“If you need my help, you can call me.I don’t have any other intentions.I just think—“
“I don’t need it!”
Marigold cut him off.She merely thought that Gilbert was hilarious.
Even if she needed help, she wouldn’t go to him for it.
Didn’t he know that all this was his doing? Gilbert murmured in response and got into his car, disappearing from her sight.
Marigold heaved a sigh of relief, seeing him go.
Thank God he’d done nothing.
Otherwise, she’d fight him.
But was he really passing by, or did he come here on purpose? Marigold considered it for a while but then smiled.
Why was she thinking about all that? Why did it matter if he was passing through the neighborhood or came here on purpose? They were destined to be worlds apart.
At that thought, Marigold caressed her belly and murmured, * Once you come out, baby, I’ll bring you out of this place. We’ll go to a place where no one knows us and start a new life.”
She’d considered moving out, but her body didn’t allow her to.
Once her headaches acted up, she couldn’t do anything. She was worried that she would collapse in a foreign world where no one knew her.
Hence, she chose to stay and leave only after the baby was born.Once Danika treated her headaches, Marigold would take the baby and leave.
Your Grandson’s Not Too Bad
In Parrington, Danika and Eustace walked out of the airport and sat in Warren’s car.
“Hello, Mr.and Mrs.Quincey,” Warren said, smiling.
Danika was stunned.
This manner of greeting her seemed familiar yet foreign.
“We’re not married yet, Warren. You can just call me Danika.”
“You were always Mrs.Quincey.But something happened before, and now you’re back on track.Of course, I’d call you Mrs.Quincey.”
Warren was happy. He witnessed Eustace and Danika coming together.
Even though they hadn’t married yet, it didn’t matter to him.Even before, when Eustace and Danika started dating, Warren had the same thoughts in mind.
Danika wanted to speak, but Eustace spoke first.
“Warren is right. You’re destined to be Mrs.Quincey.It’s not wrong of him to call you that.”
Since Eustace was standing on Warren’s side, Danika had no other choice.
“Alright.Whatever you say.”
Since she and Eustace were definitely going to marry, there was no need to care so much about greetings. They reached the Old Mansion quickly.
Old Mr.Quincey was in the living room waiting for them. He’d looked out of the window quite a few times already.
Finally, the car drove in.He smiled at once.
“They’re finally here.”
Eustace and Danika got down from the car and walked straight toward him.
“Grandpa.”
“You’re back, Danika.”
Old Mr.Quincey looked at Danika, already thinking of her as his granddaughter.
Danika walked up to him and held his arm, smiling.
“We’re back to see you again. You don’t think we’re a bother, do you?”
“Of course not.I’d love to have you and Eustace by my side always.”
But he knew that it was impossible.
Eustace was already grown up and no longer needed his protection.
The only thing that Old Mr.Quincey could do now was try not to be a bother.
“Don’t worry.Eustace and I will come to see you often. Why don’t you come to Bardoff City with us?”
Danika felt that Bardoff City would be a better place for him to be in.
That way, she and Eustace would be able to take care of him.But Old Mr.Quincey shook his head and got Danika to sit next to him.
“Bardoff City is nice, but it isn’t suitable for an old man like me.Parrington is better.I’ve already lived here for a few decades, and I’m used to it.”
On top of that, he had old friends here.If he was bored, he could talk to them.If he went to Bardoff City, he would have nothing to do besides sit in the house all day.
Danika didn’t force it on him.
Eustace had already told her this before, so she wasn’t surprised.
“Alright.Eustace and I will respect your wishes. You can go if you want, and you don’t have to if you don’t want.Eustace and I will come back to see you.”
“Good girl.”
Old Mr.Quincey was very happy.
The three of them sat down.
Warren went into the kitchen to check on their progress.
“You brat.At least you haven’t disappointed me this time.”
Old Mr.Quincey looked at Eustace. He was extremely satisfied.
Eustace smiled.
“Of course.Your grandson’s not too bad.”
Old Mr.Quincey rolled his eyes at him and said angrily, “That sounds nice, but I won’t forget the person who refused to get together with Danika the first time.”
“That was so long ago, Grandpa. Why are you still talking about that?”
Eustace felt that it was a black mark in his past.
Old Mr.Quincey chuckled.
“Of course, I have to.This is to make you cherish her.Otherwise, you’ll regret it after you lose her.”
“I know.I’ll cherish her this time.”
Eustace didn’t need his reminder to do that.
He Shouldn’t Stay By That Kid’s Side
Danika couldn’t help wanting to laugh when she saw Old Mr.Quincey disciplining Eustace.
“Don’t worry, Grandpa. If he fails to cherish me again, I won’t give him any more chances.”This was Eustace’s last chance.
“Danika…”
Eustace smiled bitterly.
Why did everyone think he would be bad to her? He’d finally pursued her after so many hardships. Now they were about to marry. Why wouldn’t he cherish her? In fact, he wanted to tie her up in his room and lock her up forever.
“Alright, alright. You can go to the kitchen to see how things are going.I’ll talk with Danika.”
Old Mr.Quincey waved his hands, shooing Eustace off to the kitchen.
Eustace had no choice but to go to the kitchen.
Before that, he cast an uneasy glance at the old man.
“Don’t you dare say anything stupid to Danika, Grandpa.”
He didn’t want Old Mr.Quincey to keep talking about his terrible history.
What if Danika suddenly regretted things? “Oh, go and make yourself busy.”
Old Mr.Quincey ignored him.He brought up all those things so that Eustace would know to cherish Danika.
Eustace went to the kitchen, leaving Danika and Old Mr.Quincey in the living room.
“Danika, I’m really happy to see you two getting together.” He looked at Danika, his smile sincere.
