He turned back, his voice dripping with bitterness. “Caden, you absolute jerk! I never want to see your face again!”

Hank stood by the car, frozen like a mannequin. “Mr. Hopkins, I did my best to stop you, but you wouldn’t listen.”

Gerry shot him a glare sharp enough to cut, adding a few choice curses for good measure.

Hank could only stand there, speechless.

The two men climbed into their respective cars, their engines roaring to life as they drove off in opposite directions.

Once their taillights disappeared into the night, another vehicle emerged from the shadows, creeping forward to park beneath the sprawling branches of a tree.

Yolanda sat behind the wheel, her eyes fixed on the cruise ship.

In the inky blackness of the night, everything felt eerily still, the quiet tinged with an undeniable romanticism.

Then, without warning, a dazzling burst of fireworks erupted in the sky, shattering the silence with a thunderous bang.

The display was magnificent, illuminating the heavens in a kaleidoscope of light and color, momentarily banishing the night as if it were day.

On the deck of the cruise ship, two figures were entwined in the ethereal glow of the fireworks.

They kissed, their forms outlined against the vibrant sky, while the wind swirled around them.

Caden pressed his lips passionately against Alicia’s neck, his hands tugging impatiently at the bothersome fabric of her dress.

Yolanda’s eyes brimmed with tears, the sight slicing through her heart like a jagged blade.

She quickly turned her gaze away, her breaths shallow and uneven.

Her hands tightened on the steering wheel, her knuckles white with strain. A tempest of jealousy and fury churned within her, threatening to overwhelm her composure.

Meanwhile, Caden trailed soft kisses across the bridge of Alicia’s nose, his lips lingering as if savoring the moment.

The tip of her nose felt icy against his warm skin.

He eased his hold, his voice a low murmur, tender and filled with concern.

“Are you feeling cold?”

Alicia wrapped her delicate arms around his waist and shook her head in response.

The wind tousled her silky hair, exposing her smooth neck and flushed cheeks. Her eyes shimmered like a sorceress’s beneath the soft light, their allure drawing him in.

Caden’s breath caught for a moment, captivated by her beauty. Then, without hesitation, he scooped her into his arms and carried her inside.

Alicia protested, “I want to see the fireworks!”

“You can enjoy them through the floor-to-ceiling windows,” he replied, his patience fraying.

As he carried her, he lifted the hem of her long dress, his hands gliding up her thighs.

The sensation of her soft skin made him lose himself for a moment, his touch lingering as he caressed her again and again.

Just as they passed through the doorway, urgency overtook him.

Alicia let out a soft sound, her cheeks heating as she buried her face against the crook of his neck. Suddenly recalling something, she lifted her head and said earnestly, “You didn’t use any protection!”

Caden’s dark eyes locked onto hers, intense and electric, carrying a storm of emotion just beneath the surface.

“I’ll take care of that in a moment,” he replied, his voice thick with desire, his breath growing more uneven with every step. “Let me savor this for a little longer.”

When it was over, Alicia lay sprawled on the plush carpet, her long hair cascading around her like a dark halo. A delicate blanket barely covered her waist, leaving her back exposed.

Her slender back bore the unmistakable marks of their passion-faint bite marks and tender kisses adorned her skin.

Her fragile waist, marked with bruises, told the story of Caden’s fervent grip.

Caden’s gaze swept over her, and another wave of desire surged within him. But seeing her utterly spent, he held back.

It had been a long day, and they had already gone through three condoms.

If he pushed her any further, she would undoubtedly be upset.

Restless and yearning, Caden lit a cigarette, the faint glow of the ember illuminating his chiseled features.

Alicia propped herself up on her elbows, her eyes fixed on him with quiet curiosity.

Caden took a deep drag from his cigarette, his striking and magnetic features illuminated in the dim light. As he exhaled, the smoke curled around him, adding to his effortless allure.

Alicia felt a flutter in her heart, an inexplicable pull, prompting her to crawl into his embrace.

