Chapter 530 – The Regretful Billionaire: An Unpredicted Reunion

The way she doubted him made Eustace very unhappy. The next second, he hugged her and kissed her without hesitation. “Danika, you’re jealous, aren’t you?”

“Stop talking nonsense. I’m not jealous.” She harrumphed lightly and pushed Eustace away.

While the couple were eating, trouble was brewing at Zellweger Castle.

Eric put on the clothes of a bodyguard and walked into Zellweger Castle confidently. The residence had more bodyguards these days, so no one noticed his arrival. He didn’t actually plan to take Lynette away that day, as he understood clearly that he probably wouldn’t have a chance to do so with his current ability.

Nevertheless, that didn’t matter. Since he couldn’t take her away, he would make sure she stayed there forever-even if it was in the form of a corpse.

Eric sneered to himself wordlessly, “Do you think you can divorce me, Lynette? Dream on!”

He would make sure that even if Lynette died, she would die as his wife. He wouldn’t allow her to have her happy ever after with Graham.

With that, Eric walked into the living room, finally attracting the attention of the people in Zellweger Castle.

“Who let you in? Get out!” The maid in the living room saw Eric and scolded him. After all, the bodyguards outside weren’t allowed to enter that area.

However, Eric ignored her and pulled out his gun, pointing it right at the maid. “Where’s Lynette?”

The maid was scared out of her wits. She timidly pointed upstairs to a room. Eric went straight upstairs and kicked open the door of the room. However, instead of Lynette, he was greeted by a row of guns neatly lined up.

Leonard and his men had been waiting there for several days, and they finally caught Eric. No matter what, Leonard wouldn’t let him escape. As Eric was about to fire his gun, Leonard beat him to it and made his move first.

Eric was hit, but instead of feeling pain, he felt dizzy. He lost control of his limbs and fell to the ground. Before his eyes closed, he saw Lynette walk out of another room, shielded by Graham.

He clearly saw the expression on Lynette’s face at the moment-there was not a trace of concern for him, no extra emotions, and only a subtle sense of relief.

“She must be glad that I’m finally caught, huh? That’s right. She hates me so much, so she must be elated at my capture. She’ll probably celebrate with Graham later…” Eric thought.

Before Eric completely passed out, he was still unwilling to admit defeat, but he no longer had the chance to do anything about it.

Forget I Said Anything

Lynette watched as Eric fell unconscious, feeling a flurry of emotions. “Is he…dead?” she asked apprehensively.

“No, he’s just passed out from the tranquilizer gun we just used. Danika says that someone like him needs to face the full consequences of his actions through the legal system. He shouldn’t be granted a quick and easy death,” Leonard replied before ordering Eric to be taken away.

Before leaving, Leonard turned back to Lynette and said, “You can rest assured that you won’t see Eric again in your lifetime unless something unexpected happens.”

Lynette was stunned, tears blurring her vision as she watched Leonard’s figure draw further away. She was unable to utter even a single word.

Graham approached her and pulled her into his arms, comforting her with a soft voice, “Nettie, it’s all over now. From now on, you can live the life you want.”

“Is it really over?” Lynette asked, still somewhat dazed.

Eric, that arrogant Eric…Was he really caught for good and would never be able to torment her again?

Graham nodded firmly. “Yes, it’s all over.”

Looking slightly worried at her pale complexion, Graham added, “Nettie, don’t think about it anymore. Go get some rest.”

Lynette shook her head. “I’m not tired. Since it’s all over, I want to go out and take a look.”

“Okay, I’ll accompany you,” Graham agreed.

Lynette hadn’t left Zellweger Castle for the past few days, mainly because

Danika was worried about her safety outside and had instructed them to stay home. Now that Eric had been captured and there was no longer any danger, they could go out at will.

When Danika and Eustace rushed back and learned that they’d already gone out, they were somewhat helpless.

“Well, at least it’s better than constantly being stuck in the past,” Danika expressed. She’d rescued Lynette so that she could be free and not be sad and miserable for the rest of her life.

“Do you have confidence in dealing with Eric?” Eustace asked, hoping to help Danika in some way.

However, Danika clearly didn’t need any help. “Don’t worry. I’ve already arranged everything. Eric will never appear before anyone again.”

Even if they didn’t bring up the incident where Eric brought armed men to storm Zellweger Castle, his previous crimes of having murdered many people were enough to have him executed countless times.

This time, he was utterly doomed.

“My dear Danika, you’re so capable. You make me feel like I’m somewhat useless.” Sometimes, he wished that Danika would rely on him more.

Danika rolled her eyes at him and retorted, “If you like someone gentle and weak, Faye fits your requirements. You should go find her.”

Eustace was instantly rendered speechless.

“Forget I said anything.” Eustace covered his mouth to show that he would keep quiet and not speak carelessly again.

Seeing that, Danika stopped teasing him. She’d always been tough and wouldn’t change just because she was with Eustace. Eustace should have known this by now.

Graham and Lynette returned from a walk around the streets of Bardoff City and saw Danika and Eustace with smiles on their faces in the living room.

“Danika, Eric has been caught,” Graham said excitedly to her.

