“Hmph! If you’re reliable, I would have long had a great-grandchild.” Old Mr. Quincey snorted, greatly displeased.

Eustace pursed his lips as he was speechless.

“You divorced Danika because of Faye back then. If you break up with Danika because of her again, I’ll think of a way to end her even if I can’t end you.’ He had not gotten his hands dirty for many years, but he would not mind getting rid of someone again for his grandson’s happiness.

Eustace quickly stepped forward to comfort him when he heard that. ‘Don’t worry, Grandpa. I really don’t have any feelings for her. Besides, who said I divorced Danika because of Faye? I divorced her then because I had no feelings for her.” He had not even met Danika at that time. He had been considering getting a divorce since the day he got married. It had nothing to do with Faye.

Unfortunately, Old Mr. Quincey did not believe what he said at all.

Who would leave such a great wife at home and not visit her at all if he did not fancy another woman?

Who would believe that?

Fate Had Made a Fool of Them

Old Mr. Quincey sneered a few times. He finally let Eustace go after warning him once again.

When Eustace came downstairs, Danika was lying on the couch in the living room while tapping away on the phone. She was most probably chatting with someone as she was smiling.

“What are you talking about?” Eustace walked over and stood behind her.

Danika did not hide from him. While sending the message, she replied, “I’m discussing with Steph and Jade what kind of bridesmaid dresses to choose. We want something that looks good without stealing the bride’s thunder.”

“Any results? Let me have a look.” Eustace smiled and shook his head. He was thinking that women had plenty of choices, unlike men, who did not even need to choose. A black suit for all would do the job.

Danika put her phone in front of Eustace. “What do you think of this?”

Eustace took a closer look at it. It was a long, green dress that might not be flattering on everybody. However, he glanced at Danika’s figure and complexion and felt that she would probably look good in it.

“It works. It’s not too outstanding, but it’s not ugly either.” After all, Danika was not the star of the show. Eustace figured that what they had in mind was probably something basic.

Danika nodded in agreement as well when she heard him saying that.” That’s right. It’s this kind of ordinary dress that would be more suitable.”

Jade said she did not mind whatever they wore, but Danika felt that Jade should be the prettiest one on her wedding day. Being Jade’s bridesmaids, Danika and Stephanie should just play their part as the perfect foil to Jade.

“What did Grandpa say to you?” Danika asked Eustace after she put her phone away.

Eustace was helpless at the mention of that. He sat down next to Danika. “What else could it be? He’s just giving me a warning to keep my distance from Faye. He’s probably afraid that you and I will be separated again.”

“You deserved that for treating me that way back then.” Danika snorted indignantly. She didn’t think anything was wrong with Old Mr. Quincey’s warning to Eustace. If she was in his shoes, she would also feel that Eustace had feelings for Faye.

Of course, that was the past. As for the current moment, she still had to observe the situation.

Eustace looked at Danika seriously. “Could it be that you also think it was because of Faye that I divorced you back then?”

“I had to admit that I indeed thought that way when we got a divorce.” Danika didn’t deny it either.

Eustace had a headache. He continued, “It was because I was unhappy that Grandpa had arranged our marriage that I wanted to divorce you back then. That was why I was thinking of getting a divorce. I hadn’t considered that there’s a possibility I would fall in love with you.”

If he had known he would fall in love with Danika, he would not have taken the unnecessary step and divorced her.

“I get it.” Danika nodded. “But I was actually having quite a good time back then.”

Eustace did not return, but she enjoyed her time as Mrs. Quincey. On top of that, she had Old Mr. Quincey’s support, so she was living her life freely.

“That’s right. I heard you enjoyed food and drinks every day at the mansion and lived a free and easy life.” Danika probably had never thought of falling for him back then.

Therefore, in the two years he didn’t meet Danika at the mansion, she also had never gone to the company to look for him.

In other words, their feelings were mutual. None of them loved the other.

However, Danika could continue to make do with her situation, but Eustace could not bring himself to do it back then. All he had in mind was to get a divorce. That was because he was still fantasizing about meeting his true love.

Nobody expected that the one that got away was his true love.

“Enough about that. It’s all in the past now.” Danika could not help but want to laugh. She waved as she felt it was embarrassing to talk about all that. In a nutshell, fate had made a fool of them!

For Your Sake

When Danika woke up the following day, Eustace had already made breakfast, and Old Mr. Quincey was also sitting at the dining table. They seemed to be waiting for her.

Danika felt a little embarrassed, so she quickly went to the dining room downstairs. “I’m sorry, Grandpa. I overslept.”

“It’s fine. It’s still early. I’m up early because of my age. Don’t compare yourself to me,” Old Mr. Quincey said with a smile, inviting her over for breakfast.

Danika sat down at the table and then looked at Eustace. “What time did you wake up to make breakfast?”

“Not that early. Warren was the one who got most of it.” He only woke up to make the pancakes.

