Danika looked at Gilbert pitifully, only to have Gilbert frown back at her.

He knew why Danika wanted to go there.

He deduced that Eustace was probably there.

“You just woke up.It’s not good for you to get out of bed and walk around. You should rest more.”

Gilbert refused her outrightly.

Danika was about to say something, but Gilbert interrupted her, “Eustace’s situation is very stable, so there shouldn’t be any problems. What you need to do now is to get better as soon as possible.”

Soup for Me

No one was willing to take Danika to see Eustace.

As she was still physically very weak, she could only give up.

“Gilbert, can you help me look up that dead driver? I don’t think it was just an accident.”

She didn’t believe that things could happen so coincidentally.

Even if it really was an accident, she had to look into it herself and dispel any suspicious points.

Gilbert didn’t refuse.

“Okay, I’ll look into it for you.But promise me you’ll take care of yourself and not do anything reckless.”

“Don’t worry, I know.”

Danika nodded.

With her current condition, she could barely even get out of bed, let alone leave the ward.

Gilbert and Zack stayed in the ward with Danika for half an hour before leaving the hospital, leaving only Stephanie to take care of her.

In the evening, Graham and Lynette came to visit.

In the past two days, there had been various rumors about Danika and Eustace’s accident among the Quincey and Zellweger family members.

As a result, Graham had to spend more time dealing with company matters.

He even had to find a way to keep the Quincey family running until Eustace was back in action.

Fortunately, Eustace had taken good care of his family business.

Even though he had an accident, the Quinceys didn’t immediately fall into chaos.

“Danika, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

Lynette looked at her pale face with reddened eyes, feeling extremely concerned.

Danika shook her head.

“I’m fine, really.”

“Fine?”

With her weak voice, it was hard to believe her words.

Lynette turned her head, apparently unable to hold back her tears.

Graham sat next to her, feeling guilty.

“It’s my fault for not protecting you well as your father.”

“Dad, I’m not a child.I don’t need your protection.”

Given the situation back then, even if Graham had been with her, what could he do? Although she said that to console him, Graham was still very upset, so he decided to stay and look after Danika.

He couldn’t let anything else happen to her.

“Mr.Zellweger, Madam Bell, you should go back and rest.I’ll stay here and take care of Danika.I’m sure nothing will happen with me here,”

Stephanie persuaded them.

Graham looked at Stephanie gratefully.

“Steph, you’re a good kid.I know you’ll take care of my Danika, but we’re her parents. It’s our responsibility to stay and take care of her.You should go back and rest instead.”

The two of them kept pushing back and forth for some time, but they couldn’t come to a conclusion as to who should stay.

Seeing how each party kept insisting that they should be the ones to stay, Danika spoke up.

“Dad, you guys go back first.Let Steph take care of me.”

Both her parents were not young anymore.

If they were to take care of her in the hospital for the whole night, their bodies might not be able to take it.

If they were to collapse, she would be worried about them instead.

Danika was very firm about it, so Graham and Lynette looked at each other helplessly and nodded.

“Alright, we’ll come see you again tomorrow.”

“Okay.”

Danika nodded slightly.

As they were leaving, Lynette handed over the soup she’d brought.

“Here’s some soup I made for you.Do have some.”

“Okay, thank you.”

Danika didn’t refuse Lynette’s kindness.

She knew that her mother wanted to make up for the years of being absent from her daughter’s life.

Danika didn’t mind.

If this could make her feel better, why should she refuse? And so, Lynette put the soup on Danika’s bedside table and left the ward with Graham.

The ward soon quieted down.

Stephanie took the thermos bottle that Lynette had placed by the bed and opened it.

The fragrance of the soup immediately wafted out.

“It smells so good.”

“Ahem! The doctor said you still can’t eat anything, so I’ll take care of this for you,”

Stephanie said unabashedly, as she was getting hungry.

As If!

Danika didn’t mind her antics; she was worried about Eustace.

Stephanie drank the soup and casually commented, “It looks like your mom is doing her best to treat you well. She’s trying her best to make up for the lost time with you.”

“I don’t need her to make it up to me.” Danika shook her head and continued, “I don’t need her to feel like she owes me anything.”

“That’s how you think, but she may not think that way,” Stephanie replied casually, savoring the soup and relishing the taste on her tongue.

Danika rolled her eyes at Stephanie. ‘Is it good?”

“It’s delicious!” Stephanie nodded and asked, “Do you want a sip?”

“No, thanks.” Danika shook her head. As a doctor, she knew better than anyone to follow medical advice.

Stephanie had another serving before putting the thermos back where it had been. “So, what do you want me to help you with?”

Although Danika hadn’t said anything yet, Stephanie could tell she wanted her to help with something.

Danika smiled at her. ‘Can you help me find a wheelchair and take me to see Eustace?”

“I knew it!” Stephanie rolled her eyes at her. She could already guess Danika’s intention before she even asked.

“Cut the nonsense. Will you help or not?” Danika wasn’t shy with Stephanie in the slightest; in fact, she was quite bossy. Given their solid friendship, Danika was sure Stephanie wouldn’t refuse.

Stephanie looked at her for a moment and finally nodded helplessly. “Okay, I’ll go now.”

“That’s more like it. Who else can I rely on if not my best friend?’ Danika smiled, feeling much better now that she knew she could go and see Eustace.

Stephanie didn’t say anything; she just rolled her eyes at Danika once more. She left the ward and came back with a wheelchair. “Let’s go. I’ll take you to see him.”

She understood Danika well. If she couldn’t see Eustace, she probably wouldn’t be able to rest. Since that was the case, she might as well take her to see him so that she could get some actual rest later.