He lowered his gaze, taking in her enchanting form with open admiration. His eyes lingered, warm and intense, as though committing every detail of her to memory.

Leaning against his chest, her voice came out soft and raspy. “Is the cigarette enjoyable?”

She suddenly realized she had no idea what brand of cigarette Caden preferred.

The scent wasn’t as harsh as the ones she had smelled before. Its cool, subtle tobacco essence seemed to mirror him-compelling, refined, and impossible to resist.

He pulled the cigarette from his lips, his voice low and inviting. “Care to try?”

Without waiting for her reply, he pressed his mouth against hers.

The tip of her tongue brushed against the faint trace of smoke lingering on his lips.

It was a mix of exhilaration and bitterness, an unfamiliar taste that left her breathless.

Warmth enveloped her, radiating from him and seeping into her very core.

She didn’t push him away. Before she realized it, she was lost in his kisses again, their passion reigniting as naturally as a spark catching fire.

Caden, mesmerized by her, murmured softly, “Just let me stay a little longer like this. Then we can clean up. How does that sound?”

Alicia felt her cheeks flush a deep crimson, but she couldn’t find it in herself to refuse him.

Caden pulled the thin blanket over their entwined bodies, holding her close.

Breaking the quiet intimacy of the moment, Alicia’s curiosity surfaced. “Are you considering marriage with someone?”

Caden lazily opened his half-closed eyes, his expression a mix of irritation and amusement. “What’s that question all about?”

Alicia blinked, slightly caught off guard. “If you’re not, then what’s with the grand surprise?”

She knew Caden well enough to understand that he wouldn’t go to such lengths without a purpose.

He let out a low chuckle, clearly amused by her line of questioning. With a playful nudge, he teased, “And what if I really am? Would you crash the wedding?”

Alicia’s eyes widened in surprise, her mind reeling.

“You have an inflated view of my capabilities,” Alicia said, shaking her head. “With all the enemies you’ve made, I can only imagine armed guards surrounding the venue. I’d never manage to pull that off.”

Caden pressed further, his tone teasing yet probing. “So, you’d just stand by and watch me tie the knot with someone else?”

“What other choice do I have?” Alicia replied, her curiosity now piqued.

He stared at her intently, his gaze unblinking, as if searching for something hidden in her eyes.

A mysterious smile crept across his lips. “I see.”

Alicia stifled a yawn and shifted slightly, her body growing heavy with fatigue. “It’s time to get up,” she murmured. “We should wash up and get some sleep.”

Caden, however, had other plans.

He tightened his grip around her waist, pressing her firmly against him.

Alicia felt a shiver course through her body. “You… What do you think you’re doing?”

Despite having assured her this would be the last time, Caden silenced her with a kiss, reigniting their passionate embrace.

“Alicia,” he murmured between kisses, “today has made me incredibly happy.”

Later, as they lay entwined once more, Caden leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear.

He whispered sweet words, but Alicia instinctively covered her ears, her voice tinged with playful skepticism. “They say a man’s words in moments like these are never to be trusted.”

For a moment, Caden was at a loss for words. Then, as if shifting gears, he began sharing his story about Lina.

Alicia suddenly felt wide awake. “Are you truly going to create an intelligent robot that fully replaces humans?”

“Absolutely,” he replied without hesitation, his voice brimming with enthusiasm.

Rather than deflating his excitement, Alicia’s response was earnest. “I genuinely hope you achieve that.”

“It’s nearly complete,” Caden said, his tone filled with pride. “Yolanda has been instrumental in the project.”

Caden appreciated talent, and Yolanda undoubtedly had plenty.

He genuinely admired her skills.

Alicia couldn’t help but smile, feeling happy for him. “That’s wonderful. I’ve heard so much about the Moss family’s achievements. They’re truly impressive,” she remarked.

Caden nodded thoughtfully. “Dorian is getting older, and Yolanda hasn’t been well. I need to put my other projects on hold for the time being.”
