Filed to story: When His Wife Can’t Forgive
A rush of unspoken frustration surged through him, and he released it in a fierce, longing kiss.
Unlike the fury he had shown before, this time, he moved with a gentler, practiced touch, intent on pleasing her. Alicia was wrapped tightly in his arms, forced to bear the full brunt of his advances.
Her resolve slipped under his passionate touch, and before long, her body betrayed her, softening in his embrace.
Only when he heard her quiet, breathless moans did Caden finally pull away. His gaze was dark and intense, his breath warm against her skin. “Alicia, keep it together. We’re still at the entrance of your company. The cameras are watching us. If the car starts shaking, what will everyone think? How will you face your employees tomorrow?”
Alicia’s cheeks instantly turned red. “You…”
Caden’s lips curved into a knowing smirk. “Don’t worry. Tonight, I’ll make sure you’re satisfied.”
Caught between anger and embarrassment, she retorted, “I don’t recall asking for your services.”
Caden laughed, brushing off her words with ease.
She wore a skirt that seemed to invite mischief, tempting him at every glance. Soon, Caden’s hand crept up her thigh.
Alarmed, Alicia pressed her legs together, but Caden still managed to slip his fingers just far enough.
A soft chuckle escaped him as his fingertips met a damp warmth. “Would you respond like this if it were someone else’s hand?”
Alicia’s cheeks flushed hotter than ever, her words stumbling out. “I just… I drank too much water earlier.”
His tone turned wickedly playful. “It was just a touch, yet you’re this responsive?”
She shot him a glare, speechless.
How shameless he was!
Her gaze flicked to the undeniable bulge in his crotch and countered, “Oh, and you’re handling this any better?”
Caden shifted in his seat, unbothered by her scrutiny.
He admitted indifferently, “I’ve been wanting to sleep with you for a long time. These past few nights in the guest room have left me tossing and turning, even in my dreams.”
Alicia’s mouth quirked in exasperation. Caden’s shamelessness was so bold that even throwing a few insults at him felt like it would be a relief.
She chose silence instead.
Caden started the car and said, “It’s getting late. Let’s head back to Joy Mansion for dinner. That way, we can get home early.”
Alicia fell silent for a moment.
Given the current mood, there was little point in prolonging their cold war.
As they drove, Alicia grew increasingly uncomfortable and finally broke the silence. “Caden, do I have to go? If I need to see Ciara, I’ll arrange it for another time, but does it really have to be over dinner?”
Caden’s brow furrowed. “What are you worried about?”
She pressed her lips together and said, “Your uncle doesn’t like me.”
Caden had been aware of this for some time. “There was a misunderstanding between you two. I’ve been too busy to address it until now. Today, I informed the family that I was bringing my girlfriend home for dinner. My uncle won’t dare disrespect me.”
Alicia couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
With Caden’s heads-up, his uncle would certainly think twice about making things difficult for her.
But what would happen after that?
Caden couldn’t always be her shield, and given their last clash, his uncle already harbored resentment toward her.
Who knew what might unfold next?
Alicia dreaded facing that man.
After all, he was Caden’s uncle, a figure who had once shown kindness to him.
She couldn’t afford to be careless, yet she was unwilling to swallow her pride.
All she could do was keep her distance.
Taking a deep breath, Alicia decided it was time to speak her truth. “Caden, about that day at Joy Mansion, your uncle-“
Suddenly, a phone call sliced through the air.
The abrupt Bluetooth ringtone felt jarring, cutting Alicia off mid-sentence.
When she glanced at the caller ID and saw it was his uncle, a knot twisted in her stomach, and she fell silent.
Caden answered and put the call on speaker. “What’s up?”
Benedict sounded displeased as he asked, “Why aren’t you back yet? Don’t tell me you’re planning to stand me up again.”
“I just picked up Alicia. We are on our way.”
Benedict snorted dismissively. “She always causes delays.”
Caden’s displeasure bubbled to the surface. “It was my fault, not hers.”
Benedict hung up without saying another word.
Alicia felt a tightness in her chest, her resistance hardening like steel. “Caden, I don’t want to go back. I can’t stand your uncle!”
Noticing her emotion, Caden watched her, his brow creasing in concern.
Alicia rarely spoke so bluntly, but her open criticism of Benedict showed that he had gotten under her skin.
“Did he give you a hard time?” Caden asked.
Alicia looked straight ahead, her voice subdued. “He talks just like you – harsh.”
Caden didn’t deny it.
A sharp tongue was a family trait.
“My uncle can be blunt, but he means well. As my grandparents’ eldest son, he can’t afford to be mild if he’s going to uphold the Ward family.”
He cared too much – that was why Caden’s mother had been too trusting, deceived by Jerald’s facade.
As his sister, she had been raised with love and protection but ended up with such heartbreak. No one felt that more keenly than he did.
For a moment, Caden’s expression darkened.
Alicia understood he was torn, but she wasn’t willing to give in. “Give me some time to calm down,” she said evenly. “You go back today. Just pull over up ahead, and I’ll get out.”
Caden kept driving.
Only when they reached a red light did he stop. “This isn’t going to resolve itself with time. Better to face it now. Let me handle it,” he said.
Alicia clenched her fists. “Caden, don’t you get it? I don’t want to go.”
Her impatience seemed to frustrate him. “My uncle is my family. Do you understand that?”
Alicia felt a pang of frustration.
“What’s there to understand? He’s your family. What does that have to do with me?” she burst out.
Caden’s gaze narrowed dangerously. “What does it have to do with you, you say?”
Alicia replied, unflinching. “We’re just dating, not married. Why should I go with you and try to please someone I don’t like?”
Caden’s grip tightened on the steering wheel. However, Alicia looked away.
Her voice was calm, but her stance was firm. “I’m not going back today.” This wasn’t her obligation.
He hadn’t even mentioned marriage.
And now, Caden could sense that she had no intention of marrying him.
That thought hadn’t bothered him initially, but a slow-burning anger began to rise inside him.
No matter how upset she was, he took her back to Joy Mansion.
He stepped out of the car, his tone cold. “Are you walking yourself, or should I carry you?”
Alicia held his gaze, her expression flickering with frustration, helplessness, and sadness before she glanced away.
He was right; people in power were stubborn.
When he was pleased, he humored her.
But when he wasn’t, it was his way or nothing.
Otherwise, there would be a breakup.
The thought made her heart ache. She managed a faint sneer, lowering her eyes. “I’ll walk.”
Caden let go, yet he held onto her hand as they walked inside, his demeanor outwardly affectionate.
But for all the closeness, a rift between them remained.
Dinner was already set, waiting for them.
