Filed to story: When His Wife Can’t Forgive
Alicia started the engine, but before she drove away, she turned to Caden and asked, “How are you going to handle Corey?
“I have a plan.”
Caden returned upstairs and called Hank into his office. “Pick a cup that costs less than seven thousand dollars and deliver it to Corey personally,” he instructed. Hank was visibly confused. “Why a mug of all things? Isn’t that supposed to be a gift between lovers?” “I’m talking about the kind a man uses under the covers in the middle of the night,” Caden clarified.
Hank’s expression changed drastically. “That might be an even worse idea,” he said, unsure how to feel about his orders.
“It’s a sign between men,” Caden noted with a shrug. “He’s acting like a touch-starved, sex-crazed degenerate. He should appreciate it.”
Swallowing his embarrassment, Hank said goodbye and went about his business.
When Corey received the gift, he happened to be with Yolanda.
She was thrilled to hear that it was from Caden and insisted on opening the box herself.
Yolanda’s eyes sparkled with curiosity as she took the item out and inspected it. She had never seen anything like it. “What is this?”
Corey glanced over, barely interested in the delivery.
He may not have used one himself, but he had seen it many times.
Corey frequented places of debauchery and indulgence. And while he had never been involved with the women in that business, he had been exposed to his fair share of risky situations.
The only thing that came to mind at the moment was how generous Caden had been in giving him a world-class brand.
The bastard must be worried about Corey’s lack of experience, not that it was any of his business.
Corey looked away and went back to what he was doing. “It’s a masturbation cup,” he said with a blank face. Yolanda frowned, still looking closely at the object. “What does it do?”
Corey finally stopped and turned to really look at her. “Why are you acting so innocent in front of me?” he asked with a mocking chuckle.
Yolanda rolled her eyes at him and opened the top of the cylinder.
All of a sudden, the pieces clicked together in her head and she quickly tossed the cup away with a horrified expresslon.
“You’re treating me like an idiot!” she exclaimed, feeling both angry and embarrassed.
“Was my answer not clear earlier?” Corey replied in a cold voice.
Yolanda had no one to blame for her ignorance. She might lack experience, but it wouldn’t have hurt her to do some research to broaden her knowledge.
“Why would he give you something like that?” Yolanda asked, looking and feeling disgusted.
Corey started to unbutton his shirt, revealing his muscular chest. “You’re better off not knowing. “Stop putting on airs with me,” Yolanda snapped in frustration. “I’m only working with you because of Caden.
I need to know everything he’s up to!”
Corey scoffed. “I don’t know whether to praise your dedication or laugh at your stupidity.”
But Yolanda was only worried about one thing. “What were you doing at Caden’s this morning?”
Corey lit a cigarette and took a slow drag. “1 brought a bag of cash and offered to buy Alicia from him. “How much?”
“Seven hundred million dollars.” Yolanda was stunned.
Seven hundred million was no small sum. Although Caden had no shortage of money, seven hundred million dollars was certainly more valuable than a single woman.
And yet, Corey had returned alone and Caden had sent over a masturbation cup.
Caden had obviously turned down the deal. Alicia was more important to him than seven hundred million dollars.
Yolanda’s hands clenched into fists at her sides. “Vuell, I don’t know whether to call you stupid or Alicia cheap for reducing Caden to this state!”
Leaning back in his chair, Corey closed his eyes and thought about the events that had led up to today.
He had thought for half a month before coming up with this suggestion.
Getting the seven hundred million dollars had been the easy part. Corey knew that once he presented his offer to Caden, his intentions for Alicia would be exposed. Caden would inevitably be on guard, which would only complicate Corey’s future plans.
However, Corey was sure that Caden would find out about his secret dealings sooner or later, so he decided to push forward with his approach. Unfortunately, he had miscalculated the situation. It seemed that Caden cared for Alicia far more than Corey had anticipated-or more than anyone could have expected.
“What do you even want that woman for?” Yolanda berated him. “You actually offered seven hundred million? Ha! I really underestimated you, you pervert!”
Corey groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. “You’re too damn noisy. Men don’t like loud women. If you changed that, maybe Caden would spare a glance at you. Got it?”
In a fit of anger, Yolanda swept her arm across the coffee table, knocking everything to the floor. “Why are you being so reserved with your methods?” she spat, furious. “If Caden won’t let go of Alicia, then make the choice for him and ruin her reputation. Hire some thugs and have them take their liberties with her. Let’s see if Caden would even look her way again when he finds out she was used by someone else.”
Corey flicked the ash from his cigarette and gave her a wry look. “You’ve known Caden since childhood. You should know how he works. Remember when Joshua kidnapped Alicia? She wasn’t harmed, but Joshua ended up blind, crippled, and locked up. If you go down this path, you’ll end up with an even worse fate.”
Yolanda’s jealousy grew, but she stopped, realizing the severity of what she had suggested.
“Besides, Caden is cautious. He’s been thriving for years without anyone gaining any leverage on him,” Corey continued, his voice steady. “Even with Jerald, he managed the situation without lifting a finger. He’s got incredible restraint. But he did lose control with Joshua. Just a little.”
