Filed to story: When His Wife Can’t Forgive
Yolanda pondered her deal with Corey and realized she was trapped.
“Then I’ll sort it out on my own,” Yolanda replied, taking the chip with her.
Dorian wasn’t surprised by her determination.
Alone with his daughter, he said frankly, “I know you’ve had feelings for Caden. That’s why when Caden sought my help, I sent you here – to give you both a chance to grow closer. I’m well aware of your capabilities. You can’t fix this issue alone.”
Her involvement with Caden was influenced solely by Dorian’s schemes.
Yolanda’s eyes blazed with anger. “What are you implying? Are you saying I’m incompetent?”
Dorian responded, “I want you to think clearly and stop wasting time.”
As she thought about her years of hard work being so casually dismissed, Yolanda was overwhelmed with bitterness. “So what can you offer me? This frail body of mine?”
Dorian’s eyes narrowed.
He knew he owed Yolanda a great deal.
“Don’t worry. If it’s Caden you want, I’ll make sure you get him,” he responded, already formulating a plan. “Turning him into a son-in-law who lives under his wife’s roof isn’t hard.”
At those words, Yolanda felt a surge of relief. “Really, Dad?”
“Yes.” Dorian reassured her with a tender smile. “Yolanda, all I want is for you to be well and happy.”
Tears mingled with her smile as she embraced Dorian.
“Thank you, Dad.”
Dorian felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
However, unbeknownst to him, a sly, victorious smile crossed Yolanda’s lips.
After Yolanda had left, Dorian turned to his assistant and asked, “Any word on my wife yet?”
His assistant answered, disappointed, “No, the police are still searching.”
Dorian was deeply concerned.
Ever since their last heated argument, Regina had stormed out, and she hadn’t been seen since.
She was adept at evading others, and she had vanished without a trace.
“Deploy more people to search for her. I need to know she’s safe, and soon,” Dorian instructed urgently.
Yolanda delivered the partial solution Dorian had devised to Corey.
While it didn’t fully resolve the issue, it surpassed Corey’s expectations. In a hopeful gamble, he presented this solution to the initial group of customers.
Consequently, within a day, Corey’s product faced a direct and debilitating attack.
These clients were all high-end, historically spending freely, but they had become just as demanding. Each one was wealthy, expecting a flawless experience and a submissive attitude.
Since the mishap, Corey had kept a low profile. He had not only declined to show any humility but had also failed to resolve the product issues effectively. Even offering compensation hadn’t satisfied them.
The situation proved more daunting than Corey had anticipated.
He had been irritable all day, a mood that persisted into the evening.
In his office, he stood with one hand on his hip, his breathing heavy, his face stormy.
Adding to his frustration was Caden’s successful launch of a new product, which sold out instantly.
Now, Caden’s product was the top trending item, while Corey’s ranked second, but only due to criticism. Amidst this turmoil, every team at Hampton Group was subdued, too intimidated to speak.
Only his secretary had the courage to speak up cautiously. “Mr. Hampton, we’ve looked into Caden’s new product. It was designed and tested a long time ago. Could it be that he released it now on purpose?”
The mention of Caden’s name intensified Corey’s rage.
“Can you provide some useful information?” Corey snapped. “Don’t we have a new product to replace the Q Robot?”
The secretary hesitated. “Mr. Hampton, that’s quite challenging. If anyone could design something like the Q Robot, Caden wouldn’t be so remarkable.”
In his frustration, Corey threw a document at the secretary.
The secretary didn’t dare to move but boldly suggested, “I suspect that the Q Robot’s chip is a trap set by Caden.”
Corey had considered this notion before.
However, the chip had come from Yolanda, who had suffered under Caden as well. Was it possible she was collaborating with him?
“It’s not that there isn’t a solution,” Corey said through clenched teeth. He then added, “However, we need to find Alicia.”
The secretary suggested, “What if we pay her to help us?”
Corey felt a surge of anger. “She’s with Caden!”
The secretary fell silent.
Corey was still seething, so the secretary chose to remain quiet.
However, the silence was soon interrupted by a knock and the entrance of another person.
This individual paused, casting several glances at Corey, unsure of what to say.
The secretary, growing impatient, said, “If you have something to say, just say it!”
The person remained silent.
Corey’s brows knit together in frustration as he asked, “Are you looking for trouble?”
After a moment’s hesitation, the person finally spoke. “Mr. Hampton… Mr. Ward’s assistant just called. They’ve invited you to dinner tonight.”
Corey was taken aback.
Dinner?
With their business rivalry, what could there possibly be to discuss over a meal?
Surely, this was an opportunity for Caden to boast about his new product’s success or to mock him.
The secretary sensed the underlying challenge too, a shiver running down his spine.
Realizing that anger wouldn’t solve anything, Corey sent everyone away to gather his thoughts alone.
He needed to figure out a solution.
But shortly after everyone left, Corey’s phone began to ring.
He knew Caden was on the other end.
He knew he should ignore the call.
But to not answer might be seen as a sign of weakness.
As the phone was about to stop ringing, Corey picked up.
Caden’s smooth voice greeted him. “Mr. Hampton, are you free?”
Corey felt an immediate headache brewing.
He wanted nothing more than to confront Caden directly.
“Congratulations, Mr. Ward,” Corey said stiffly. “You’ve scored another success.”
Caden responded casually, “I’ve been making significant profits consistently. It’s almost routine for me now. The numbers keep increasing, but they’re just digits on a screen after all.”
Hearing this, Corey lost any interest in continuing the conversation.
It was clear that competing with Caden was as challenging as Corey had feared.
“You didn’t call just to brag, did you?”
Caden’s tone was casual as he replied, “I know you’re struggling with your robot issues. If you really can’t find a solution, I might be able to help.”
Corey asked, “Would you involve Alicia in this?”
Caden answered, “Of course not. I suggest you reach out to her directly.”
Unable to handle the conversation any longer, Corey angrily hung up the phone.
On the other side, Caden ended the call with a smirk of satisfaction.
Hank gave him a thumbs up and said, “Mr. Ward, you really have a way with things.”
Caden modestly responded, “Not that impressive, just average.”
Hank chuckled, finding Caden’s humor dry but amusing. The joke, though subtle, was a nod to Caden’s strategic thinking.
Lately, Caden and Alicia had been frequently arguing, each stubbornly holding their ground.
Hank didn’t know how things were between them privately, but every morning, he saw that Caden looked as sour as a lemon.
