Plus, everyone around her was getting married. Even Eustace, who she thought would never marry, was getting married. Hence, it was only natural that she had the desire to get married.

Finding her words amusing, Eustace snorted in disdain. “If you want him to marry you, just tell him directly. There’s no need to look for me.”

“That won’t work. Even if I tell him directly, he won’t marry me. He doesn’t even realize the possibility of losing me, so I have to make him aware of that.”

Eustace had once liked her, and that person was aware of it. That’s why she thought that by coming to Eustace, she could get that man to feel threatened.

Unfortunately, Eustace didn’t want to get involved. “I can’t help you. I’m getting married and don’t have the energy to participate in your charade.”

“Eustace-“

“Quinn,” Eustace interrupted her, “just because I was willing to help you before and give you a place to stay doesn’t mean I still like you. I did that because I felt obligated to do so, as were once classmates. Do you understand?”

His words were harsh, leaving Quinn no room for negotiation. It made her feel sad. “Alright, I understand.”

“Perfect. If there’s nothing else, don’t look for me again. If others see us together, they might assume we have some kind of relationship,’ Eustace said, reminding her again.

Although Quinn found his behavior heartless, she also envied Danika. What an amazing person must she be to receive such undivided affection from Eustace?

At 8 pm, Danika’s plane landed at Bardoff Airport. After exiting the airport, she hailed a taxi and headed straight home, wondering what Eustace might be doing at this time. She figured that he was probably working.

Ten minutes later, the car pulled up in front of the villa. Danika looked at the brightly lit living room and couldn’t help but smile. She walked in, not noticing the changes around her as she was eager to see Eustace.

Pushing open Eustace’s bedroom door, a woman emerged from the bathroom, rendering her stunned. Danika stared at the woman, speechless. But soon, she recognized the woman.

“Quinn?” She wasn’t entirely sure, but the woman in front of her bore a striking resemblance to the woman she had seen in the photos before.

Quinn didn’t expect someone to suddenly appear in her room, but she quickly realized what was happening and grinned. “Danika?”

“Why are you in my house?” Danika questioned, her face falling.

She hadn’t thought about Quinn for a long time, thinking she would never appear in her world. Never had she imagined that she would appear in her life in such a fashion!

Danika felt furious, not only toward Quinn but also toward Eustace. How could he? How could he let another woman into their home and his bedroom?

Seeing Danika’s reaction, Quinn figured that Eustace hadn’t informed her in advance, and she found it amusing. “What do you think?”

Quinn’s vague answer only angered Danika more.

“Get out of here!” She pointed at the main door downstairs, not wanting to see her for another second longer.

Unfortunately, Quinn had no intention of leaving. She put on a pitiful expression and said, “Why? Eustace let me live here.”

“He gave you permission?” Danika doubted whether she had misheard. How could Eustace do such a thing?

Quinn nodded. “Of course. How else could I live here?” Without Eustace’s consent, Quinn wouldn’t have been able to get past the door.

Trying to keep calm, she asked, “Where is Eustace?”

“Eustace? He’s probably still busy. He’s always busy, and you know that.”

Quinn deliberately made it sound as if she were quite familiar with Eustace, making Danika feel as if she had been by Eustace’s side all these days.

Danika was about to explode. She could hardly believe Eustace would do such a thing behind her back. She might have never found out if she hadn’t returned early. Perhaps Eustace and Quinn had been in contact for a long time, and she just hadn’t noticed.

She called Eustace, gripping the phone so tightly her fingertips turned pale. The phone rang for a long time before someone answered. Eustace, on the other end, was indeed busy. “Danika? Is the conference over?”

“Eustace! Where are you?” Danika kept her anger in check, not allowing herself to lose control.

Even so, Eustace could still sense Danika’s fury from the other end of the line. However, he didn’t understand why. “I’m at home,” Eustace said. Alas, he was at their new home, which he hadn’t had a chance to tell Danika about yet.

Home? When Danika heard that word, she felt as if Eustace was treating her like a fool. “Really? What a coincidence! I’m here too.”

When Eustace heard that, his mind glitched, but realization quickly dawned on him. He immediately tried to explain, “Danika, let me explain-‘

“Oh, you have a lot of explaining to do,” Danika cut him off and immediately hung up.

Leave?

Ten minutes later, Eustace’s car pulled up at the villa. As he walked into the living room and saw two women sitting on opposite sides of the sofa, a migraine began to form in his head.

“Danika, why did you come back today?” Eustace approached Danika cautiously, asking with concern. If he had known that Danika was coming back today, he would have been waiting for her at the airport and taken her to their new house, avoiding this encounter with Quinn.

Having no clue of his plans, Danika’s face instantly darkened. “If I hadn’t come back today, would I have discovered what you were doing behind my back?”

“Danika, it’s a misunderstanding. I wanted to give you a surprise…” Eustace tried to explain.

“A surprise? It’s quite surprising indeed.” Danika laughed coldly, glancing at Quinn.

Quinn ignored their conversation and played with her phone. “Miss Zellweger, you’ve misunderstood. Eustace hasn’t done anything to hurt you. Although he gave me this house to live in, he-‘

“You shut up!” Eustace yelled, feeling the urge to hit someone.

Quinn pursed her lips, but she didn’t take Eustace’s scolding to heart.

Eustace turned his gaze to Danika. “Danika, let’s leave this place.”

