. I contemplate taking it, which monster will I survive with? Will they both devour me? Leave nothing left but maybe Tom’s memories of me?
“Nothing has changed, Imogen. We are still the same people.” Theo wraps his arms around Tobias shoulders, his eyes swirling with lust. There’s no doubt in my mind that this creature still wants me.
“You’re monsters!” I snarl at them. “You shouldn’t exist.” My voice is soft by the end of my words. I have to think of a way out of this fucked up situation. Pleading is a longshot, but what else do I have? “I want to go home, please take me home. I won’t tell, I promise. Everything will be the exact same at work.”
Theo’s eyes soften, the predatory grin fades from his lips. “Imogen,” he whispers. “Our poor girl.”
“We can’t let you go home, Imogen,” Tobias replies to me, voice cold. And if I can’t go home, that means they will be my executors. My heart races and my throat closes up, making it difficult to breathe. I take sharp shallow breaths, I’m hyperventilating, I realize. They really are going to kill me. My legs give out from under me as I slip into darkness, fighting for air as I choke on my own inability to control my emotions. I don’t want to pass out. I will myself to stay conscious, but it’s inevitable, my body collapses in on itself as darkness takes over.
The last thing I hear is Theo’s voice. “And she is out again, I told you she would not pay up.”
Waking up, I roll over. My body brushes something cold and I sit upright, blinking, trying to once more get my bearings. A light flickers on in my brain, registering the fact I passed out because my stupid body was having a meltdown. Maybe my brain is fried, and I imagined everything. But such hopes are dashed when I look to see what the cold thing is. Theo smiles over at me, turning the page of a book, his arm brushes against me again.
“How are you feeling?” he asks, his eyes not leaving his book. I don’t speak, I just watch him fascinated by how fast his eyes scan the page before he flicks to the next one. He hardly seems dangerous, he looks like a normal man, only I know that he isn’t. He’s dark and sinister yet looking at him, he hasn’t changed. He’s still his flirty bubbly self. I pause, studying the book. Wait.
“You’re reading Dark Desires?” I blurt.
Theo smiles, “You suggested it, remember?”
Theo puts the book down and rolls to his side, laying down so he’s eye level with me.
“You’re doing better, not as scared. Your heart isn’t pounding, and I can’t smell your fear,” he whispers while brushing stray hair behind my ear. He inhales deeply. His cool fingers brush against my cheek softly. The calming fog rolls in again. He’s the one that causes all this.
“Please don’t,” I whisper, turning away from his touch.
He blinks at me as his hand hovers in the air. “Don’t what?” His husky whisper washes over my body, relaxing every muscle.
“Whatever it is you’re doing to me, making everything foggy.” I wave my hand in front of my head, trying to fight the sensation. He nods and the fog lifts, my body is my own again. “Are you going to kill me?” I question, in the same soft tone he used on me.
“We will never hurt you, Imogen, I promise. Well, not hurt in that sense,” he says, a sly smile creeping onto his face as he bites his bottom lip.
I believe him, “Where is Tobias?”
“Asleep, behind you,” He leans up to glance over my shoulder. Gulping, I turn, my eyes following Theo’s to see Tobias fast asleep and lightly snoring. I half roll onto my back and the heat of his body seeps into me as I lean on him, chasing his warmth. “Don’t worry about him. He looks scary but he’s a big softie, you’ll see. Besides, you’re the only person ever to try to feed him dog food and he let you live.” Theo laughs, making the bed vibrate.
I laugh too, remembering feeding the stray, then it clicks. “That was Tobias?” I laugh, only just realizing I tried to feed my boss dog food and I smacked him on the nose. No wonder that asshole had bopped me on the nose! He got revenge. Theo laughs again, nodding his head. The movement makes Tobias roll over and he throws his arm over me, pulling me in. I freeze before realizing he’s still asleep and then relax. “What does mate mean? Obviously it doesn’t mean friend.”
“No, it doesn’t. Just think of it as soulmates. Be easier to wrap your head around.” Theo offers.
“So, you’re saying I’m Tobias’s soulmate?” I whisper. How can any of that be true? And how can they tell? Tobias has been cold to me for so long.
“Yes, but not just his, you’re mine too.” Theo adds, his eyes lock on me again. My eyebrows furrow, trying to understand. How can someone know who their soulmate is, and how can someone have two? Looking back at Theo, he watches me carefully. “You still don’t understand,” It isn’t a question.
“She will soon enough,” Tobias’ voice is a sleepy rumble. He presses his lips to my shoulder. I look over my shoulder at him, his blue eyes stare back at me. My heart rate increases. He’s a monster, all teeth and claws. He pulls me tighter against his body. I crane to get a peek at Theo, but he just watches; that green glitter in his glaze. Tobias’s mouth moves to the mark on my neck, worshiping it softly with light kisses before sucking on it. My eyes roll into the back of my head, a moan escapes my lips, my body melts back against him. Pleasure floods my senses, my panties become soaked, even more than Theo’s teasing. I love the hot tongue playing with my flesh. I can do nothing but moan again, lips parting, legs spreading. I’ll worry about survival later, I want what they are offering, all of it.
Theo’s face moves closer, his lips pressing softly to mine, before deepening the kiss and swallowing my moans. His hand slides under the blanket and unbuttons my blouse.
They work in tandem. Theo’s fingers leave my blouse, burying themselves in my hair. His tongue tangos with mine, his teeth nibble at my bottom lip, sucking it into his mouth and lapping at it with his tongue. Tobias pulls the blouse apart, snapping the rest of the buttons and throwing the fabric to the side. He unclips my bra and kisses my shoulder before he slides the straps down my arms and drops it to the floor.
Tobias pulls me down with him, his lips on my flesh, tongue circling my bite mark. Theo tears my skirt, ripping it completely from my body so I’m now pressed between them with only my soaked panties on. Tobias’s erection presses against my back while he fondles my breasts, rolling my nipples between his fingers. I whimper, lost in pleasure, it thrums through my body.
Theo rolls off the bed, standing up and pulling his shirt off over his head, revealing his bare chest and tight abs. His jeans hang low on his hips, showing his deep V-line disappearing into his pants, I lick my lips.
