Just then, her phone buzzed with a text from Xander.

Xander: [Cameron, where are you right now? Are you at Noble Vista? College starts tomorrow, so let me give you a ride. I did my registration today, so I’m free tomorrow.]

Xander was heading to a sports college. Lately, he had been messaging Cameron on and off through WhatsApp.

Cameron always replied in a pretty lukewarm way/but Xander didn’t dare to push his luck. After all, she’d already turned him down clearly.

Still, she hadn’t cut him off completely, and to him, that was something. He’d take it if staying friends was all he could manage for now.

He figured he would have another chance in the future when the time was right, hopefully.

Cameron: [It’s fine. My family’s taking me there.]

Xander: [Family? You found your birth parents? When did that happen?]

Cameron: [Yeah, I found them about two weeks are

The past couple of weeks had honestly been the happiest of Cameron’s life. Just like Bradley once told her bare laminy went pl Shally understood what that meant.

Xander (Congrats!]

Cameron: [Thanks.]

Xander: [How about I join your family to see you off tomorrow? Where do you live?]

Cameron: [What?)

Xander: [Don’t get the wrong idea. I mean, we’re friends. I’m free tomorrow anyway, so I can tag along.)

Cameron: [Thanks for offering, but that’s not necessary.]

Xander replied with a crying emoji, but Cameron didn’t reply anymore.

Xander flopped back onto the couch, staring at his chat window with Cameron in defeat as he thought, ‘She completely shut me down again. How brutal.

Suddenly, Xander shot up from the couch. ‘I need to stake out her place. Cameron’s family will be seeing her off, right? Since I can’t win her over, I’ll win over her family. What if her family actually thinks I’m a good fit for her?’

The thought got Xander all fired up again, and he quickly texted Cameron again. [Oh, right, Cameron. Who are the members of your family?]

He needed to know how many people he was dealing with so he could prepare the right gifts.

Cameron: [Why are you asking that?]

-millant this

Cameron (I have two older brothers.)

Xander: Are your parents coming to drop you off at the campus tomorrow too?)

Cameron: [You sure have a lot of questions.]

Xander: [I’m just making conversation.]

Cameron: [No more questions. I’m going to sleep.]

Xander: [Alright then. Good night.]

“See you tomorrow.” Xander’s lips curled into a smile. He immediately got up and went to the storage room at home to look for gifts for Cameron’s family.

Cameron had two older brothers, and regardless of whether her parents were tagging along, Xander still planned to prepare gifts for them.

He was determined to make a good impression on Cameron’s family.

At Moore Manor, Elijah sat at his desk, holding the medical university’s acceptance letter.

If he hadn’t assumed Cameron would be attending med school too, they could’ve been heading off to Stellanford University together tomorrow.

His phone sat on the desk, still open to his chat history with Cameron.

He thought about sending a message to Cameron, as they hadn’t talked in a while, and from the looks of it, they’d probably see even less of each other moving forward.

However, he didn’t know what he could say to her. He couldn’t bring himself to confess his feelings.

Elijah just sat there quietly at his desk, until someone knocked on the study door.

“Come in.” Elijah snapped back to reality.

The door opened and in walked a well-groomed woman-his mother.

As a plastic surgeon and a total workaholic, she worked nearly every day of the year and always exuded polished, high-achiever energy.

“Mom,” Elijah called out.

“You’re still up, Eli?” Beverly walked over to him.

Tonight, she’d actually made a point to leave work early. Her surgery schedule was already booked solid until the month after next.

“It’s still early,” Elijah replied.

Beverly ruffled his short hair. “You’re about to start college, and you’ll be an adult soon. It’s time to really start thinking about your future.”

“My future?” Elijah looked up at her. “Aren’t just supposed to take over the family business?”

His mom paused. “Is that what you really think?”

Elijah just looked at her.

She said, “Your dad and I haven’t been around much, but you’ve always been independent, outstanding, and full of your own ideas. just want you what you’re passionate about in life.”

Elijah understood what his mom was saying and nodded. “I got it, Mom.”

Beverly added, “Tomorrow, your dad and I will go with you to handle your college registration.”

Elijah was a little surprised. “You guys have time?”

Beverly smiled. “For something this important to you, we’ll make time no matter what.”

A small smile tugged at his lips. “Thanks, Mom.”

When he was a kid, he always wished his parents could take him to school. But every time, it was the butler who went with him.

Beverly affectionately ruffled his hair again. “It’s getting late. You should sleep soon.”

Elijah nodded. “Okay, Mom.”

As Beverly turned to leave, she paused at the door, then glanced back with a teasing smile. “By the way, now that you’re in college, you’re allowed to start dating. I’m excited to meet your future other half.”

Elijah’s gaze dropped completely. He wondered, ‘My future other half?’

The first person that popped into his mind was Cameron, but he knew there was no future for the two of them.

He wasn’t going to bother Cameron. Just quietly watching her from afar was enough for him. And it seemed like he was going to let his parents down this time.

Elijah put his phone away. In the end, he still decided not to reach out to Cameron, knowing that she’d be spending her time with her family now.

He wanted her to enjoy her every moment with her family to the max.

Al Saunders Manor in Viremont, Bradley was in his room, packing his suitcase.

Eddie was lounging on the sofa nearby, casually scrolling through his phone when he asked, “Hey Brad, Cameron was this year’s top scorer, if gift ymar college did he end up choosing?”

Eddie shot him a smirk. Still folding his clothes, Bradley replied, “Stellanford University.”

Eddie raised an eyebrow. “Oh? So Cam’s going to my school too?”

Bradley glanced up at him. “Eddie, you sure you didn’t cheat on your college entrance exam back then?”

Eddie was left speechless. “Hey, I’m the real deal,” he defended, patting his chest.

Eric snorted, “Yeah, so awesome that in a few years, your alma mater will be embarrassed to admit you went there.”

“Pfft, Eric. Cut the crap. My alma mater is definitely proud of me.” Eddie glared at him.

Eric looked between Bradley and Eddie, then said slyly, “Eddie, you’ve got girls chasing you left and right. Why not introduce one to Cameron?”

As soon as Eric said that, Bradley’s hands froze. At the same time, Bradley turned to look at him, and their gazes met.

There was a hint of sharpness in Bradley’s gaze, though it was hidden well behind his gold-rimmed glasses.
