Filed to story: My Husband Regrets Divorcing Me (Audrey & Cornell)
Audrey assumed that Cornell might have seen the surveillance footage showing his lack of resistance against Henley. But the truth was that he had only acted this way to protect his unborn child.
He turned to Cornell and explained, “Henley threatened me.”
“Really? With what?” Cornell insisted.
“Threatened me with…” Audrey stopped abruptly, overwhelmed by the memory of losing her first unborn child. The pain was still vivid as if it had happened yesterday.
She had vowed to do everything she could to save the baby. She had even contracted the services of an overseas maternity hospital in case Cornell found out about her pregnancy.
After going through so much, all that remained in her relationship with Cornell was pain and scars, no love.
Audrey couldn’t let Cornell dictate her baby’s fate. He was her son and she was determined to protect him at all costs.
For a long moment, Audrey remained silent and deep in thought.
Just then, a grimace tugged at the corner of Cornell’s lips. “Is there anything else you’d like to say?” He quietly untied the bath towel and added, “Let’s get down to business, then.”
Audrey could find no strength within herself to resist and once again became a tool for Cornell to satisfy his desires.
From behind, Cornell grabbed her tightly around the waist and demanded, “Say you want me. Say it.”
Audrey bit her lower lip and refused to say the words he demanded.
How could she love him now? The only thing that remained between them was nothing but deep-seated hatred.
Unable to contain her emotions any longer, she burst into tears and hurled curses at him, “Cornell, you’re a monster! I hate you… I hate everything about you…”.
Soon after, the bed sheet showed evidence of their intimacy.
Later, after Cornell took her to the bathroom to wash up, they stayed in the guest room. Audrey was completely exhausted. She lay on the bed, panting.
She felt dehumanized. In her eyes, she was nothing more than an object.
Seeing Audrey’s exhausted and pitiful state, Cornell grabbed a towel to dry his sweat.
As he approached, Audrey pulled away with a gasp and implored, “Don’t touch me. Leave me alone…”.
Audrey had no strength left, so his voice was weak. It sounded very soft in Cornell’s ears.
To Cornell, she was incredibly obedient. Even when they showered before, she was very well behaved. She also cooperated while they made love.
Gradually, Cornell was becoming rational again. His tone was no longer cold. He gently stroked her hair and reminded her, “Here’s something.”
Audrey realized immediately what he meant. She looked at him, white as paper.
She suddenly remembered that she had volunteered to help him cool off earlier. She couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.
When she thought about what they had just done, she felt very ashamed of herself.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
What if Cornell treated her like that again in the future, would she have to continue to be accommodating to him?
Fortunately, her tummy was not yet evident. And by the time the agreement ended, she would be four months pregnant.
She knew it would be more trouble if he found out she was pregnant.
Audrey knew Cornell very well. She no longer wondered if she could keep the child. She knew for certain that he would not let her raise the child alone after she gave birth.
How could he allow that? She would carry the child in her womb for ten months. To her, that child was her most precious treasure. She could not let him take it away from her. She had no right to separate them. 1
Audrey was deeply hurt. Cornell’s madness tonight reminded her once again of those times when he doubted her and hurt her.
These thoughts only strengthened her resolve to keep her pregnancy a secret.
Now she regretted agreeing to marry him again. She blamed herself for being stupid.
Why hadn’t she decided to sleep with him? It would have been better than being stuck with a marriage certificate.
Audrey’s eyes were red and puffy from crying. He closed them slightly, thinking about something lazily.
Cornell’s desire had already subsided, so he was more restrained now.
When he looked at the hickeys on her neck and back, the jealous rage in his heart seemed to have slowly dissipated.
It was replaced by a feeling of coldness and a hint of fear.
The coldness was due to the fact that she had not told him the truth. The fear was due to the thought that she might leave him at any moment.
Cornell knew himself. He was aware that he could not bear for Audrey to leave him. And he could never accept her getting pregnant by someone else.
If he was asked to choose, he was even willing to compromise as long as he kept her by his side.
He lowered his head and looked at her silently, lying next to him. Her familiar scent gradually filled the emptiness of his heart.
At that moment, he was overcome with the desire to hold her in his arms.
But before he could move, Audrey suddenly sat up and said, “I want to go home.”
Audrey was so frightened that she no longer wanted to stay here with him.
But when Cornell heard his words, the anger that had been pent up in his heart resurfaced.
He asked without emotion, “Do you want to go home?”
“Our agreement doesn’t say I can’t go home, does it?” replied Audrey, using her words against him.
Wasn’t he the first to break their agreement?
Besides, nothing in the agreement said she couldn’t go home.
“Please respect what we agreed to. I hope what happened tonight will not happen again.”
They were in a cooperative relationship, a contractual marriage, and involving sex complicated things too much.
She didn’t want it to happen. No way.
Audrey got out of bed without waiting for Cornell’s response.
She didn’t even bother to look for slippers. She walked barefoot, not wanting to stay here another minute.
She had overestimated her own strength, however, and her legs gave out on her as soon as she got out of bed.
“Ah!” Audrey let out a scream before falling to the floor.
Fortunately, the floor was carpeted, so he didn’t hurt himself too badly.
However, he struggled to get up. He grabbed the edge of the bed for support and slowly made his way to the door.
Cornell watched Audrey as he staggered along. Every step he took lit the flame in his heart.
Before Audrey could leave the room, Cornell grabbed her by the arm and threw her forcefully onto the bed. Did you not understand what I just told you? This is your home. I repeat. From now on, you will not be able to leave Villas Serenity without my permission, not a single step.”
Audrey’s eyes widened in disbelief. She asked in astonishment, “Cornell, what right do you have to curtail my freedom? Why are you doing this?”
“Do you still have to ask why? I am your husband!” roared Cornell angrily.
Then he looked at her with grim eyes and warned, “You’d better behave yourself.”
Otherwise, I will be forced to lock you up in iron chains. If you break our agreement, I will send your best friend back to that place.”
Cornell’s words were an undisguised threat.
Audrey was so furious that her hands shook uncontrollably. He cursed, “Cornell, you bastard! You’re shameless.”
She hadn’t expected him to use Nicole to threaten her.
However, his insults didn’t affect her at all.
Cornell rested his hands on the bed for support and folded his long legs on either side of Audrey. He reminded her, “Since you always consider our marriage an arrangement, show me some spirit of cooperation. We’re a couple ??have you ever seen a couple living apart and not having sex?”
“Cornelll, how dare you! You…”
Audrey was speechless. She was so angry she couldn’t help but tremble.
What she had just experienced was torturous. How dare she keep talking about sex?
“Cornelll, you asshole! I’m telling you. Remarrying you was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life.”
Audrey’s words struck Cornell’s fragile nerves.