“Leave? Why should we leave?” Danika couldn’t believe it. Eustace wanted her to leave!

Seeing that she had misunderstood him again, Eustace quickly explained, “I moved our home to another place, so I let her live here. It’s not what you’re thinking.”

When Danika frowned, Eustace continued, “This house was originally bought for you to take care of Evan. It’s not convenient for both of us to commute to work from here, and I wanted to move to a new house for a while. Since we’re getting married, I’ve prepared a new house as a surprise for you when you return. I didn’t expect…”

He hadn’t expected Danika to return so early, catching him off guard.

With Eustace’s explanation, Danika understood and believed him to some extent, but she still felt uneasy. “Even if we’re moving out, this place shouldn’t be given to her.”

She knew the relationship between Quinn and Eustace.

Before Eustace could explain, Quinn said, “Miss Zellweger, rest assured, I have no intention of ruining your relationship with Eustace. I had just arrived in Bardoff City and had nowhere to stay. Eustace felt sorry for me, so he let me stay here. Don’t worry, he loves you.”

Although Quinn’s remarks were casual, they made Danika furious. Danika wondered if she had asked for her opinion.

Eustace led Danika out of the villa, stuffed her into the passenger seat, and drove away quickly. On the way to their new home, Eustace explained to Danika about Quinn coming to see him, emphasizing, “Danika, I have no feelings for her anymore.”

“Who knows?” Danika snorted coldly, looking out the car window. Although she believed Eustace’s explanation to some extent, she wondered if it made sense for him to go to such lengths for someone he had no feelings for.

“Danika, please believe me. I allowed her to live there, thinking that we were moving out anyway and won’t be staying there. I didn’t have an ulterior motive.”

He wouldn’t have let Quinn stay here if he had had other motives.

Danika snorted again. Eustace wanted to cry. He finally realized that Danika could get jealous too.

The car quickly arrived at their new home, which had been newly renovated and adorned with decorations, giving off a newlywed vibe. When Danika got out of the car and looked at the house in front of her, she started believing Eustace more. However, she was still unhappy.

As Eustace led her into the house, she realized the interior design was identical to their previous home, ensuring that everything felt familiar.

“Danika, look, I didn’t lie to you,” Eustace said, looking sad.

Danika looked around and then sat on the sofa lost in thought. Although she believed Eustace, she still felt uneasy. ‘Why did Quinn suddenly come to see you? Doesn’t she know anyone else?”

“I…I don’t think so.” Eustace didn’t think much about it. He simply thought it wouldn’t hurt to give her a place to stay.

“Are you sure she’s telling you the truth and not trying to deceive you?” Danika couldn’t fully trust Quinn. According to Quinn, she came to Bardoff City to seek refuge with Eustace because she wanted to force the man who had been following her to marry her. But what if that wasn’t the case? What if she came for Eustace?

Eustace seemed to understand what she was thinking and immediately said,” Danika, trust me, you’re the only one in my heart. No matter what Quinn’s intentions are, I won’t let her succeed.”

Danika sighed, realizing that although Eustace was at fault in this situation, it wasn’t as bad as she initially thought. Hence, she wasn’t as angry anymore. “Well, it’s best for you to keep your distance from her. Even if we do get married, divorce is not impossible.’

She had finally made up her mind to marry Eustace and truly didn’t want any accidents or unpleasant surprises. If Eustace did something that made her unhappy, she might not give him another chance.

Eustace could tell that Danika was serious, and he nodded earnestly. “Don’t worry, I understand.”

“Great, it’s good that you do.” Danika didn’t pursue the topic. “I want to take a shower. I’m tired.”

“Okay, I’ll take you there,” Eustace said, paying utmost attention to her, afraid that Danika hadn’t calmed down yet. He led Danika into the master bedroom and watched her enter the bathroom before he heaved a sigh of relief. It seemed like she wasn’t angry anymore.

It was just his bad luck. He hadn’t expected Danika to come back early. He had tried to surprise her, but he never thought that she would also try to surprise him. It almost backfired.

After showering and coming out of the bathroom, Danika found that Eustace wasn’t in the bedroom. She looked at the wedding decorations that adorned the bed, wondering if it was necessary as their wedding day had yet to arrive. Nonetheless, she had no energy to do anything about it, so she lay down to rest.

An hour later, Eustace knocked on the bedroom door. “Danika, had enough rest? Let’s go downstairs for dinner.”

“Okay,” Danika replied groggily. She hadn’t fallen asleep; she had just dozed off for a while.

They went downstairs to the dining room, where Eustace had prepared a meal. Apart from the wedding portraits, the place was not much different from their previous villa.

“What are you going to do about Quinn?” Danika brought up Quinn again during their meal.

Eustace’s hand paused as he was about to pick up food, seemingly not understanding why she was asking that. ‘What do you mean? I have nothing to do with her.”

“She came to you for help, right? Are you going to help her?” Danika didn’t understand Quinn’s thoughts. She came to Eustace for help, claiming she wanted to force the man who had been following her to marry her. What was that all about? Did she want to make that man jealous?

Danika couldn’t figure it out, so she decided not to dwell on it

Eustace thought that her question was absolutely unnecessary. Besides, he never intended to help Quinn. “Why should I help her? I’m already being kind enough to her by giving her a place to stay.’

If he’d known that he would very nearly get into an argument with Danika because of this, he wouldn’t have let her stay there at all.