Yolanda gritted her teeth. “I don’t need you to remind me how much he cares for that woman, Alicia!” But Corey wasn’t interested in her frustrations. He was focused on one thing: finally dealing with Caden.
Meanwhile, Caden returned to his apartment and worked late into the night. As a migraine began to form, he removed his glasses and rested his eyes for a moment. He then thought about what awaited him in the bedroom. Setting his work aside, he headed to the bathroom for a shower.
When he emerged, he found Alicia standing in front of her dresser, applying lotion. The familiar scent filled the air. He dried himself off with a towel and spoke, “Alright, you need to stop tempting me. You’ve been draining me a lot these past few days.”
Alicia snorted. “So, you’ve finally reached your limit? Karma’s a bitch, and you deserve it.”
She padded over to the bed, climbed under the covers, and let out a yawn. “But don’t worry. If you’re out of commission, I’ll just find someone else to take over your duties.”
Caden jumped in beside her, pulling her into his arms. Sleep quickly overtook him, and he couldn’t be bothered to respond to her teasing.
“I actually think Mr. Hampton isn’t that bad,” Alicia continued to tease him. “‘He’s not that much older than you, and he seems to have a clean record. So unlike your dastardly ways.”
That had Caden laughing. “Do you think Corey is genuinely interested in you? Speaking of cleanliness, he is obsessed with it. In fact, he only sleeps with virgins.” Caden had understood Corey’s motive the moment the latter set his eyes on Alicia. After all, he had allotted a solid chunk of his time and resources in pursuit of the lead they had dug up.
Soon, Caden’s breathing grew slow and steady, lulling Alicia until they were both asleep.
She woke up the next morning to a familiar, intruding sensation. Her eyes flew open, and sure enough, Caden was hard at work on top of her.
“You…” Alicia croaked.
She tried to struggle, but Caden only pinned her wrists above her head and leaned closer. “Behave. I need to be in the office in half an hour.”
Alicia was at a loss. She had actually believed his nonsense, thinking he was too exhausted lately. She should have known that he would be back to his brutish ways after a night of rest.
Caden finally eased up after all his teasing. He looked over the kiss marks on her skin and her tired expression, smirking. “Out of energy already? Was that enough for you?”
Alicia just rolled her eyes and buried her face in the pillow, too tired to respond.
Caden scooped her up and carried her to the bathroom. As steam filled the room, Alicia muttered, “Aren’t you supposed to be rushing to work? I can handle it myself. Don’t be late.”
Caden shrugged. “I’ll get there when I feel like it.”
Alicia blinked in surprise. “Don’t you have something important to get to?”
“When did I ever say that?” he shot back, smirking.
“But you were acting like you were in a huge hurry earlier!” she said, her voice rising. “You made me rush through everything, like you were going to be late!”
Caden burst out laughing at her description of their morning together. “Alicia, you’re blunt,” he teased.
Her cheeks turned pink as she muttered, “Well, it’s your fault for tricking me.”
She cringed, wondering if she had made a fool of herself in the heat of the moment. One look at Caden’s teasing gaze, and she knew she had. The more she thought about it, the more annoyed she became. Suddenly, she kicked her legs, splashing water all over him. “Since you’re not in a hurry, why not skip work entirely?”
Caden just smirked, shrugging off his freshly put-on shirt. His muscles, still toned from their earlier fun, were almost unfairly on display, making her blush.
He gave her a dangerous look. “Skip work for what? You?” As he lifted a leg to step into the tub, Alicia threw her hands up. “You’re not allowed in here!”
But she couldn’t stop him.
Before long, the bathroom was filled with another round of intimacy. When Alicia was completely worn out, Caden scooped her up and laid her on the bed. Her stomach grumbled loudly in protest.
“I’m starving,” Alicia said weakly.
Caden smirked and pretended to misunderstand. “Since when did you turn into such a glutton? Three times, and still not satisfied?”
Alicia clenched her teeth. “I mean food. I’m hungry.”
“Didn’t I satisfy you earlier?” Caden teased.
Alicia was fuming now. Frustrated, she shot back, “You big pervert! Why don’t you just chop it off, make soup with one half and stir-fry the other? I could eat three big plates of pasta with that!”
Caden raised an eyebrow, clearly taking it as a compliment. “So, you’re that impressed with my size, huh? Enough for two dishes?”
Alicia was left speechless. She couldn’t handle it anymore. She was ready to call the cops and get this guy locked up.
Ever since Corey’s Q Robots had taken off, Alicia had been spending more and more time at Blizzard Group’s headquarters.
Caden was focused on digging into Corey’s activities while working on new products to stay competitive, and Alicia was there to help.
“Are you ignoring your gallery?” Caden asked, noticing the dark circles under her eyes from staying up late. “You should head back to your gallery. We don’t really need you here.”
Alicia shot back, “Mr. Langstaff is doing a better job managing the gallery than I ever did. I just need to check in now and then.”
Caden mocked her, “Weren’t you the one saying the gallery was your true love? Now you’re ditching it without a second thought.”
Alicia fired back, “Well, this job pays better. It’s good to be versatile.”