“Thanks for your hard work.’ Danika smiled at him, feeling a little apologetic.

Eustace felt happy when he heard her saying that. “Making breakfast for you is not hard work for me at all.’

If Danika wanted it, he could make breakfast for her for the rest of her life.

“Ahem!” Old Mr. Quincey cleared his throat. “I’m still here.”

How had he never noticed that his grandson was so cheesy? Danika was the only person who could stand it. If he were in her shoes, he really would not be able to accept it.

Eustace did not say anything else anymore. Danika covered her face as she smiled and remained silent.

The three of them had breakfast in silence. Then, Danika and Eustace left the Old Mansion to make the drive to Orchid Village.

They didn’t have much time for their visit this time round. Eustace had plenty of things to handle for Jade would get married that weekend, so Danika had to return earlier to see if she needed any help.

Danika didn’t notify David’s family beforehand about their trip to Orchid Village this time. It was mainly because she didn’t want to argue with Hannah and Felicity. She wanted to secretly head over and also leave in secret after visiting her grandfather’s grave.

When David walked past his father’s grave later, he saw the flowers and candles Danika had left behind. He then figured that she had come by.

However, he didn’t blame Danika for not paying his family a visit. After all, if she really had gone over, Hannah might stir up some trouble again. Danika had probably thought of that as well, which was why she did not visit his family.

He sighed and walked toward the field nearby to start working for the day.

After Danika and Eustace returned from Orchid Village, they stayed at Parrington for three more days before leaving.

As Old Mr. Quincey watched Eustace and Danika walk into the distance at the Parrington Airport, he could not help but sigh. “I don’t even know when they will be returning next time.”

A home would only be lively when there were a few more people in it. With Danika and Eustace gone, only a few maids would be left at the Old Mansion, so Old Mr. Quincey felt lonely.

“Mr. Eustace cares for you so much, so he certainly would come back often to visit you,” Warren replied. Then, he added, “Besides, Bardoff City is not far from here. If you miss them, we can fly over to see them.”

“You’re right.” Old Mr. Quincey nodded, breaking his gaze into the distance.” Let’s go. We should go home.”

When Warren wheeled Old Mr. Quincey into the car, Eustace and Danika had boarded the plane as well.

Eustace was probably truly occupied. His phone had not stopped ringing. He just kept getting calls from others.

When Danika saw him like that, she knew he would be working day and night again for a few days after he returned. She could not help but feel a little sorry for him. “Do you have a lot of things to take care of in the Quincey Group?”

“Mmhmm. After all, it hasn’t been that long since I’ve taken over, so there are many people making trouble behind my back,” Eustace replied, but he was staring at the laptop in front of him and tapping away on the keyboard.

Danika sighed and said, “Still, you need to take more breaks.”

“I know.” Eustace closed his laptop. “Don’t worry. I’ll definitely take care of my health, even if it’s for the sake of spending more time with you.”

He was not willing to part with Danika early because of his health. He didn’t care about all these in the past, but he could no longer ignore them at that moment.

You Started It

Soon, the plane took off and headed toward Bardoff City. Danika felt sleepy as soon as she boarded the plane, so she fell asleep on Eustace’s shoulders very quickly.

Eustace waved to a stewardess, requesting a blanket. Then, he put the blanket on Danika gently. The gentleness in his eyes was almost spilling over. The stewardess standing at the side was extremely envious when she saw it.

She could not help but ask softly, “Sir, is she your wife?’

“Not yet. She’s my girlfriend,” Eustace replied without thinking too much about it. His gaze was fixed on Danika the whole time.

It was inevitable that the stewardess would think she still had a chance when she heard that Danika was only his girlfriend.

In this day in age, even a married couple could get divorced, let alone a couple that had yet to get married. They might be madly in love at that moment, but who could tell how long they could stay together?

Thinking of that, the stewardess plucked up the courage to ask, ‘Sir, may I have your contact? I can immediately contact you when our company has any promotions later.”

It was only then did Eustace notice something was not quite right. He looked up at the stewardess standing across from him.

When she saw him looking at her, she immediately tucked the loose strands of hair behind her ear and smiled a little flirtatiously.

“No need for that.” Eustace looked away very quickly. He just wanted to see what kind of woman would be so unobservant. Did she not see that Danika was by his side? How dare she hit on him.

The stewardess was stunned. She was a little surprised as that was the first time someone turned her down.

The man in front of her was young and handsome. Given that he could afford to fly first-class, he must be loaded as well. However, the people she usually served were also wealthy. Therefore, it was inevitable that she found herself in an awkward situation.

“Please don’t misunderstand-‘

“Can you shut up? Didn’t you see that my girlfriend’s resting?” Eustace’s tone became unpleasant. If he were not afraid that he might disturb Danika, he might have raised his voice when scolding the stewardess.

The stewardess’s face turned pale in disbelief.
