Chapter 411 – The Regretful Billionaire: An Unpredicted Reunion

The reason he dared not act rashly was that he had not gotten rid of Eustace yet.

With Leonard in the picture, he would be fighting on two fronts.

Even as the head of his family, he could not handle it.

“Does that mean Leonard is rather capable?” Danika asked, her eyebrows raised.

Wondering what she was thinking, Eustace glanced at her but did not pursue the matter.

Instead, he replied, Yes, but unfortunately, he doesn’t have a good background or connections. His current position is probably as far as he can go.”

Ability and talent were not always enough.

Danika asked, “When you told Stephanie to invite Leonard to dinner, it wasn’t just for a meal, was it?”

Eustace, a shrewd businessman, always had a reason for any kindness extended.

“If you already know the answer, why are you asking me?” Eustace didn’t deny it.

He had an agenda when he asked Stephanie to invite Leonard for dinner.

“Then let’s do it tonight.I’ll ask Stephanie to invite him. What do you think?” Danika asked, looking excited.

It garnered Eustace’s suspicion.

With a scrutinizing gaze, he asked, “Do you have a crush on Leonard? Do you like him?”

Rolling her eyes, Danika scoffed and answered, “Please, I just don’t want such an excellent person to go to waste.”She proceeded to eat her food, ignoring Eustace.Eustace lightly chuckled, looking at her affectionately.

“Are you matchmaking Leonard and Stephanie?”

“Don’t you think they are a good match?” She thought Leonard was a nice person, and he looked rather handsome too.

Wasn’t it fate that he was Stephanie’s classmate? Eustace was, after all, a friend of Paul’s.

Hearing her say that, he hesitated for a moment.

“Actually, I think Stephanie still has feelings for Paul. Why don’t you let them figure things out on their own?”

“Paul is a bastard who doesn’t understand how to respect people. He can’t give Stephanie happiness. He only makes her suffer.”

In her opinion, if Stephanie had been interested in Paul, they would have made progress.

However, the last time she saw them, there was clearly no progress, as Stephanie didn’t treat him very well.It was very likely that her friend no longer had feelings for him.

Danika thought it was a good sign as she didn’t think they were a good match in the first place.

Eustace sighed in frustration.

“Actually, Paul is a good person. It’s just that his upbringing since childhood has made him not understand what love is, so he did some things that hurt Stephanie.I believe he has changed now.”

As an old friend of Paul’s, Eustace knew how much Paul liked Stephanie and hoped that Paul could find his own happiness.

Leave It to Me

“You are his friend. Of course, you would speak up for him,” Danika said, glancing at

Eustace.

She didn’t have much of an opinion about Paul, but she felt that he and Stephanie weren’t suitable for each other. Perhaps, as Eustace said, it was because he didn’t know how to love someone due to the environment he grew up in. If that was the case, Paul should learn how to love someone first and then come find Stephanie when he knew how. It made no sense for him to cling to Stephanie before learning how to love.

“It’s normal. You want Stephanie to be happy, and I want Paul to be happy. There’s nothing wrong with that.” Eustace didn’t think he was wrong to help Paul. On the contrary, he thought it would be unbecoming of him not to help Paul.

Danika didn’t comment on that, as she agreed. “Don’t worry. I just want to give the two of them some chance to interact. If Stephanie likes Paul, she won’t like Leonard.”

“Okay,” Eustace nodded, but he didn’t agree.

Even if Stephanie didn’t like Leonard at the moment, there was no guarantee that she wouldn’t change her mind. Nonetheless, it was none of his business. If Stephanie fell in love with Leonard, she wasn’t meant to be with Paul. Eustace, who was not involved in their relationship, couldn’t do anything about it.

After the two had lunch, Eustace took Danika back to the hospital for work.

On the way back, Danika messaged Stephanie, asking her to have dinner with

Leonard. However, Stephanie didn’t have Leonard’s contact information.

Helpless, Danika had to find the contact information herself, and she even wondered if she could get Leonard to join them for dinner. However, she thought that she should be able to get him to join them if she invited him, saying it was on behalf of Stephanie.

Just then, the car stopped at the hospital entrance. “Here we are.”

“Thank you,* Danika said.

When she was about to open the car door to get out, Eustace asked, “Have you asked

Stephanie about it?’

Having noticed that she had been messaging someone the whole journey, he guessed it was Stephanie.

Danika nodded and said, “But she doesn’t have Leonard’s contact information, so I have to invite him myself.”

“Do you have his contact information?’ Eustace asked, frowning and wondering why she would have it instead.

Chuckling, she replied, “I got his contact information from him after I heard he was

Stephanie’s classmate.”

For Stephanie’s happiness, she had put herself out there.

Eustace’s face fell, clearly upset.

“You don’t have to make the appointment. I’ll do it.”

“You?” Danika was surprised, wondering if Eustace would be able to convince Leonard to accept their invitation.

“Go to work. Leave it to me, and you don’t have to worry about it.” It was just Leonard.

Was it too hard for Eustace to make an appointment with him?

Above all, he didn’t want Danika to contact other men, even though he knew that she obtained Leonard’s contact information only for Stephanie’s sake. Seeing his determination, Danika didn’t press him with more questions. She believed that Eustace was capable of doing that.

“Alright, I’m going to head in now. Drive safely,” she said.

“Okay, I’ll pick you up after work.”

After Danika disappeared from view, Eustace started the car and drove to the Quincey Group.

The Quincey Group was not the same as when Eustace had first arrived. Perhaps it was because of Xavier’s death and Luke’s recent arrest, the entire company seemed to be shrouded in gloom, with hardly any smiling faces.

However, all of that had no impact on Eustace. Instead, he was happy to see this result.

After all, the Quincey Group was no longer his, and it wouldn’t affect him much anyway.

Not only would he not take action to solve the problem, but he would also take advantage of the situation to make the Quincey Group suffer more. Only then would

Zeke make the right decision.

Long Time No See

As soon as Danika arrived at the hospital, a nurse hurried over and said, “Dr. Zellweger, you’re finally here.”

“What’s going on?” Danika wondered, following the nurse.

“A patient’s family requested that you perform the surgery,” the nurse informed.

As she spoke, Danika noticed the patient’s family that the nurse was referring to and realized it was an old acquaintance she hadn’t seen in a long time.

It was strange, really. Although she and Christopher lived far apart in Parrington, he had frequently appeared before her. However, now that she was in Bardoff City, she rarely saw him.

“Danika.” Christopher walked toward her. He wore a smile on his face, but it was much more restrained than before, and he seemed a lot more mature.

Danika didn’t know what Christopher had been through since she last met him.

However, given how much he appeared to have matured, she guessed that the

Spades had been through quite a lot.

“Why did you come to the hospital? How is Mr. Spade?* Danika looked at him, having an inkling of what had happened.

She had performed surgery on Harvey before, and she knew how bad his condition was because of that. A tragedy had been avoided because she had shown up in time.

Christopher teared up as he tried to control his emotions. ‘Grandpa…he’s not going to make it.’

“Don’t worry. Let me examine him. There must be a way,’ Danika said.

Although she didn’t know the specifics, she could tell the situation was probably not looking good, given Christopher’s behavior.

Christopher shook his head and stopped Danika from leaving. “There’s no need for that. All the doctors have already checked on him.”

Although Danika was highly proficient in her field, she didn’t think she was better than all the experts and professors in the hospital.