Danika nodded. She’d rushed back because she heard about the good news earlier. “You can rest assured now. No one will stop you from being together anymore.” “Thank you, Danika.” Lynette looked at Danika. Although she was still very unfamiliar with this daughter of hers, at that moment, she was glad that she’d chosen to give birth to her.

Perhaps You’re Right

While sitting in the car, Danika looked out the window. Lynette’s “thank you” reverberated in her mind. For some reason, there seemed to be a boulder pressing on her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.

Eustace was driving, but he could sense the gloomy air around Danika.

“Danika, are you thinking about Lynette?” he asked.

“Yeah, I’m thinking that she wasn’t really in the wrong back then. She hasn’t exactly led a good life for the past few years, and she’s suffered even more than me. But I still won’t acknowledge her as my mother. Do you think I’m being unreasonable?”

She’d been pondering this question since they left Zellweger Castle, but she still hadn’t come up with an answer.

Eustace slowed down the car and said, “You don’t need to put so much pressure on yourself. I believe that Lynette can understand your inner conflict. It’s okay if you can’t address her as your mom out loud right now. You’ll have more time to spend together, and I believe that as long as Lynette treats you well enough, you’ll willingly call her ‘mom’ one day.”

Eustace’s words made sense to Danika, but she still felt a sense of anguish in her heart. “I know what you mean. I just feel like she wasn’t really in the wrong.”

“That’s true. She isn’t in the wrong, but neither are you. So, you don’t need to carry such a heavy burden. Just listen to your heart,” Eustace advised, not wanting Danika to feel unhappy.

Danika sighed and rubbed her temples. “Maybe you’re right. I’m just thinking too much.”

Perhaps after spending some time with Lynette, she would be ready to call her “mom” just like how she called Graham “dad.” She just needed a bit more time to reach that point.

“Let’s go to the street food park. Isn’t that where you like to buy your snacks from?” Eustace asked.

Danika glanced at him and asked, “Don’t you dislike those places?”

“I used to, but now I don’t think there’s anything wrong with them. I’d like to experience the hustle and bustle of the world once in a while,” he replied. Most importantly, since Danika liked to go there, he would naturally like it too.

“Sure, let’s go. I’m actually craving some of the food there.” She couldn’t remember the last time she’d eaten street food.

Eustace turned the car around and drove toward the street food park. As the weather gradually warmed up, more and more people went out shopping. At this hour, the park was packed with people and was bustling with activity.

Danika soon forgot her troubles, and under Eustace’s protection, she walked into the crowd, heading toward her favorite snack stall. She felt alive again when she felt the crowd pushing against her.

Soon, Danika bought some hot dogs that were very savory and satisfying.” Do you want to try some?” she asked.

“Sure.” Eustace nodded, and Danika immediately fed him a bit of the hot dog.

At the moment, Eustace was dressed in a black suit, and Danika was also dressed immaculately. They stood out from the crowd and attracted a lot of attention. Someone secretly took a photo and posted it online with the caption: “This is probably what they call a perfect match!”

At first, not many people paid attention to the photo, as there were so many other things worth paying attention to on the Internet. The Internet had no shortage of beautiful women and handsome men. But as someone revealed the identities of the two, the photo instantly gained more traction.

As Danika and Eustace were still strolling leisurely in the street food park, their photo became viral on the Internet. Although they weren’t celebrities, their popularity rivaled even the hottest celebrities in the country.

However, Danika and Eustace were unaware of all this. They strolled until late at night, eating and drinking their fill, and only left the street food park after they were satiated.

Eustace’s phone rang just as they stepped into the villa-it was a call from Vincent. Eustace was surprised but still answered the phone without hesitation and asked, “What’s up?”

Stop Right There

After Eustace ended the call, he quickly went to check out what Vincent had said was blowing up on the Internet. When he saw the photo, he couldn’t help but laugh.

When Danika saw him laughing, she was puzzled and asked, “What’s so funny?”

“Check it out online yourself.’ Eustace didn’t tell her. He thought it would be more interesting for Danika to discover it herself.

Danika didn’t hesitate and quickly did as he suggested. Soon, she found out what Eustace was laughing about. She saw the photo and thought it was quite beautiful. She immediately tapped on the “Save” button without hesitation; it was like she did it out of instinct.

“That was a nice photo.” Danika put away her phone and expressed her opinion on the matter.

Eustace walked over and sat next to her. He asked, “Vincent called just now and asked if I wanted to retract it. What do you think?”

“It’s up to you. I don’t care.” They were already boyfriend and girlfriend. In addition, the news about them wasn’t slanderous in any way, so Danika didn’t really mind.

Eustace smiled when he heard her say that, knowing what she meant. “Then we’ll just let it be.”

As a result, their photo circulated around the Internet for the whole night until the next morning before it was replaced by newer, more pressing news. The attention it received decreased significantly by then.

Danika didn’t pay attention to these things but noticed that many people were looking at her when she went to the hospital.

When Pete came to find Danika, she’d just finished seeing the last patient. After the patient left, she looked up and noticed Pete standing next to her. Glancing at him, she commented, “You don’t seem to be doing well.”
