“Azure didn’t notice anything, huh?” Noah asked.

“No,” replied Alex. “Lucas was quick–witted enough to send Azure to look for a first aid kit and bought me some time.”

River walked into the room and asked Liora, who was lying in Noah’s arms, “Why are you up?”

Noah explained, “He barged into the room and startled Lia. It’s fortunate that she is very sleepy.”

River turned to Noah, her eyes burning with rage.

Meanwhile, Noah swiftly dialed Julian’s number.

Julian answered promptly, and Noah commanded sinisterly, “Tell Blake to bring Daniella to Bayview Villa.”

“Yes, sir!” Julian responded.

Turning to River, Noah declared, “I leave her to your discretion. After all, she is of no use to us now.”

River gnashed her teeth in hatred.

Her suspicion about Daniella being the source of evil was correct.

Unable to contain her emotions, she confronted Noah, “Why won’t you report her to the police instead of bringing her here?”

“Killing her is far from enough to atone for the crimes she committed.”

“You don’t have to do it. I’m going to deal with this treacherous wench myself!” Alex interjected through clenched teeth, his eyes bloodshot, unable to suppress his ruthlessness.

Daniella was pacing anxiously in her room at De Marco Residence, wondering, ‘Now that Noah’s father has been detained, when will I regain my freedom?’

Suddenly, a knock on her door startled her, and she opened it without thinking. A masked man covered her mouth, and Daniella, wide–eyed with fear, attempted to struggle, but her vision blurred, and she lost consciousness.

As Daniella was carried out of the room, Noah’s subordinate arrived. Blake frowned at the empty room. and quickly pulled out his walkie–talkie, shouting, “Check if Daniella is in the residence. Bring her to the entrance door right away if you find her.”

All the bodyguards at De Marco Residence searched for Daniella upon receiving the order. Despite more than 10 minutes of searching, she was nowhere to be found.

Blake promptly called Julian to update him on the situation. Julian, in turn, relayed the message to Noah without delay.

Noah’s expression turned, solemn as he listened to Julian’s report.

Addressing the group, Alex asked, “What’s happening? Has Daniella been taken?”

After glancing at Alex, Noah instructed Julian, “Check the surveillance footage! Personally supervise the search. Find her!”

“Yes, sir!” Julian affirmed.

After ending the call, Noah sternly told River and Alex, “Daniella can’t be found.”

“Can’t be found? What do you mean? Isn’t she being monitored by your people?” Alex sat up on the sofa.

“Fuck! Who could be behind this!” Alex snarled as he punched the sofa arm.

River pondered the suspicious individuals who had visited the villa. Meanwhile, Kenny found himself engaged in the same contemplation.

Looking at River with astonishment, Kenny exclaimed, “G, apart from a few of us, there’s your brother, Eira, and also Scott…”

A chill ran down River’s spine.

River thought, ‘It can’t be Neil, and Eira’s connection to Neil makes the possibility low. The only plausible suspect is Scott…‘

The crowd silently acknowledged the answer in their hearts.

River struggled to compose herself. “How… could it possibly be Scott? He’s not the type of person who would do that. He doesn’t have a motive, right? We lack evidence…”

Noah retorted, “What’s the point of defending him now?”

River, still in shock, couldn’t find her voice.

Kenny sighed. “G, you can find out by calling Scott now, right? If it’s Scott, he’s definitely not at the hospital.”

River nodded, trembling, and reached for her phone.

River was about to make the call when Noah stopped her. “Call his department. Do you have his department’s number?”

“I do! I saved it previously for emergencies. I’ll call!” Kenny volunteered.

He dialed Scott’s department, and the call was answered after a while.

Kenny put the call on speaker, holding his breath as he listened.

“Who is this?” Scott’s tired voice echoed.

Kenny and River visibly relaxed.

“It’s me, Scott,” Kenny replied.

Scott sounded anxious as he asked, “Are you calling at this hour because you, River, or the children are unwell?”

“It’s G!” Kenny stated promptly.

Concerned, Scott inquired, “What’s going on with River?”

Kenny explained, “She’s dehydrated from food poisoning. I told her I’d call you to ask. She won’t let me call, worried you might be busy. So, I’m checking your department to see if you’re there. If not, it means you’re busy with work.”

