I have no words to explain what I felt right then… Everything happened so quickly and it felt like a dream… He was the reason I mostly got bullied, but today he is protecting me…
When he was dragging me away from the crowd, I saw Luke was staring at both of us with extremely widened eyes…
Sarah’s POV
Shane dragged me behind him to an empty study room. He made me sit on a chair. Then he pulled a chair near me and sat down.
“It hurts, right? Should I take you to the Medical Centre?” he asked concerned.
“No… No… I am fine…” I said, stretching my self on the chair to ease up my aching stomach… Beth’s kick on my lower abdomen was hurting like crazy… Other than that, I was actually okay… “But you don’t look like you are fine…” he said sadly.
“My stomach hurts, but nothing big… I am used to these types of beatings, Shane…” I said, trying to smile… Until those words came out of me, I didn’t realize the seriousness of my words. Shane’s face distorted with pain…
“You have to go through all of these because of me…” he said apologetically.
“Oh! I didn’t mean anything like that, Shane… I just wanted to tell that I am okay…” I immediately said.
“Even if you mean that or not, it is the truth, Sarah… She attacked you today because of me… I know most of the other people who bullied you in the past, they also did that just to impress me…” he said.
“All of them were in the past, Shane… Just forget them… Beth is just stupid, you have nothing to do with what happened today…” I said, trying to make his heart. What he said was true, he is the main reason I got bullied every day, but he is changed now, and I didn’t want to dig into the past and hurt him.
“I was such a ruthless person to let you getting hurt like that…” he buried his head between his hands…
“Please, don’t worry about that, Shane… You have changed… That is the most important thing…” I said, keeping my hand on his leg gently.
“I don’t even know why I hold that grudge against you for this long… I am such a jerk…” he said worriedly.
Hold that grudge against me? Why he actually hold a grudge against me? As far as I can remember, I haven’t done anything wrong to him…
“Shane… I know this is not the right time, but I always wanted to ask you this…” I said looking at him…
He lifted up his head and looked at me with a confused look…
“Actually, Shane… What is the reason you hold a grudge against me?” I asked.
His eyes got widened… Like he couldn’t believe what he heard.
“You can’t think about a reason?” he asked.
“Every day, I tried to think of a reason why you, mom, and dad hate me so much, but I couldn’t think of anything,” I replied.
“I don’t exactly know why mom and dad treat you so badly, but I can just guess the reason… However, I know exactly, why I wanted to hurt you… But… Can’t you really think of the reason…” he asked. “No… I truly can’t think anything…” I said.
“Don’t you remember anything from our childhood?” he then asked.
Childhood… Well… I don’t have a distinct memory of our childhood…
“I don’t remember much, Shane… Actually, childhood is almost like a blank page for me…” I said.
“Really? I remember everything about our childhood… Every single detail… ” he said, looking outside the window. He was like trying to remember things…
“It is really odd why I can’t remember anything, right?” I asked.
“Hmm… Can you at least remember that you were so ill those days,” he asked.
“I don’t remember any details… But I kind of remember that I was so sick…” I replied…
“Well… You were so ill those days, Sarah… There were some times that I thought you were gonna die…” he said, looking at me…
“What? Really? My condition was that bad?” I was so surprised to hear that.
“Yes… You…” when he was about to say something, the door to the study room was opened.
Luke entered the room in a hurry.
As soon as Shane saw Luke, he stood up as he got electrified…
“Sarah… Are you okay?” Luke asked concernedly. His eyes traveled from my face to Shane’s as he spoke.
“Yes, I am fine, Luke…” I said, smiling…
“I was so worried about you… I was looking for you everywhere. Bob told me he saw you two coming here.” Luke said.
“Shane took me here… Don’t worry Luke, I am good… My stomach hurts a bit, other than that nothing wrong…” I said.
“That bit** kicked your belly, right?” Luke sounded so worried.
“Yeah… She kicked me… I punched her face and her lips started to bleed. I think it triggered her…” I said with a grin… Actually, when I recall what happened, it made me laugh… I have seen girls fight in the movies. But I have never seen a live one… Who thought I would involve in such a fight in the first place?
I felt like a totally bada**!!!
“Are you crazy? Why are you laughing? That b***h beat you just like how they did in the past…” Luke was annoyed.
“Yeah she started to beat me, but I didn’t let her just beat me… I gave her the return… So it was not like the past, Luke.” I stated.
Luke didn’t say anything. He shook his head like he doesn’t accept what I said.
Then his eyes shifted to Shane, who was quiet all this time.
“Why you let that bit** hit Sarah? Couldn’t you stop her?” he questioned.
“I didn’t know she was up to something like this, Luke… If I knew I would have stopped her.” Shane quickly replied.
“You knew or not, you are the reason she got into a fight with Sarah… As always, it is you who behind the suffering Sarah has to go through…” Luke shouted at Shane…
Shane didn’t say anything… He was just quietly standing up.
