Filed to story: My Husband Regrets Divorcing Me (Audrey & Cornell)
“It’s not a previous marriage,” Audrey clarified. “I have remarried Cornell.”
Abruptly, Henley slammed on the brakes.
The abrupt stop propelled Audrey forward, crashing his head into the passenger seat shield.
With bloodshot eyes, Henley turned to Audrey, demanding, “What did you just say?”
Audrey, clutching his throbbing head, revealed, “Henley, I remarried Cornell yesterday. I’m sure he’s coming to get me.”
Silence enveloped the car.
The sweetness of Henley’s face dissolved into a dark shadow.
He fixed his gaze on her, asking, “Why?”
Audrey, intimidated by his attitude, tried to keep her composure. “He’s the father of my child. I’m sure he’ll come looking for me.”
Henley’s face turned icy. He grabbed her chin roughly, his tone bitter, “He caused you a lot of pain and you lost a son. Have you forgotten?”
His grip became more menacing. “I overlooked your pregnancy, thinking it was unplanned. But to remarry him?”
Tears welled in Audrey’s eyes, the pain evident in his expression.
Henley’s grip was unwavering, his words cutting: “Do all women enjoy being degraded?”
In that moment, Henley saw in Audrey a reflection of his mad mother, one who, like Audrey, failed to value his affection.
He had intended to treat them kindly.
Why, why was he pushed to such extremes?
Henley’s expression wavered momentarily, morphing into something grotesque, reminiscent of a creature emerging from a grave. It was as if he mistook Audrey for someone else.
Her hands wrapped around his neck tightly, increasing the pressure.
Audrey began to tremble violently, his face turning ghostly white. He scratched Henley’s arm, leaving a bloody mark, and screamed, “Henley! Wake up!”
Henley’s eyes bore into Audrey’s reddened face, his breathing growing faint.
He felt an eerie rush as Audrey’s life seemed to slip away under his grip.
When his gaze met Audrey’s misted eyes, he saw only fear.
Those eyes that had once smiled at him, worried and thanked him, now reflected only deep fear.
As he leaned toward her, her familiar scent filled his nostrils.
Suddenly, as if startled, Henley released her.
???????? ?????????????? ???? ??????????????????.??????
Audrey had narrowly escaped death. She slumped in the seat, gasping like a fish out of water.
Henley, momentarily lucid, looked at Audrey and muttered, “Audrey, you’ve let me down. Your mistake… I will not let this child survive.”
He had once thought that if she chose to be with him, the baby in her womb could be left to others after Audrey delivered it.
But now, resentment filled her heart. She could not allow this child to live. 2
Audrey looked at him, incredulous. He had coldly decreed her son’s fate.
She protested in despair, “Are you crazy? He’s my son. You have no right.”
“I do have the right because I love you,” Henley declared emotionlessly “Every decision I make is for our sake.”
Audrey’s eyes widened in terror ??Henley was mad, truly deranged!
Protective, she clutched her abdomen, stating firmly, “Henley, you can’t hurt my son. The child stays with me.”
Henley replied in a chilling tone, “You will agree. I don’t want you to remember it and I’ll make sure you forget it.”
Audrey’s complexion turned ghostly. I was afraid he really did it-impossible! He couldn’t let him take her.
When Henley started the car again, Audrey suddenly clutched his stomach, crying out in pain, “Ah! My stomach! Stop the car.”
Henley looked at her, assessing the sincerity of her plea.
“Henley, I’m in pain! Am I dying?” Audrey writhed in pain in the seat.
He reached out and clutched weakly at his sleeve, his voice soft and pleading, “Please…”.
Henley hesitated at her frail tone, asking, “Is it really that painful?”
Audrey nodded vigorously.
He leaned toward her, concerned, and asked, “Will you let me check it out?”
As those words escaped Henley’s lips, Audrey grabbed the perfume bottle from the dashboard and smashed it against him.
Sharp thud. A dull impact sounded.
Blood slid down Henley’s forehead.
Audrey frantically unbuckled his seat belt and struggled to open the car door.
Suddenly, his hair was pulled back fiercely.
“Ah!” Audrey screamed in agony.
Henley, bloodied, looked like a hellish demon. “Audrey, how you have let me down!”
He pressed her against the seat, snapped the seat belt straight across and strapped her in.
Audrey, immobilized, defiantly declared, “Henley, I’m not going with you.
You’ll only get my lifeless body.”
“Really?” Henley leaned forward sharply, pushing the button to recline the car seat to the far back.
Audrey wasn’t sure of his intentions.
“I’ve heard that a woman’s heart can be won through the act of sex. Are you hesitating to leave him because you’ve been intimate with him?” she inquired, climbing imposingly into the seat.
“You won’t know if I’m any better unless you try.”
Audrey’s complexion paled. “Don’t touch me!”
Henley looked at Audrey intently, wanting to kiss her. His lips brushed her hair as she dodged his cold kiss.
Undeterred, he moved to nibble on her earlobe.
Tears escaped Audrey’s eyes.
“Henley, stop. This makes me sick.”
The revulsion in Audrey’s eyes stopped Henley’s breathing. The darkness in his eyes seemed to engulf him.
“Audrey, can’t you see my heart, can’t you consider being with me?”
His voice was infused with bitterness, humility, almost a plea.
“What can I do to win your heart?”
Henley, his voice low and rough, buried his face in her neck, seeking the warmth she offered.
“Is it that if I listen to you, you’ll begin to consider being with me?”
The suddenness of Henley’s change caught Audrey off guard.
She opened her mouth to speak, but was blinded by a bright light in the rearview mirror.
A dark blue luxury car had parked silently behind them.
As she prepared to call for help, the sound of an engine grew louder.
The next second ??bang! a loud noise was heard.
Their car was mercilessly hit from behind!
The car was pushed forward hundreds of feet.