Scott reassured, “I just finished something. Is River with you? Ask her what she had for food today.”

River quickly interjected, “Scott, I’m here. Don’t worry, Kenny is exaggerating.”

Scott sighed in relief. “It’s good that you’re fine. You can find antidiarrheal medicine and oral rehydration salts among the medicines I brought you before. Remember to take some. If you still feel unwell, come to A phone not belonging to Daniella rang. She picked it up, responding with a vigilant yet anxious tone.”

Hello?”

The caller’s voice revealed it was Hector.

Daniella clutched the phone tightly and asked, “Mr. Hendrix? Why did you render me unconscious and bring me here with Casey? Why are we in the same room?”

Hector replied coldly, “You ask too many questions!”

Daniella quickly apologized, “I’m sorry for speaking out of turn, Mr. Hendrix.”

She feared opposing him, knowing he had the power to infiltrate De Marco Residence unnoticed.

Hector revealed, “They found out about your collusion with Azure. Stay here if you want to live. Help me execute my final plan once I’m prepared.”

Daniella was puzzled. ‘Final plan? Has he executed many plans already?‘

Looking at the unconscious Casey, she asked, “What about Casey, Mr. Hendrix?”

“I have other arrangements for him. Three meals a day will be delivered to you.”

Hector hung up abruptly, leaving Daniella with unanswered questions.

Daniella attempted to call back but found the phone locked with a password. Searching the room, she found no other electronic device but the phone.

Daniella was scared out of her wits. She had no idea how long Hector would keep her in the room and feared she would lose her mind to spend her days like that!

Daniella stared closely at Casey, wondering, ‘Is Mr. Hendrix’s goal to drive us insane and make us kill each other?!‘

The following day, River descended the stairs. The Incident involving Daniella and Casey had occupied everyone’s thoughts throughout the night.

Noah had eventually advised her to go upstairs and rest.

Upon waking in the morning, River found herself alone and descended the stairs. Three individuals were seated on the sofa, wearied from a sleepless night.

Upon hearing her footsteps, Noah, Alex, and Lucas glanced up.

River asked, “Any updates from last night?”

Lucas sighed. “No. We waited all night, but there’s been no word from Reuben and Julian.”

Alex scoffed. “How audacious for someone to openly defy our three major families.”

River pondered, ‘I’ll make sure Azure’s reputation is ruined when I act! The crucial task now is to unveil Azure and Daniella’s misdeeds to the public while safeguarding Paige’s privacy.‘

Suddenly, Pete came to her mind, and she promptly called him.

After a short while, Pete picked up. “Hello, Ms. Healy.”

Anxiously, River asked, “Were you at De Marco Residence last night?”

Pete replied, “Yes, I was there all night, and I’m still here. I’ve been eating and sleeping in the car for the past two days.”

River pressed further, “Did you notice any suspicious cars last night?”

“Suspicious cars? I think I saw one driving to the backyard last night. It left after less than 10 minutes. I thought it was someone else, but after checking the vehicle license plate, I found that the car belongs to the De Marcos.”

River frowned. “How do you know it’s the De Marcos‘ car?”

Pete explained, “I’ve gathered information on all the vehicles owned by the De Marcos during this period.”

“Understood. You may go home first and stop watching them,” River instructed.

Pete was taken aback. “What do you mean, Ms. Healy?”

“Daniella has been taken, probably by the car you saw. So, you should go home first,” River clarified.

Anxiously, Pete asked, “Are you firing me, Ms. Healy?”

River thought, ‘Daniella is gone. What’s the point of keeping him?‘

Pete pleaded, “I’m sure there’s something else I can help you with, Ms. Healy. I don’t mind tiring.

difficult work. Please don’t fire me!”

River paused briefly. ‘What else do I need his help with?‘

River contemplated Scott for a moment.

Glancing at Noah, who was engrossed in his phone, she said, “Help me keep an eye on a surgeon at Novamere Hospital named Scott Wilson.”

Noah looked up abruptly, staring at her.

Pete asked, “Understood, Ms. Healy. Is there anything else?”

“That’s all for now. Don’t let him notice anything. Monitor every person he interacts with outside the hospital,” River instructed.

Pete agreed, “Alright!”

After ending the call, Noah remarked, “Do you now believe Scott is more complicated than you initially thought?”
