I felt as if I had been struck by a bolt of lightning.

It’s always the king who dies young, the only prince, the elders in power.

Something invisible is coming to the surface.

“But what can I do for you?” I asked eagerly.

“There has always been a curse on the royal family. As we get older and more capable, the rage in our blood eats away at my rationality. Every king dies by going mad and doing terrible things. Though I was born a prince, I often mourned the curse. As a prince, I was told to get married early, whether my wife was my mate or not. I hated it. I thought about ending the curse when I realized I couldn’t find my mate. But I met you.”

“Jane,” he said, gazing at me with his deep eyes, “Maybe you are the cure that the moon goddess has arranged for me. You are the answer to everything.”

The air thickened. He got closer and closer to me so that I could see my teeth marks on his neck. Even though I tried so hard, I didn’t break his skin.

“What do you mean?” I couldn’t understand why I was his cure.

“I once found a special scent on your father that calmed me when I lost control. Later, I discovered that the smell came from a handkerchief. Your father told me it was a gift from his daughter. That’s why I decided to take his daughter. He just didn’t tell me he had two daughters.”

I see!

I remembered the handkerchief I found on Callum.

It turns out my father used this handkerchief, but why didn’t he tell Callum it was mine? Why doesn’t he admit to the royal family that I am his daughter?

Sensing my gaze, he suddenly curled his lips. “I’ve told you everything. You left a lot of teeth marks on me today, and I’m going to leave something on you.”

“What?” Before I could ask, I was wrapped around my waist, the back of my head was pressed against his solid shoulders, and the back of my neck was bitten by teeth. The pain made me gasp, but Callum held me tighter.

“Master, it hurts a little,” Callum said, gripping the flesh of the back of my neck until the pain gave me a tingling sensation that forced me to open my mouth and feel Callum’s tongue slide across the wound, “It will make you smell like me. Everyone will smell it, and they will know where you stand in my heart. I did what you asked, Jane.”

“Callum, no, master……”

Bang, Bang, Bang!

A loud knock on the door interrupts us, and Callum, frowning impatiently, suddenly gets up, pulls back the quilt, and tucks me in.

“Well!” A towel came up to me before I could speak. “Wipe your hair.”

With that, Callum went to open the door to an anxious knock.

“Sister!”

“Your Highness!”

Vivian and Alen’s voices rang out at the same time, and I quickly wrapped myself up completely, revealing only one head.

“What are you doing here? !” Callum stood at the door, his face cold and his tone disgruntled.

“I knew my sister was being bullied, so I came to check on her.” Vivian had her hands on her hips and a concerned look on her innocent face. She complained, “Those people are really bad. They took my sister away as soon as I turned around. It’s a good thing I hung my little bell on her hand, or I don’t know what would have happened.”

As she spoke, she pushed Callum’s arm away from the door and headed straight for my bed.

“Hey!” Vivian moves so fast that Alen doesn’t even have time to grab the corner of her dress, so she has to face Callum’s dark face alone.

“I’m Sorry, Your Highness, but Vivian just doesn’t want Jane to be bullied, so please don’t be mad at her for notifying you in time,” Alen whispered.

“Of course I’m not angry, but you have to keep an eye on her.”

Callum gritted his teeth and spoke word by word.

After that night, Vivian never left my side. She always thought there were no good people in the palace, but in fact, since I began to express my feelings directly, most of the people in the palace were very respectful to me. Except for one person, Susana always had a touch of coldness under her pale gray eyes.

“Miss, please get up.”

Susana’s tone is always rigid, like a machine that never makes mistakes. I was wrapped in a soft quilt. It was as soft as a cloud, and when I opened my eyes, the curtains of the French windows in my bedroom were pulled back by the maids, and the soft morning sun shone through the glass, illuminating my sleeping face.

“Good morning, Susana.”

I sat up and said good morning to her in my firm voice.

Whether or not her attitude towards me has changed, I am showing her my attitude.

“If there’s nothing urgent, I don’t think you need to open the curtains for me.”

“I must warn you, Miss, there is much to learn today. Your teacher is already waiting.”

Susana spoke slowly. Her hoarse, old voice hovered in the quiet bedroom. I was sure there was a warning in her tone, and I was wearing a white gown with a royal design, with the help of the ladies.

“Yes, I know what you mean.” I tried to open my tired eyes and wake myself up.

The maid, who had combed my hair and dressed me, stepped away and I opened my eyes to look at myself in the bedroom mirror.

The girl in the mirror has long chestnut hair. Pearls adorned her thick hair, which made her hair look as smooth as pearls. A delicate veil hung over her forehead to hide her glittering chestnut-colored eyes. Her eyes were amber in the sunlight. She has a small but straight nose, red lips. They show a very friendly temperament in her white face.

A soft curl of hair hung down the right side of her neck, making it look even longer. She wore a simple but noble pearl necklace and a gold-trimmed dress. The royal family’s dark gold emblem loomed above her dress, highlighting her charm and status. In the mirror, she looked like a budding Lily still dewy.

“You look beautiful today, too, miss.”

The lady-in-waiting behind said in a low voice, and then shut her mouth under Susana’s stare.

I didn’t speak, just looked at myself in the mirror. To tell the truth, I always have a strange feeling about myself. From the first day I arrived at the palace, I would wear the clothes Susana had chosen to attend the Queen’s classes arranged by Susana every day. These courses cover a wide range of topics, including royal origins and history, the evolution of werewolf communities, the interpretation of werewolf and human codes, and more. And it’s a lot different than what Callum had me learn on the wagon, and it’s all being taught by the elders, and it’s a lot of pressure, because I didn’t have a systematic education. So I had to review the course every day until midnight.

Sighing quietly in my heart, I turned and smiled at the maid behind me. She glanced at Susan in a panic, then lowered her head with a red face.

“Come on, don’t keep the elders waiting,” I said to Susana.

The bedroom door is opened and Vivian is waiting outside. She now has to wear the clothes Susana asked for every day, which makes her very depressed. But as soon as she saw me, she was in a good mood. She has a good way to regulate her mood and never lets trouble stay in her heart for too long. She has been like a carefree child, which makes me envious.

“Sister! … miss.”

Vivian changed the name she called me according to Palace rules. Her blonde curls were plaited into long braids and she looked more like a girl who had just been allowed out of the house.

Vivian was used to calling me what she wanted, but after Susana’s many corrections, she finally learned to address me as ‘miss’ when Susana showed up. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Susana’s furrowed brows relax. Since Vivian wasn’t a werewolf, she was always treated differently by Susana.

Although Susana was looking at me, I rubbed Vivian’s little head for comfort. Well, Vivian was like a real sister to me. Every time I look at her, I always think of myself being mocked and helpless in the red moon pack, so I don’t want her to be a little sad.

Vivian was always happy again, and when I touched her, she would lift her little head and smile at me.

“My Lady,” Susana’s voice ghostly rose behind me.

I took a deep breath and withdrew my hand from Vivian’s small head. “I know what you mean,” I said slowly. “I’ll go to class right away.”

Through the long corridor, the maid pushed the door open for me, and then quietly retreated. Only Vivian accompanied me as my lady-in-waiting. In the study, the white-haired elder was already waiting for me.

“Good morning, miss.”
